• Each year level has its own dedicated House Master. We do
not appoint or use prefects to supervise junior students.
• Double cubicles – individual wardrobe – 29 beds at Year 9
• Silence from 9:30pm till 7:10am for Year 9 students

Fees:
• The boarding fee for 2009 is $7,900
• It is an annual charge and no component of it is refundable
unless suitable notice of departure is given
• It covers accommodation:
• from Sunday evenings until Friday afternoons in terms 1 and 4
• from Sunday evenings until Saturday mornings in terms 2 and 3 if
involved in a College activity on the following day
• It equates to $41.58 per school day.

For $41.58 per school day the student gets:
• Three sit down meals, morning and afternoon tea and supper
• Comprehensive adult supervision
• Full laundry provision and daily building cleaning services
• 1.5 hours of supervised study with adult assistance and library
and computer access
• At-your-doorstep access to many activities and transport
(generally free of charge) to others
• A hostel report sent home at the end of terms 2 and 4
• The companionship of 28 Lasallian brothers

Transport
• Chartered buses transport students to and from the hostel
• One bus travels to Manaia at 3:40pm on Friday and departs
for school at 7:00pm on Sunday evening
• Another bus travels to Hawera at 3:40pm on Friday and
departs for school at 7:00am on Monday morning
• Buses cost $10 per trip ($20 return)
nights to engage in a school activity. Parents frequently
come to spectate then take their son home.

are collected before lights-out and reissued next
morning once cubicles are acceptably tidy. They may not
be used during supervised study or mealtimes
• Landline phones are available
• Parents are able to share in their children’s lives every
weekend, so our students get the best of both worlds
• Newsletters are sent home each month and reports twice a
year

How to take this further:
• The school cannot enrol a student unless ‘preference’ is
obtained or the student is given one of a limited number
of ‘non-preference’ places
• Prospective enrolees for the hostel are interviewed by the
Principal and Dean of Boarding in April. A tour of the
hostel is given at this time.
• Before the end of May the 29 Year 9 beds are offered to
families who then have to pay a deposit if wishing to
secure their place
• Wait-listed families are normally informed of the outcome in
early June.
