Khyam tents are built to last, they are tested to meet and 

exceed the stringent requirements of the MOD, including 

testing in wind tunnels. Careful choices including fibreglass 

or aircraft grade aluminium tubing ensure that you get strength 

and durability but without unnecessary weight. Flysheets are 

another concern alleviated. The Weatherweave TM material 

used is tested to a minimum hydrostatic head of 2.5m. 

In other words the material remains waterproof with 

the equivalent of eight feet (2.5m) or more of water 

sitting on it! Enough for the worst British weather and

RAPIDE 

A smaller Flexi-dome could be pitched before you 

finish reading this paragraph, even one of the larger 

Ridgi-domes could be pitched before you finish 

reading this page! So it is not difficult to imagine the 

advantages this offers over pitching a conventional 

tent on a dark, wet and very stormy night. But who 

wants to bother locating the right pole for the right 

sleeve and pushing it through miles of fabric on even 

the finest day. Very few indeed once they have seen 

Khyam Rapidex quick erect system in action. 

I. Your Khyam Rldgl-domc comes in 

a robust, generously sized carry bag. 

2. Once removed from the carry bag, 

hold the tent in a vertical manner 

and gently lower poles outwards and 

downwards forming a star shape 

with the hub in the centre. 

3. The main poles open~te around cwo 

types of hinged joint. The upper and 

lower joints are locked Into position 

manually whilst the middle joint 

locks automatlc.1lly when the upper 

joint is locked. 

4. W ith the main section of the tent 

on its 'knees' the tri-guys can be 

pegged prior to lifting the tent to 

full height. 

S. Once the main dome Is at full height 

the tri·guys can be securely pegged.

6. The bedroom poles are simply 

threaded through the sleeves on 

each bedroom section and secured 

into place using the shockcorded 

elastic clips. 

7. The upright support poles for each 

bedroom section simply locate Into 

the plastic feet on the end of the 

main poles. The flysheet then clips 

directly to the bedroom poles. 

8. Once all bedroom poles are 

in position the remaining pegs 

and guyropes can be socured. 

Inner tents simply clip into place 

and are suspended via shockcorded 

loops and hooks.

select your base unit and then decide 

how many rooms you need safe in the 

knowledge that an unused 'pod' can 

be unzipped, stowed and any of the three 

multi-functional panels supplied inserted

Whenever you need an extra boot 

Fitting everything for a family needs for a weekend 

away into a car, large or small, is never easy.

Roof boxes are a common solution but they have 

severe weight restrictions and greatly reduce 

fuel efficiency due to their extra drag. 

Khyam have addressed this need 

by creating the Cargo Rack 

and matching Cargo Bag. 

Designed to fit onto a 

standard tow-bar (not swan 

neck) the rack creates extra space 

for bicycles, furniture, refuse or the dedicated 

Cargo Bag and air in the 'wind shadow' created

Moritz all weather jacket 

The Khyam Moritz all weather jacket is 

as thoughtfully designed as the rest of the 

Khyam range. The heart of the jacket is the 

waterproof and breathable Vaportex membrane. 

A waterproof jacket is an essential piece of 

outdoor kit in any season whether you are 

walking the dog or scouting a new route on 

Kangchenjunga but waterproof is not enough. 

A waterproof layer will keep moisture out but 

also traps it In and if you are exerting yourself 

even slightly you will start to feel as damp 

and eventually cold. 

Not all breathable membranes are equal and 

Vaportex is one of the very best able to withstand 

a hydrostatic head of I I ,000 mm and still allowing 

over 11 ,OOOg of water to pass out through each 

square metre of fabric each day. 

But how is this superior level of protection and 

comfort achieved/ The concept is simple a water 

droplet is very big compared to a water vapour 

molecule. By having many, many millions of tiny 

holes in each square metre of fabric that are 

thousands of times smaller than a water droplet, 

but hundreds of times bigger than a water vapour 

molecule perspiration passes out through the 

fabric but rain is stopped in its tracks. The result 

is that you stay dry on the inside whether you 

are sheltering or exercising. 

The attention to detail in the cut and design of the 

jacket is as rewarding as the material. Four front 

slash zipped pockets (two waist, two chest) and 

a separate front valuables pocket, with an internal 

security clip, ensure that the items you need are 

always safe and at hand.A zipped base pocket at 

the back is ideal for items such as gloves, dog lead

INNER FABRIC 

Inner tents from the Flexi-dome 

range are manufactured from 

breathable synthetic fabric. 

If condensation forms on the inside 

of the flysheet, the light shower 

coating we have added to the inner 

fabric will normally prevent water 

penetration. The Ridgi ranges inners 

are manufactured from poly cotton 

welded seams making taping 

unnecessary. However, use of a 

supplementary groundsheet will help 

keep the inner tent groundsheet 

clean for easier packing. 

INNER TENTS 

All Khyam inner tents are equipped 

with secondary mosquito net doors 

and double z1p sliders to promote 

ventilation. The inner doors can be 

rolled up and tied back for clear 

access and all inner tents can be easily 

detached from the flysheet and folded 

back or removed. Never cook in your 

tent. Synthetic fabrics will melt and 

may catch fire if they come into 

contact with a flame or very hot 

object. Always take extreme care 

when cooking near your tent and 

be alert to sparks from barbecues 

and camp fires. 

POLE SYSTEM 

The Khyam Flexi-dome range main 

pole structure is a combination of 

robust solid glass fibre poles bonded 

onto reinforced moulded nylon joints. 

Poles jn the Ridgi ranges are 

constructed from aluminium and 

steel giving rigidity with flexibility 

unique to Khyam. lt is rare for poles 

or joints to break, they are extremely 

durable and have been tested to 

exacting standards. For peace of mind,

Both the Storm Guy pack and the Tri-guy 

System have been specifically designed to 

spread tension evenly around the pole

SEAMS

treatment with seam sealant which is 

provided. Unlike natural fabrics, synthetics 

do not recover after sewing and it is 

sometimes necessary to apply sealant. 

Using the applicator, apply the sealant 

carefully along the inside of the flysheet 

seams, and around the hanging points 

from which the inner tent is suspended, 

ensuring that they are totally sealed 

to prevent any wicking. 

On no account should the teeth or 

working parts of any zips on the flysheet 

which is also semi-proofed.
