Malus x ‘Jefcoutts’
This outstanding new variety produces crisp, juicy apples that are excellent for
fresh eating. Medium to large fruit ripen in late August and store well until the
New Year.

Origin:
A seedling of the cross ‘Norland’ x ‘Haralson’ selected by the Mr. Art
Coutts of Unity, Saskatchewan.

Hardiness:
Zone 2 (Canadian and USDA). Similar to Norland.

Growth Rate:
A medium growing tree reaching a mature height of 25-30 feet. Also
available as a dwarf tree grafted on Ottawa #3 rootstalk with a mature
height of 12-15 feet.

Description:
Gemini ® produces fruit that is crisp, juicy and of medium sweetness.
The fruit ripens in late August and stores well into the next year. Devel
oped under zone 2 conditions, the tree has excellent cold hardiness.

Culture:
Performs best in moderate to full sunshine. It is suited to a wide range
of soil types and growing conditions.

Pest and Disease:
Fire blight may be an issue under certain conditions, but can be limited
by planting in sod and limiting fertilizer application.
