Longevity<br />

We manufacture all our<br />

products to have a life<br />

span as long as the<br />

building or space they<br />

illuminate. The primary<br />

material used for both<br />

our luminaire and pole<br />

products is aluminum to<br />

resist corrosion and the<br />

need for maintenance.<br />

Aluminum will not need<br />

the periodic refinishing<br />

required of steel products<br />

that will eventually<br />

rust and corrode. All<br />

our internal parts and<br />

fasteners are made of<br />

aluminum or stainless<br />

steel. Our reflector<br />

enclosures are kept dust<br />

free and dry with the use<br />

of silicone gaskets to<br />

prevent light degradation<br />

from contaminants.<br />

Sustainability<br />

AAL develops<br />

our products with<br />

recycling and resource<br />

management in mind.<br />

We recycle all incoming<br />

packaging materials. Our<br />

products are shipped in<br />

easy to recycle packaging<br />

materials. Our state of the<br />

art finishing system uses<br />

eco friendly cleansing and<br />

preparation chemicals that<br />

are harmless enough to<br />

send to the drain without<br />

further processing. Our<br />

powder coating process<br />

eliminates the release of<br />

volatile chemicals into<br />

the atmosphere. The<br />

The perfect balance of traditional design themes<br />

with modern lighting performance.<br />

Well designed lighting provides safe, inviting illumination of streets, boulevards,<br />

parks, and parking areas, enhancing the attractiveness of retail lined streets and public<br />

gathering areas. People feel safer using public areas that have smooth, even illumination.<br />

That means objects and people are easily “seen” in their environment without deep<br />

shadows and blind spots. An evenly lit environment makes it much easier for the human<br />

eye to discern shapes and movement.<br />

Until the <strong>Promenade</strong> <strong>Series</strong>, period style lighting did not address the need for<br />

quality illumination on streets and pedestrian areas. The “acorn” style fixture had become<br />

the compromise of choice, with its many shortcomings of discomfort glare, high energy<br />

costs, and poor long term operating efficiency. Now, properly illuminated streets and<br />

pedestrian areas are possible with the <strong>Promenade</strong> <strong>Series</strong> from AAL. State of the<br />

art optical systems are incorporated in classically style fixtures. The reflector systems<br />

minimize glare, while providing more usable light on the ground where it is needed.<br />

The <strong>Promenade</strong> brings you the advantages of high quality illumination, low cost<br />

operation, and energy efficiency.<br />

Visibility<br />

<strong>Promenade</strong><br />

How well can you recognize<br />

objects at night?<br />

Not very well if the luminaires are extremely<br />

bright compared to the objects around<br />

them. The pictures on the left demonstrate<br />

this phenomenon. Notice the difference in<br />

the “visibility” or clarity of nearby objects<br />

illuminated by a <strong>Promenade</strong> fixture.<br />

Disability glare or “veiling luminance” (the<br />

contrast ratio between the brightness of<br />

the luminaire and surrounding objects) is<br />

greatly reduced. Visual perception is notably<br />

improved with the <strong>Promenade</strong> <strong>Series</strong>.<br />

Uniformity = Visibility + Efficiency<br />

A key element to good visibility when lighting an<br />

outdoor environment is uniformity. Uniformity is the<br />

ratio between the minimum to maximum footcandle<br />

levels in the environment. Our eyes only perceive the<br />

minimum and maximum levels, which is why a low<br />

minimum to maximum ratio is important.<br />

The <strong>Promenade</strong>’s focused optical systems allow<br />

you to precisely aim the light, resulting in a smooth<br />

even illumination of the environment. The uneven pools<br />

of light common with other fixtures are eliminated.<br />

Objects in the environment are easier to identify<br />

because the perceived lighting level between fixtures<br />

does not vary.<br />

Controlled illumination to minimize light pollution and glare<br />

Conventional glass and plastic refractor lensed fixtures pollute the environment with glare and uncontrolled light.<br />

The <strong>Promenade</strong>’s optics also address local ordinances for disability glare. Avoid light pollution and stray illumination of<br />

adjoining areas with the precision reflector systems built into every <strong>Promenade</strong> fixture.<br />

Six precision optical systems let you place the light exactly where you need it.<br />

• Full cutoff horizontal lamp reflectors are available in type 2,3,4, and 5 distribution patterns.<br />

• Cutoff vertical lamp reflectors are available in type 3 and 5 distribution patterns.<br />

