Preparation For Initiation
Ideally, the candidate should find his way to the door of Freemasonry on
his own. If a man senses the stirrings in his heart for a deeper
understanding of life than that he has heretofore found, he will seek until
he finds the Fraternity. This turning of the heart is really the beginning of
his initiation. Therefore, each candidate who comes seeking light is said
to be first prepared in his heart.
While Freemasonry is not a religion, its ceremonies are of a serious
nature, dignified in their presentation and impart teachings that, if
properly understood, obligate a man to lead a better life. To get the
greatest good from the ceremonies, a candidate should first prepare his
mind to understand and absorb these teachings. The candidate should
pay strict attention to every part of the ceremony, in order that he may
gain some understanding of the teachings of Freemasonry. The methods
we use in teaching may be new and unusual to the candidate, but these
methods have been used for many centuries and have not changed
significantly since they originated. Finally, he should remember that every
Mason in the Lodge room is his friend and brother. ~ calodges.org
Cherish your vision and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blueprints
of your ultimate achievements. ~ Napoleon Hill
Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who
knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can
be summarized in four C s. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy.
Adversity cause some men to break; others to break records. ~ William Arthur Ward
How hard it is, sometimes, to trust the evidence of one's senses! How reluctantly the
mind consents to reality. ~ Norman Douglas
News from the East
Hello my Brothers,
I would like to start with thanking all who helped with the
Master Mason Degree at our last meeting. We had another
great turn out. I am so proud of our lodge and our officers for
such a great job. Also special thanks to R.W:. Sam Scardina
for filling in here and there like he always does for us, and
thanks to Jim “Ike” Eichelberger for his education on the five
points of fellowship, and most of all congratulations to
John Fuentes of Cape Coral Lodge #367, Eric Blinn and
Jim Jewel from our lodge upon being raised to the sublime
degree of Master Mason.
The primary symbolism of the Degree is that of death and
transfiguration. It is not that Masonry claims to be a path to
salvation, that is the role of religion and is between you and
God. Rather we assert that there is a life to come and that we
should make preparation for it. We also assert that each of us
can and must make a difference in the world we live in , and
that the example we set and the results of our interactions
with others are critical. An essential part of all that is a real
understanding of ourselves and our connection with the
universe. The lesson of the Master Mason Degree is that the
incidents and events of life are uncertain , but mere life,
simple existence, is not the most important thing.
Considerations of honor, integrity, spirituality, and living a
life dedicated to productivity and the service of others are
more important than our individual survival on this earth.
So I have one question. Are you the container, or are you the
contents? Something to think about from the East.
May God bless our Lodge and all Brothers who enter her walls.
