CASE STUDIES
Every day, Metrico advises OEMs on issues found with devices
undergoing Fit4Launch evaluation, and works with them to find
solutions, in areas such as:
Handset earpiece and microphone loudness
Speech quality in the handset, over speakerphone, via
Bluetooth, or in noise
Call initiation and retention
Data uploads, downloads and reliability
Web browsing pageload times and reliability
Video framerate, freeze, impairment and audio sync.
A major OEM submitted a device destined for a Tier-1 U.S. mobile service provider. During the laboratory data degraded channel test,
the device performed below the 20th percentile of devices tested for that network. The OEM delivered new firmware, and data download
speeds passed the performance threshold.
Another OEM could not determine the cause of poor HTTP performance. Based on its experience, the Metrico Fit4Launch team
confirmed that the problem was isolated to a particular Android API, and recommended switching to another one. Download speed
increased from approximately 500 kbps to 6 Mbps.
A device failed Metrico’s functional test upon receipt, as the Bluetooth interfaces on the device would not reliably allow Metrico’s
measurement system to connect. Battery drain on the device was occurring in such a way that the Bluetooth functions were being deprioritized.
Metrico and the OEM worked jointly to troubleshoot the issue, and the OEM provided Metrico with the fix.
