AAL's Oculus is designed to<br />

reflectors are designed to direct<br />

illumination with no stray light<br />

which translates into wasted<br />

energy. The result is more light<br />

LONGEVITY<br />

AAL manufactures all its<br />

products to have a life span as<br />

long as the buildings or spaces<br />

they illuminate. The primary<br />

material used for all our products<br />

is aluminum to resist corrosion<br />

and the need for maintenance.<br />

Aluminum will not need the<br />

periodic refinishing required of<br />

steel products that will eventually<br />

rust and corrode. All our internal<br />

parts and fasteners are made<br />

of aluminum or stainless steel.<br />

Lamp enclosures are kept dust<br />

free and dry to prevent light<br />

degradation and maintain a high<br />

level of energy efficiency.<br />

SUSTAINABILITY<br />

AAL's products are developed<br />

with recycling and resource<br />

management in mind. We<br />

recycle all incoming packaging<br />

materials. Our products are<br />

shipped in easy to recycle<br />

packaging materials. Our<br />

state-of-the-art finishing system<br />

uses eco-friendly cleansing<br />

and preparation chemicals.<br />

Our powder coating process<br />

eliminates the release of volatile<br />

chemicals into the atmosphere.<br />

AAL makes the Oculus, like all<br />

AAL products, with renewable<br />

materials such as aluminum and<br />

Now you can truly design with<br />

light. The adjustable reflector<br />

beam on the small and large<br />

Oculus ® models with parabolic reflector<br />

allows on-site refinement of the light<br />

pattern. You can adjust from a narrow<br />

beam to a medium flood pattern with the<br />

same luminaire. The Oculus Nano is also<br />

field adjustable through lamp or reflector<br />

changes. Snap (or screw in for ONR) in<br />

a linear spread lens or diffusion lens for<br />

even more beam patterns. Oculus ® gives<br />

you the freedom to refine your lighting<br />

design to changing field conditions without<br />

replacing the fixture or reflector.<br />

The parabolic reflector with an axial lamp<br />

orientation provides:<br />

• A precise, parallel beam to direct the<br />

light to where you want it.<br />

• A concentrated beam for more center<br />

beam punch and highlighting.<br />

• Less stray, uncontrolled side light<br />

reduces glare.<br />

• Higher reflector efficiency means<br />

more light output from the same<br />

lamp wattage.<br />

• Baffles used to attempt control of<br />

stray light reduce the efficiency of the<br />

fixture.<br />

• The lower portion of the lamp lumens<br />

are lost or redirected into the lamp<br />

arc tube decreasing the<br />

lamp life.<br />

• Less beam control with an<br />

uncontrolled, bare arc tube.<br />

• Linear spread lens is difficult to aim<br />

or adjust in a perpendicular direction<br />

to the lamp.<br />

External focusing<br />

Final adjustment of the light to illuminate in<br />

just the right way is easy. There is no need<br />

to disassemble the Oculus ® to adjust the<br />

beam pattern.<br />

An adjustment screw on the exterior of the<br />

fixture allows for easy, on site focusing for<br />

a small tight beam to a larger spot pattern.<br />

This also ensures the spread lens is in the<br />

proper position when adjusting the beam.<br />

The Oculus ® allows you to adjust to changing project conditions due to changes of<br />

setbacks, fixture positions, and lighting levels. The parabolic reflector, with adjustable<br />

focusing, provides variable beam patterns all in one fixture. For the Oculus Small and<br />

Large, the reflector can achieve a 10° spot to a 78° wide flood distribution. The Oculus<br />

