General Adams proceeded to Headquarters SAC, as deputy<br />
director of operations. Following this assignment, General<br />
Adams served as deputy chief of staff, Operations - Plans, and<br />
as deputy director, Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff. In<br />
June 1982, he became chief of staff, SAC.<br />
General Adams retired with 8,000 flying hours, 1,100 of<br />
which were in SEA operations. His decorations include <strong>the</strong><br />
Distinguished Service Medal, <strong>the</strong> Department of Defense<br />
Superior Service Medal, <strong>the</strong> Legion of Merit w/1OLC, <strong>the</strong><br />
Meritorious Service Medal, <strong>the</strong> Air Medal w/1OLC, <strong>the</strong> Air<br />
Force Commendation Medal w/3OLCs, and <strong>the</strong> Combat Crew<br />
Medal. When he retired from active duty in February 1983,<br />
Chris Adams became associate director of Los Alamos<br />
National Laboratory. He joined Andrew Corporation in March<br />
1986, as vice president for business development. He worked<br />
extensively in various areas of <strong>the</strong> former Soviet Union from<br />
1991 through 1995, directing <strong>the</strong> recovery of <strong>the</strong>ir nearcollapsed<br />
commercial communications systems.<br />
General Adams has been honored as a Distinguished<br />
Alumnus of both Tarleton State University and Texas A & M<br />
University – Commerce, and is a graduate of both Industrial<br />
College of <strong>the</strong> Armed Forces and Naval Postgraduate School.<br />
He has published articles in several professional journals,<br />
including <strong>the</strong> Air University Digest, Combat Crew Magazine,<br />
and The Journal of Electronic Defense.<br />
