Andy Stochansky<br />

Andy Stochansky, Canadian singer/<br />
songwriter/multi-instrumentalist now<br />
living in Los Angeles, started his career<br />
as a drummer (seven years with Ani<br />
DiFranco), then went solo in 1999. He<br />
released three albums independently<br />
and two with RCA Victor. Then Stochansky<br />
made a career transition to that<br />
of songwriter, writing or cowriting songs for Ferry Corsten,<br />
Marlon Roudette, Dragonette & Lenno, James Durbin, JP<br />
Hoe, and the Goo Goo Dolls. He also wrote the hit “Shine”<br />
which was covered by 2003 Australian Idol winner Shannon<br />
Noll and debuted at #1 on the Australian Singles chart.<br />

world. Her experience<br />

her effortless musicality.<br />
Priyanka Varkey was introduced<br />
to swing dancing in<br />
2012 and fell in love with it. She has been an active member<br />
of the Dalhousie Swing Dance Society as a volunteer, an exec<br />
member, and a teacher ever since. Although she mainly does<br />
lindy hop, she also dances blues, salsa, bachata, and some<br />
tango.<br />

Sylvia Tyson became one of the music<br />
world’s most recognizable and respected<br />
names in the early 1960s as half of one of<br />
the biggest music acts in the business.<br />
Great Speckled Bird, one of the 13 albums<br />
recorded by Ian & Sylvia, is acknowledged as<br />
being evolutionary in the birth of today’s country rock sound.<br />
Sylvia’s distinguished solo career led to many critically acclaimed<br />
albums during the 70s, and more recent endeavours<br />
include her much lauded one-woman theatrical tour, River<br />
Road & Other Stories. Sylvia is a recipient of the Order of<br />
Canada, is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame,<br />
and has garnered many other awards over the years. Deep<br />
Roots is honoured to have Sylvia Tyson grace our stage.<br />

Wee Giant Theatre performances<br />
and workshops are a unique blend of<br />
storytelling, clowning, dance, music,<br />
masks, colourful costumes, and puppets.<br />
Monika Wildemann, Artistic Director, creates the puppets,<br />
props & costumes, all made from recycled materials. Moni’s<br />
larger-than-life Wee Giants have been the heart of Deep<br />
Roots’ Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade since its beginning. Join<br />
the Wee Giants on Saturday as they once again make their<br />
majestic way through <strong>Wolfville</strong>’s downtown (and into our<br />
hearts) in a colourful, musical, magical procession.<br />