• Reflectors are rotatable on 90° centers for proper aiming.<br />

• Lamp wattages range from 70 to 400 watts in all standard metal halide and high pressure sodium lamp types<br />

including utility standards. The Philips QL Induction Lamp is available for<br />

virtually maintenance free operation with 100,000 hour lamp life.<br />

• The <strong>Promenade</strong> offers T-6 ceramic metal halide lamps to insure color<br />

accuracy and consistency, important for retail applications.<br />

• One-piece memory retentive silicone gaskets keep the optical<br />

chamber free of dirt and contaminants. IP=55<br />

The QL Induction Lamp system from<br />

Phillips Lighting is a revolutionary<br />

lighting system.<br />

The Philips QL Induction Lamp System features longer life, better<br />

color rendering and “instant on” characteristics,<br />

compared to HID lamp sources.<br />

The Induction Lamp has a rated lamp life of 100,000 hours<br />

which means changing lamps every fifteen to twenty five years,<br />

instead of three to four years.<br />

• Maintenance free operation saves the cost<br />

of frequent relamping.<br />

• Excellent color rendition with 3000°K<br />

and 4000°K temperature available.<br />

• Instant on for security and emergency<br />

lighting applications.<br />

• Full electronic control for consistent light<br />

output and color under variable operating conditions.<br />

Three wattages available; IL-55 - 3500 initial lumens,<br />

Egress codes require proper lighting<br />

around the building perimeter.<br />

Egress code requires proper illumination at the<br />

building exterior enabling occupants to get a safe<br />

distance from the building in an emergency. The<br />

<strong>Promenade</strong> <strong>Series</strong> has a full range of emergency<br />

