Cold water divers or those frequenting harsh environments

complete complement to SCUBAPRO’s MK17, a high-performing 

balanced diaphragm fi rst stage engineered exactly for such 

conditions. Full metal body and components guarantee less risk 

of freezing and the MK17 is environmentally sealed so water 

cannot enter the inner mechanism. Given that regulators generate 

temperatures down to minus 30º due to the incredibly fast moving air 

and the pressure drop involved, it is imperative that sensitive moving

The task of the fi rst stage of a regulator system is quite simple: reduce 

high pressure air coming from the tank to a consistent intermediate 

pressure. First stage regulators are divided into piston and diaphragm 

categories, depending on the mechanism used to control the valve 

allowing air to fl ow to the second stage. Piston fi rst stages can be 

further classifi ed between balanced and classic downstream piston 

design, with specifi c function and performance of the fi rst stage related 

to pressure changes in the tank. 

SCUBAPRO PISTON TECHNOLOGY 

The general advantage of a piston fi rst stage lies in its reliability 

and reduced maintenance requirements, due to an effective but 

simpler mechanism with less moving parts. More importantly, no 

other design can reach the high air delivery rate of a balanced piston 

controlled fi rst stage. 

Air-balanced flow-through piston - First stages with air-balanced 

pistons deliver signifi cantly more air to the second stage than any 

other fi rst stage, plus their performance is totally unaffected by 

changing tank pressure. A balanced piston allows the use of lighter 

and more sensitive components, resulting in ultra fast breathing 

response, instant delivery of air on demand, and extra high air fl ow, 

especially in low tank pressure ranges. The tired diver benefi ts from 

a smoother breathing regulator during the ascent or deco stop. 

Balanced piston fi rst stages are the fi rst choice of demanding sport 

divers and professionals, and perform equally well in warm and cold 

water environments. This technology is featured in our MK25 fi rst 

stages. 

Classic downstream piston - The best example of bulletproof 

reliability and trouble-free, minimum maintenance regulators. 

The classic downstream piston confi guration is the simplest 

mechanism that exists to control the pressure drop from a tank to 

feed the second stage. The classic downstream valve is the fi rst 

choice of diving centers and rental facilities worldwide for warm and 

moderate water temperatures. This technology is featured in our 

MK2 PLUS fi rst stage. 

SCUBAPRO DIAPHRAGM TECHNOLOGY 

Diaphragm-based fi rst stages are environmentally sealed so water 

cannot enter the inner mechanism. Given that regulators generate

SCUBAPRO SECOND STAGE 

REGULATORS 

The second stage of a regulator must translate natural breathing 

behavior into mechanical reality. A high quality second stage can 

signifi cantly reduce stress and enhance diver safety by providing 

smooth, low-effort breathing response, resulting in ample yet 

controllable quantities of air. The designations balanced and classic 

downstream are also distinguishing marks for second stages. 

They deliver ultimate fl ow performance and stability in addition to 

reliability, simplicity and solid performance. While all SCUBAPRO fi rst 

and second stages are fully compatible, some combinations will result 

in more effective and higher performance systems. 

AIR-BALANCED VALVE TECHNOLOGY 

The air-balanced valve technology of SCUBAPRO second stages 

features a balancing chamber in the second stage mechanism, 

slightly offsetting the force of the downstream air entering from the 

fi rst stage. This allows reduced spring tension and decreases the 

inhalation resistance to the lowest possible level. The result is super 

smooth breathing in all conditions. Air-balanced valve technology is 

featured in our A-Series, S-Series and G-Series second stages. 

For best results, they should be teamed with balanced fi rst stages 

like the MK25 or MK17.

exceptional performance, and are the preferred choice for 

passionate divers. 

• G-Series regulators are timeless classics, redesigned for today’s

CLASSIC DOWNSTREAM VALVE TECHNOLOGY 

Classic downstream valves are particularly noted for their legendary 

safety and reliability. When in use, the downstream valve opens in 

the same direction as the incoming airfl ow. To close the valve and 

stop the airfl ow, a spring counteracts the force of the incoming air. 

Therefore, a slight inhalation effort is always required to overcome the 

spring tension and open the valve. SCUBAPRO R-Series robust and 

reliable R395 and R295 are examples of this design. They are best 

teamed with the MK17, MK11 or MK2 PLUS fi rst stages. 

