consultants and public partners in the field of medical technology meet at Gera
to discuss at an exclusive event cooperation, meet partners and to kick off the
fair MEDICA 2015. Interested parties have the opportunity to travel together to
the MEDICA to Dusseldorf by bus the next day.
Pecha Kucha means in Japanese onomatopoeic "confused chatter". Each speaker presents
exactly 20 slides for 20 seconds each. This format prevents the "Death by PowerPoint"
syndrome and helps to provide a quick overview of actual trends.
The market for medical devices, products and systems is one of the most attractive growth
markets the world over. The development and manufacture of medical devices and products
has reached an extraordinarily high level in Germany. Here, health care and profound knowhow
meet to achieve new advances in important basic technologies, such as
microelectromechanical systems, laser and materials research and information technologies.

Central Germany has excellent scientific, clinical and infrastructural conditions for researching,
developing and manufacturing medical devices and equipment and for financing research and
market entry. Universities, transfer centers and research institutes are much sought-after as
partners. A large number of highly trained workers, laboratory managers and technology
experts are involved in this technology field. These conditions form the ground on which
numerous new medical equipment firms spring up, and public and private investors offer
attractive financial instruments
The region offers low development costs, quick approval, funding, private equity and a broad
expert network. Therefore it is ideal for market entry of innovative medical products and
services. The region is a top location for international companies establishing a branch in
Germany.
Thuringia is well-known for applied and industrial research as well as the related knowledge
and technology transfer within the industry in addition to intensive basic research. Joint R&D

diagnostic and therapeutic systems in order to keep up with international trends in medical

The attractive Haus Schulenburg is an impressive environment for intensive exchange. The
architectonical total work of art offers visitors the opportunity to experience the revolutionary
design ideas of Henry van de Velde. 100 years ago he created the building complex for the
wealthy textile manufacturer, orchid grower and art collector Paul Schulenburg in Gera, one of
the richest cities in Germany of that time. Both the main and auxiliary buildings are
authentically restored, and the interiors arranged with original furniture.