Nano is field adjustable only through lamp or reflector changes.<br />

SPECIFICATIONS<br />

HOUSING<br />

The fixture housing is die cast aluminum. The front cover<br />

is secured with four cap screws for relamping and internal<br />

access. The front glass element is clear, tempered glass.<br />

The front cover and electrical module are sealed with<br />

memory retentive, extruded silicone gaskets. The lamp<br />

module swivels 105 degrees by loosening one stainless steel<br />

cap screw. Rotation is a full 360 degrees with a cam lock<br />

stop, by loosening four set screws. All internal and external<br />

hardware is stainless steel.<br />

Optical Module<br />

The R111 features a built in reflector composed of faceted<br />

aluminum. The mini mastercolour features a high specular,<br />

convex faceted round reflector made of aluminum. The LED<br />

component features Ledil® optics, an optical grade PC with<br />

high UV and temperature resistance. Internal accessories<br />

are installed between the reflector and inside cover.<br />

ELECTRICAL Module<br />

The ballast is mounted directly onto the die-cast housing<br />

and wired with a quick disconnect plug and removed by<br />

loosening two screws. Electronic metal halide ballasts are<br />

rated for -30°C starting, sound rating A. Sockets are pulse<br />

rated porcelain, bi-pin, GX8.5 for R111 and PGJ5 for mini<br />

mastercolour. Wired at the factory for 277 volts, unless<br />

specified.<br />

FINISH<br />

Fixture finish consists of a five stage pretreatment regimen with<br />

a polymer primer sealer, oven dry off and top coated with a<br />

thermoset super TGIC polyester powder coat finish. The finish<br />

shall meet the AAMA 605.2 performance specification which<br />

includes passing a 3000 hour salt spray test for corrosion<br />

resistance.<br />

Installation<br />

The bottom of the ballast housing has a solid brass 1/2" NPT<br />

nipple. The housing has four 0.300 inch knockouts for other<br />

means of mounting.<br />

EISA compliance<br />

AAL is committed to complying with U.S. EISA requirements. All<br />

applicable products manufactured for sale in the United States<br />

after January 1, 2009, meet EISA requirements.<br />

Certification<br />

The fixture is listed with ETL for outdoor, wet location use,<br />

UL1598 and Canadian CSA Std. C22.2 no.250. IP=66<br />

Warranty<br />

5 YEAR LED WARRANTY<br />

Fixture is warranted for three years, or five years for LED<br />

models. Ballast components carry the ballast manufacturer’s<br />

limited warranty. Any unauthorized return, repair, replacement<br />

or modification of the Product(s) shall void this warranty. This<br />

warranty applies only to the use of the Product(s) as intended<br />

by AAL and does not cover any misapplication or misuse<br />

of said Product(s), or installation in hazardous or corrosive<br />

environments. Contact AAL for complete warranty language,<br />

exceptions, and limitations.<br />

SPECIFICATIONS<br />

HOUSING<br />

The fixture housing is die cast aluminum. The front cover<br />

is secured with four cap screws for relamping and internal<br />

access. The front glass element is clear, tempered glass. The<br />

front cover and electrical module are sealed with memory<br />

retentive, molded silicone gaskets. The lamp module swivels<br />

105 degrees by loosening two stainless steel cap screws.<br />

Rotation is a full 360 degrees with a cam lock stop by<br />

loosening three set screws. All internal and external hardware<br />

is stainless steel.<br />

Optical Module<br />

The parabolic reflector is spun aluminum, polished and<br />

anodized, and snaps into the front cover with three stainless<br />

steel spring clips. The LED component features Ledil ® optics,<br />

an optical grade PC with high UV and temperature resistance.<br />

Internal accessories are installed between the reflector and<br />

inside cover. The adjustable socket assembly is mounted to<br />

the back of the lamp housing. The socket can be adjusted<br />

from the exterior of the fixture by turning an adjustment screw.<br />

ELECTRICAL Module<br />

The ballast is mounted on a prewired plate with a quick<br />

disconnect plug and removed by loosening two screws.<br />

Electronic metal halide ballasts are rated for -30°C starting,<br />

sound rating A. Sockets are pulse rated porcelain, bi-pin, G12<br />

for T-6 metal halide lamps. Compact fluorescent sockets are<br />

4 pin, GX24q-3,4 with an electronic ballast, -18°C starting.<br />

Wired at the factory for 277 volts, unless specified.<br />

AAL CodeLink SM<br />

FINISH<br />

Fixture finish consists of a five stage pretreatment regimen<br />

with a polymer primer sealer, oven dry off and top coated<br />

with a thermoset super TGIC polyester powder coat<br />

finish. The finish shall meet the AAMA 605.2 performance<br />

specification which includes passing a 3000 hour salt spray<br />

test for corrosion resistance.<br />

Installation<br />

The bottom of the ballast housing has a solid brass<br />

1/2" NPT nipple. The deep housings have two knockouts for<br />

other means of mounting.<br />

EISA compliance<br />

AAL is committed to complying with U.S. EISA requirements.<br />

All applicable products manufactured for sale in the United<br />

States after January 1, 2009, meet EISA requirements.<br />

Certification<br />

The fixture is listed with ETL for outdoor, wet location use,<br />