ADJUSTABLE SECOND STAGE REGULATORS 

The human breathing process is unique and individual — rather 

intuitive — and taken for granted at the surface. However, once 

underwater and dependent on a regulator, we suddenly realize how 

uniquely we breathe, and how important a regulator can be. 

The harsher the diving conditions, the higher the fl exibility and 

response we demand from a second stage regulator. This is why 

SCUBAPRO has implemented diver-adjustable functions on many of 

our second stage regulators. 

Diver-adjustable inhalation effort - This feature enables the diver 

to adjust breathing effort via an oversized control knob. It is available 

on the A700, S600 and G250V second stages. All other second 

stages feature a pre-set inhalation effort that suits the most common 

diving conditions and can be fi ne-tuned at an Authorised SCUBAPRO 

Dealer on request. 

Venturi-Initiated Vacuum Assist (VIVA) - Another SCUBAPRO 

patented feature, VIVA is available on all SCUBAPRO second 

stages. VIVA uses the power of a vacuum assist to reduce work of 

breathing and increase breathing comfort. It is diver adjustable on 

all current SCUBAPRO second stages except the R295, which is 

intentionally designed for diver training courses, rental facilities, and 

divers demanding ready-to-use equipment. A VIVA in MAX position 

gives powerful breathing support on every single breath. A VIVA in 

MIN position helps prevent free fl ow on the surface, ideal for training, 

buddy breathing, in currents, or when used as an octopus.

A regulator should be considered truly comfortable only when you 

nearly forget you are using one. Characteristics such as natural and 

low-effort breathing behaviour, minimum fl ow resistance, drag of the 

second stage while swimming, freedom of movement and overall

Orthodontic mouthpiece - SCUBAPRO uses a comfortable 

orthodontic mouthpiece on every second stage to reduce jaw 

fatigue and gum irritation. It was developed by dentists and dental 

laboratories and lasts longer than any other mouthpiece, because

Twin opposing high pressure ports - The arrangement of high 

and low pressure hoses is crucial to diving comfort. Two opposing 

high pressure ports facilitate individual positioning of the fi rst stage 

(pointing up or down). This allows the diver to position the gauges 

either on the right or left side and increases the freedom of movement 

for head and neck. Featured on all fi rst stages except the MK2 PLUS. 

Multiple low pressure ports - For ultimate freedom in the 

arrangement of low pressure hoses, the MK25 accommodates 5 HF 

(high fl ow) ports on a swiveling turret, which allows for 360 degree 

swivel of hoses. The MK17 and MK11 feature four stationary low 

pressure ports, two of them HF. High fl ow ports deliver about 15% 

more air than conventional ports. 

DIN/INT first stage configurations - To ensure worldwide 

compatibility, all SCUBAPRO regulator systems are available in a 

232bar INT version as well as 300bar DIN versions. 

Externally-adjustable intermediate pressure - Allows authorized 

SCUBAPRO service technicians to quickly fi ne tune or make 

adjustments after maintenance without the need to disassemble the

TEC 2G is an easy-to-use two-gas computer which, unique in its 

small-size segment, offers a predictive multi-gas algorithm (PMG).

ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY 

BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT (ADAPTIVE) ALGORITHM 

Intuitive and innovative, adaptive computers from UWATEC are a 

step ahead of standard computers. Using the Bühlmann ZH-L8 ADT 

mathematical algorithm, these computers adapt to diver behaviours 

and environmental conditions, accounting for such variables as 

workload, water temperature, ascent rate, even pulmonary shunt 

during surface intervals. 

MICROBUBBLE MANAGEMENT 

BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT MB (ADAPTIVE MICROBUBBLE) 

ALGORITHM 

This variation of the Bühlmann algorithm enables divers to reduce the 

effects of microbubble build up. Microbubbles are tiny but potentially 

highly dangerous bubbles that can build up in a diver’s tissues. 

