Butterflies are notable for their unusual life
cycle with an egg stage, a larval caterpillar
stage, an inactive pupal stage, and a spectacular
metamorphosis into a familiar and colourful
winged adult form.
In this stamp issue, 4 butterfly species in
Singapore, namely the Blue Glassy Tiger, the
Common Birdwing, the Common Posy and the
Tailed Jay are beautifully illustrated and featured.
This stamp issue preludes the upcoming
Butterfly Trail at Orchard Road. Spearheaded by
the Nature Society (Singapore), supported by the
National Parks Board and Singapore Environment
Council, the 4km long trail starts at the gates
of the Botanic Gardens, continues down Orchard
Road and ends in Fort Canning Park.
The trail is being billed as the first of its kind in
the world and visitors will get specially produced
maps to help them navigate and guide them to the
butterfly hot spots.

densities in the world, is well known as a Garden
City. In the midst of our population, over 2000
recorded native plant species can be found, and
there are about two million trees planted along
roadsides, in parks and protected nature areas.
Rain Tree, Angsana, Yellow Flame, Senegal
Mahogany, Broad-leafed Mahogany, Tembusu,
Sea Apple, Saga, Trumpet Tree and Sea Almond.
How well do we know our trees? Take a closer
look at ten of the most commonly found trees
in Singapore. They have always been around us
…so, let’s take some time to get to know them:

In 2007, the Frangipanni and Torch Ginger
were beautifully illustrated and featured,
while in 2009, to make the Definitives series
more varied, the Blue Pea Vine (Clitoria
ternatea) and the Pigeon Orchid (Dendrobium
crumenatum) were added.
This year, to emphasize that Singapore is a
bustling metropolis nestled in a lush mantle
of tropical greenery, another two flowering
plants – the Simpoh Air (Dillenia suffruticosa)
and Singapore Rhododendron (Melastoma
malabathricum), are featured.

Stamp Exhibition

The London 2010: Festival of Stamps marks the
centenary of the accession of George V, the
philatelist king. Intended as a year long celebration
of stamps, stamp design and postal heritage,
it is supported by several museums such as the
British Museum, Museum of London Docklands
and the British Postal Museum & Archive.
One major highlight of the Festival of Stamps
is the London 2010 International Stamp Exhibition,
organised by the Stamp World Exhibitions. Held
at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London
from 8th – 15th May, this exhibition feature the
finest competitive exhibits from collectors around
the world, plus stamp dealers, auctioneers and
postal administrations, including a major presence
from Royal Mail. This show takes place in London
just once every ten years and is not to be missed
by enthusiasts.
Singapore Post will be represented by Harry Allen
in the London 2010 International Stamp exhibition
and will be releasing an exclusive exhibition
Miniature sheet featuring the exhibition logo and
the third animal in the Chinese Zodiac Cycle, the
Tiger, as well as a set of commemorative covers.

NEW SAM LABEL:
Destination Singapore
A new postage label design on the theme
“Destination Singapore” was put to use with
effect from 22 Feb 2010. The first pilot
launch of this label will be introduced at
one Self-Service Automated Machines (SAM),
S151 and S712, at Singapore Post Centre
located at 10 Eunos Road 8, Singapore 408600,
followed by the Philatelic Outlets by 15 Mar
2010. The new labels were then progressively
introduced at all Self-Service Automated
Machines from 16 Mar 2010.
In addition, look out for the latest Souvenir
Cover, “Destination Singapore” by Singapore
Philatelic Bureau. This souvenir cover is sold at
$0.25 each and is available at all Post Offices.

CTO stamps.
All mail orders for philatelic products (excluding Annual Collections and Premium
Gifts) are subject to a handling charge as follows:

Please add S$2.24 if you require registration service within Singapore or add $2.20 for Brunei Darussalam/
Malaysia/Overseas. Customers who also order Annual collections need not pay the registration fee.
The Singapore Philatelic Bureau will absorb all GST payable for the registration fee and handling charge.
Customers who order Annual Collections and Premium Gifts are required to pay an
additional handling charge as follows:

Remittance for orders should include the handling charge and registration fee in
addition to the value of the items ordered. Insufficient payment will be met by a
reduction in the value of stamps sent.
Each order should be accompanied by a remittance which may be in the form of
credit card, postal order, money order, cheque or bank draft made out in Singapore
currency. Remittance must be payable to “Singapore Post Limited” and crossed “A/C
Payee” only. Do not send cash by post.
Credit card payment is only available to mail order customers ie customers who
place orders by post.
The stock list is subject to change without prior notice. Please allow about three
weeks for supply of your order.
