Tshwane/Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa. The city hosts the secondlargest
number of embassies in the world, as well as various foreign missions, trade delegations,
consulates and international aid organisations. The Union Buildings house the
administrative centre of the country and are the setting for presidential inaugurations,
including that of South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela.
The sandstone buildings provide an example of fine architecture, with the extensive
gardens offering a beautiful view over the city.
The venue for the FIFA Fan Fest in Tshwane/Pretoria has as yet not been decided;
however, a number of potential sites across the city are being carefully considered.