Often present without visible symptoms, they could damage soft 

tissues and lead to decompression illness. The ZH-L8 ADT MB 

algorithm features six diver selectable microbubble suppression 

levels: from L0 (minimum microbubble reduction corresponding 

to the UWATEC ZH-L8 ADT algorithm) to L5 (highest degree of 

microbubble reduction). Divers can program the level of microbubble 

reduction according to their personal preference and diving 

environment. In practical terms, the diver will have either shorter nostop 

times or deeper and longer decompression stops (level stops) 

than when diving with L0. As a consequence, the body will either 

take up less nitrogen, or will be able to off-gas more before returning 

to the surface, therefore reducing the amount of microbubbles 

present in the body at the end of the dive. 

MULTI–GAS DIVING 

BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT MB PMG (PREDICTIVE MULTI-GAS) 

Galileo Sol and Aladin TEC 2G computers feature a predictive multigas 

algorithm (available as an upgrade on the Galileo Terra), which 

takes into account all planned gas switches throughout the dive. In 

the background, the algorithm also calculates the decompression 

schedule for the currently active gas only, so if you fail to switch to the 

“deco gas” at the planned depth, the computer can quickly revert to 

this calculation. This means the decompression schedule shown on 

the display gives you the actual total time of ascent. 

For your convenience, a gas switch is suggested automatically by 

the computer once you reach the planned switch depth, but the 

diver must confi rm the switch manually. A switch can also be initiated 

manually at any time, giving you total fl exibility in the use of the deco 

gas(es), always with an up-to-date decompression calculation. 

NITROX COMPATIBILITY 

All UWATEC dive computers are Nitrox compatible. Nitrox is the 

term used to describe breathing gases made of oxygen-nitrogen 

mixes with the oxygen percentage higher than 21%. Because Nitrox 

contains less nitrogen than air, there is less nitrogen loading on 

the diver’s body at the same depth as compared to breathing air. 

However, the increase in oxygen concentration in Nitrox implies an 

increase in oxygen partial pressure (ppO2) in the breathing mix at 

the same depth, which can have toxic effects on the human body. 

UWATEC computers keep you safe from these potential negative 

effects: 

• They have a maximum operating depth alarm alerting divers when 

the partial pressure of oxygen (ppO2) reaches the maximum 

allowed level (ppO2max). 

• They “track” the exposure by means of the Central Nervous 

System Oxygen (CNS O2) clock. At levels of 100% and higher 

there is risk of long exposure effects, and consequently an alarm 

will be activated when this level of CNS O2 is reached. 

TRUE REMAINING BOTTOM TIME (RBT) 

CALCULATED WITH GALILEO SOL AND SMART 

GAS-INTEGRATED COMPUTERS 

The RBT is the time divers can spend at the current depth before 

needing to ascend in order to be on the surface with the minimum 

gas reserve as set in the dive computer (range is 20-120bar, default 

40bar). Galileo Sol computers calculate the RBT by taking into 

consideration all parameters which affect the ascent, such as tank 

pressure, breathing rate, depth, ideal ascending speed, all incurring 

and upcoming decompression obligations and the set tank reserve. 

In addition, tank pressure is temperature compensated in order to 

correctly follow the diver during an ascent through thermoclines. 

Once all of these factors have been considered, Galileo Sol dive 

computers calculate the actual RBT, while constantly monitoring each 

variable and updating the calculation if needed to ensure that the RBT 

is always accurate. 

SMART TRAK AND INFRARED 

TECHNOLOGY 

Infrared technology allows divers 

to interface wirelessly and without 

hassle with a personal computer, 

for example to download their dive 

profi les. Smart TRAK is a dedicated 

software application which lets divers 

log, organize, analyze and print the 

details of each dive, taking advantage 

of the 4-second sampling rate in UWATEC dive computers’ memory; 

it also allows for customized dive computer settings, including

THREE TYPES OF SCUBAPRO BCS 

Different needs, various solutions. Here is a quick look at the three 

types of SCUBAPRO BCs. 

Front-adjustable jackets - Front-adjustable jackets allow variations 

of fi t, regardless of the thickness of suit worn. Quick-release 

adjustable shoulder buckles make this style of BC very easy to put 

on and take off, making it popular for training and dive centers and 

for all levels of recreational divers. A variety of styles and sizes offer a 

custom-like fi t. 