and egress lighting options. Five egress lighting<br />

options are available:<br />

1. RST - The instant restrike ballast reignites the<br />

lamp immediately after power is restored.<br />

2. QRS - The quartz restrike option uses<br />

an electronic controller to energize a<br />

quartz lamp, providing illumination until<br />

the HID lamp is started or restored to<br />

full brightness.<br />

3. QL - An auxiliary quartz lamp that is wired<br />

to a separate emergency power circuit.<br />

4. IL - Induction Lamp system. Instant on and<br />

instant restart lamp.<br />

5. EPA-T - Egress Post top Adapter. Wires to a<br />

120 volt auxiliary power source and activates<br />

a lower-wattage MR16 in the event of an<br />

emergency or power interruption. Slips over a<br />

4 in/100mm O.D. pole and only adds<br />

3 5/8 inches to the overall height of the pole.<br />

centers and educational facilities. The variety of fixtures sizes,<br />

mounting configurations and optical systems can be used to<br />

Housing<br />

The entire fixture shall be A356 cast aluminum, free of any<br />

porosity, foreign materials or cosmetic fillers. Castings<br />

shall be of uniform wall thickness, minimum .188” with no<br />

warping or mold shifting.<br />

The top shall hinge open by flipping up two integral latches.<br />

The concealed latch mechanism shall be all stainless steel.<br />

The top shall seal the lamp compartment with a full surround,<br />

molded silicone gasket. The lens shall be one piece clear,<br />

injection molded optical grade, DR acrylic, gasketed top<br />

and bottom with silicone gaskets, and held in place with six<br />

clips for easy lens replacement. The ballast assembly shall<br />

be accessible by turning two knobs, and then lifting out the<br />

ballast module. The ballast module shall be sealed from the<br />

lamp chamber with a silicone gasket. Quick disconnects<br />

shall be used for all electrical connections. All internal and<br />

external hardware shall be stainless steel.<br />

Reflector Module<br />

The optical assembly shall be completely sealed with<br />

a silicone gasket to prevent dust, insect or moisture<br />

contamination. The reflector module shall consist of<br />

segmented, specular and semi specular Alzak ® panels<br />

precisely formed and positioned within a die cast aluminum<br />

housing. The reflector module rotatable on ninety degree<br />

increments for proper field positioning. Reflectors shall<br />

meet the ANSI-IES standard for full cutoff in horizontal<br />

models.<br />

PRMS<br />

PRMD<br />

Ballasts shall be high power factor rated for -30°C starting.<br />

The ballast shall be mounted to a cast holder for maximum<br />

heat dissipation. Medium and mogul base porcelain<br />

sockets shall be pulse rated. The electrical assembly shall<br />

be installed and prewired in the fixture. Sockets for T-6<br />

lamps are G12 type. High output fluorescent lamps shall<br />

be powered by electronic ballast and shall be rated for a<br />

minimum starting temperature of -18 o C.<br />

Mounting<br />

Post top mounting PRMS & PRMN: the fixture shall slip over<br />

a 4 in/100 mm O.D. pole and be secured to the pole with<br />

three stainless steel set screws.<br />

Arm or wall mounting PRMS & PRMN: The fixture shall be<br />

welded to the cast arm.<br />

Arm or wall mounting PRMD: The fixture shall attach to a<br />

transition casting that is welded to the arm. The transition<br />

piece shall attach to the fixture with three stainless steel 1/4-<br />

20 bolts and sealed with a silicone gasket. For WMA36D,<br />

WMA35D, TRA5D, TRA6D cast arms are welded to fixture.<br />

(Not available with PRMD).<br />

tool-less Relamping<br />

The top of the fixture shall hinge open for relamping. Two<br />

integral latches shall be flipped up to open the fixture for<br />

relamping.<br />

Finish<br />

Fixture finish shall consist of a five stage pretreatment<br />

regimen with a polymer primer sealer, oven dry off and top<br />

coated with a thermoset super TGIC polyester powder coat<br />

finish. The finish shall meet the AAMA 605.2 performance<br />

specification which includes passing a 3000 hour salt<br />

spray test for corrosion resistance.<br />

EISA Compliance<br />

AAL is committed to complying with U.S. EISA requirements.<br />

All applicable products manufactured for sale in the United<br />

States after January 1, 2009, meet EISA requirements.<br />

Certification<br />

Fixtures shall be listed with ETL for outdoor, wet location use,<br />

UL 1598 and Canadian CSA C22.2 no.250. IP = 55.<br />

Warranty<br />

PRMN<br />

Fixture is warranted for three years. Ballast components<br />

carry the ballast manufacturer’s limited warranty. Any<br />

unauthorized return, repair, replacement or modification<br />

of the Product(s) shall void this warranty. This warranty<br />

applies only to the use of the Product(s) as intended by<br />

AAL and does not cover any misapplication or misuse of<br />

said Product(s), or installation in hazardous or corrosive<br />

Housing<br />

The ballast housing shall be a one piece, high strength casting<br />

with an integral heat sink for the ballast assembly. Housing shall<br />

be A356 cast free of any porosity, foreign materials or cosmetic<br />

fillers. The hood shall be spun aluminum welded circumferentially<br />

to the ballast housing. The housing shall have an inner rolled<br />

flange to support the door frame. The door frame shall be an<br />

aluminum casting, hinged to the housing. The door frame shall<br />

be sealed to the housing with a molded silicone gasket and be<br />

secured with four captive screws.The lens on the PRM2 and<br />

PRM3 shall be clear, tempered glass sealed to the door frame<br />

with a silicone gasket. Vertical lamp fixture shall have a sag glass<br />

lens, the horizontal lamp fixture shall have a flat glass lens. The<br />

optional drop lens on the PRM4 shall be molded, optical grade<br />

DR acrylic. All internal and external hardware is stainless steel.<br />

Reflector Module<br />

The optical assembly shall consist of an die cast aluminum<br />

housing, sealed with a silicone gasket to prevent dust, insect<br />

or moisture contamination. The reflector module shall consist of<br />

segmented, specular and semi-specular Alzak ® panels precisely<br />

formed and positioned within the housing and rotatable on<br />

ninety degree increments for proper field positioning. Reflectors<br />

shall meet the ANSI-IES standard for full cutoff in horizontal<br />

models.<br />

Electrical<br />

All electrical components shall be U.L. recognized. Ballasts<br />

shall be high power factor rated for -30°C starting. The ballast<br />

assembly plate shall be mounted to the cast housing for<br />

maximum heat dissipation. Medium and mogul base porcelain<br />

sockets shall be pulse rated. Sockets for horizontal metal halide<br />

lamps are pin orientated and include a lamp stabilizer. The<br />

ballast assembly shall be installed and prewired in the fixture.<br />

High output fluorescent lamps shall be powered by electronic<br />

ballast and shall be rated for a minimum starting temperature of<br />

-18º C. (PRM3 only)<br />

Mounting<br />

The fixture shall be welded to the cast arm for mounting the TRA5<br />

and TRA6 arm.<br />

Wall mounting the WMA35 or WMA36: the fixture shall be welded<br />

to the cast arm.<br />

Arm or wall mounting other AAL arms: The fixture shall attach to<br />

a transition casting that is welded to the arm. The transition piece<br />

shall attach to the fixture with three stainless steel 1/4-20 bolts<br />

and sealed with a silicone gasket.<br />

Post top fitter: the cast fitter shall be welded to the yoke and slips<br />

over a 4 in/100 mm O.D. pole for PRM3 or a 5 in/127 mm O.D.<br />

pole for PRM2 & PRM4 and secured with six stainless steel set<br />

screws.<br />

tool-less Relamping<br />

The lens door frame of the fixture shall hinge down for relamping.<br />

Four captive screws shall be loosened to open the fixture for<br />

relamping (PRM2 & PRM4). One captive screw shall be loosened<br />

to open the fixture on the PRM3.<br />

Finish<br />

Fixture finish shall consist of a five stage pretreatment regimen<br />

with a polymer primer sealer, oven dry off and top coated with a<br />

thermoset super TGIC polyester powder coat finish. The finish shall<br />

meet the AAMA 605.2 performance specification which includes<br />

passing a 3000 hour salt spray test for corrosion resistance.<br />

EISA Compliance<br />

AAL is committed to complying with U.S. EISA requirements.<br />

All applicable products manufactured for sale in the United<br />

States after January 1, 2009, meet EISA requirements.<br />

Certification<br />

Fixtures shall be listed with ETL for outdoor, wet location use, UL<br />

1598 and Canadian CSA C22.2 no.250 IP = 54.<br />

Warranty<br />

Fixture is warranted for three years. Ballast components carry the<br />

ballast manufacturer’s limited warranty. Any unauthorized return,<br />

repair, replacement or modification of the Product(s) shall void this<br />

warranty. This warranty applies only to the use of the Product(s)<br />

as intended by AAL and does not cover any misapplication or<br />

misuse of said Product(s), or installation in hazardous or corrosive<br />

environments. Contact AAL for complete warranty language,<br />

exceptions, and limitations.<br />