Back flotation jackets - Back fl otation jackets are the BCs of 

choice for divers preferring a totally uncluttered chest area. The 

design positions the air bladder on the sides of the tank, rather than 

under the arms or over the shoulders of the diver. SCUBAPRO 

integrates this design with a back fl otation harness that provides 

superior load carrying technology designed for increased comfort 

on prolonged or repeated dives. Underwater, it helps the diver 

automatically attain a horizontal fl oating position. 

Stabilizing jackets - Stabilizing jackets were invented by 

SCUBAPRO. They feature the most harmonious buoyancy control of 

all by utilizing unrestricted internal passageways to allow air to fl ow 

continuously throughout the jacket and accumulate at the highest 

point. The diver is surrounded by this bubble and moves easily and 

precisely underwater. On the surface, it supports a comfortable and 

relaxed “face up” fl oating position. 

DESIGNED TO LAST 

A robust jacket is highly resistant to punctures and abrasion, and 

carries heavy load tanks without compromising longevity and 

comfort. SCUBAPRO achieves this by using the best materials, 

reinforcements and seam constructions. 

Materials and reinforcements - The core bladders of our BCs 

are made with Cordura ® 500 or 1000. Polyester and nylon are then 

selectively chosen to reinforce the most exposed areas of our BCs. 

Seam construction - SCUBAPRO was the fi rst manufacturer to 

use a high-tech method of welding to achieve a fl awless seal on all 

jackets made from polyurethane-backed nylon. The use of highpower 

radio waves bonds the polyurethane material, resulting in a 

very strong and long-lasting seam. 

DESIGNED FOR COMFORT AND 

PEACE OF MIND 

A comfortable jacket disperses the tank load evenly to the diver’s 

hip area — away from chest and shoulders — and offers soft interior 

padding. It conforms securely to the diver’s body to minimize drag 

and provide a nonrestrictive fi t around shoulders and waist. 

Integrated weight system - Most SCUBAPRO jackets have an 

integrated weight system to replace the traditional weight belt. 

Weights are carried in separate pouches that slip into speciallydesigned 

pockets at the waist. The pockets are closed and secured 

with oversized buckles that prevent weight pouches from falling out 

during the dive. These weight pockets accommodate up to 10kg 

(5kg each), which is usually suffi cient weight for a recreational diver 

using a wetsuit. Weight integrated pockets help to avoid sore hips 

and backache, usually caused by weight belts, and are easy to 

handle even with thick gloves. 

Trim weight - In most jackets, rear trim pockets are located on both 

sides of the tank and hold at least 1,5kg of non-releasable weights 

each. Together with front pocket weights, they optimize diver‘s trim 

and adjust to varying equipment confi gurations and diving conditions. 

Super cinch tank band - No other system offers the strength, 

security, and reliability of SCUBAPRO’s proprietary stainless steel 

cam action buckle system: Engineered to allow both ease of 

adjustment plus a secure grip on the tank.

DESIGNED FOR SAFETY AND 

CONTROL 

A safe jacket enables you to react quickly to changing conditions 

while providing suffi cient lift capacity. SCUBAPRO BCs achieve this 

with perfectly-positioned air release valves (dump valves) reachable 

and effective in any position. The diver can add the right amount 

of air instantly upon demand using the SCUBAPRO BPI (Balanced 

Power Infl ator) or the optional AIR2. These features ensure stability 

and facilitate precise changes in underwater body position. 

Dump valves - Because divers are not always in an upright position 

when they need to vent air, SCUBAPRO jackets feature several 

dump valves at different positions: on the right shoulder, equipped 

with an easy to fi nd lanyard handle; on the left shoulder, integrated 

in the corrugated hose; in the rear at waist level, for a diver in a headdown 

position. 

BPI (Balanced Power Inflator) and AIR2 - The compact 

SCUBAPRO BPI infl ates and defl ates at the touch of a button. 

It features special soft-touch, ergonomically shaped buttons for 

a good grip and easy, one hand operation with gloves. All of our 

jackets come standard with a BPI and a medium pressure hose. A 

SCUBAPRO medium pressure hose gives fl exibility regardless of 

water temperature changes, guaranteeing maximum fl ow 

and resistance. 

AIR2 is more than a simple infl ator. Its components design takes 

advantage from the best regulator technology to guarantee maximum 

effi ciency and reliability. As an infl ator AIR2 provides perfect pressure 

control for a great buoyancy management. Ergonomic shape makes 

it easy-to-handle in any circumstance, it can be automatically 

emptied by simply pressing the exhaust button. 

Lift capacity - All jackets need a minimum internal volume to allow 

suffi cient air to be injected inside to reach neutral buoyancy, and 

when needed to create lift for ascent and fl otation on the surface. 

This is an important comfort and safety issue. A jacket also needs 

to be streamlined to reduce drag in order to save energy when 

swimming. 

Tank sizes - Our BCs are all CE approved using a maximum size 15 

liter tank (depending on jacket size). Our T-Black BC can carry up to 

an 18 liter tank.

The dictionary below defi nes the various materials and treatments 

incorporated and applied to our suits. 

EverFlex - Ultra-stretch neoprene with enhanced abrasion 

resistance. Used on the inside and outside of the EverFlex line of 

steamers for maximum comfort, stretch, and durability. Also used in 

other models in areas needing additional stretch, like under-arms, 

back of the knees and calves. 

Multi-flex - Four-way-stretch nylon weave that creates comfort and 

better fi t without compromising robustness and durability. Used in 

selected models in critical areas where added fl exibility is required. 

Heliospan - Superfi ne fl eece weave used for interior lining. Smooth 

and comfortable against the skin and easy to take on and off. 

Soaks up and holds water, providing extra insulation to keep you 

warm and comfortable. 

Plush - Used on the interior of our semi-dry suits. Thanks to a 

sophisticated weave technology, it provides thermal insulation with

Micro-plush - Used on the interior of selected steamers. Smooth

Silverskin - Ultra-smooth interior fi nish. It consists of a cell fi nish

Glideskin - Ultra-smooth, non-porous neoprene used in wrist, ankle 

and neck seals, plus some interior panels. Easy to pull on and off 

with great sealing capacity. 

Fairskin - Textured skin neoprene that combines excellent fastdrying 

properties with anti-tearing resistance. Ideal for critical panels 

in high-tech constructions. 

Powertex - Abrasion resistant fabric applied to seat area of our 

EverFlex jackets for prolonged wear and protection. 

N2S (Nylon-2-Sided Neoprene) - Nylon laminated on both sides 

of neoprene foam. Classic material for all-around, rental and tropical 

water wetsuits. 

High-density neoprene - an intermediate density between 

pre-compressed and standard neoprene has made it possible to 

conceive our revolutionary EverDry4 drysuit. Soft & comfortable like 

a wetsuit but warm and water tight like a drysuit. Light in weight but 

heavy in insulation properties.

Double thread blind-stitch - This stitch uses two threads and

Tatex kneepads - SCUBAPRO has perfected the application of 

TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber) kneepads directly to the outer material 

of the suit, without stitches or glue. The ergonomic shape and 

placement puts protection where it is needed, without restricting 

knee movement. 

Tatex shoulder pads - Like our kneepads, Tatex is applied on our 

advanced suits for added protection against BC abrasion. 

Abrasion-resistant fabrics - Specifi c weave technology is used 

to knit high-strength and chemically-resistant materials used in the 

more exposed areas of our suits. Powertex fabric is applied to the 

seat area of our EverFlex jackets to protect and prolong wear.

The most important consideration in mask selection is fi t. No two 

faces are alike, so SCUBAPRO’s broad range takes individual 

differences into account. 

One basic difference in masks lies in the number of lenses. 

Single-lens masks remain a popular choice worldwide because they 

provide a broad, uninterrupted view. Twin-lens masks have become 

increasingly popular because they typically lower internal volume and 

are easier to clear. To increase peripheral vision and transfer more

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SNORKEL 

In its very simplest form, a snorkel is a bent tube that enables you to 

breathe with your face underwater. Quite naturally, the confi guration 

of that tube and the design of its components will determine its 

level of comfort during use. All SCUBAPRO snorkels are hydrodynamically 

designed for exceptional performance. Elliptical barrel 

models cut through water with very little resistance, allowing 

unrestricted breathing and ease of clearing. Contoured models 

bend closely around your head to minimize drag. Semi-dry top 

models help prevent water entry into tube. All SCUBAPRO models
