clean. First edition from 1919, and one of the nicest copies that
907 1930 Chicago Cubs Original
Photo Collection from Batboy Fair - VG .100
This is a small collection of original photographs from the bat
boy of the Chicago Cubs taken during the 1930’s. Ten pictures
are smaller and range in size from 3.375 X 4.375 to 4 X 6. Two
of these smaller photos are stamped by the famous Chicago
photographer, George C. Burke on the verso. While a couple
may picture the bat boy, others picture players and action shots
taken of the field. From pencil notations made on the verso of a
few, some may have been taken while playing in Brooklyn. Six
other photographs are 8x10 and once again include the bat boy
pictured in some and players in and out of uniform in others including
two photographs of a player with his left arm in a sling.
Among the few players that are identified by notation include
Joe McCarthy and Hack Wilson. The overall condition is fair to
very good with many of the larger photos exhibiting chipping
and tears and several of the smaller ones exhibiting small thumb
tack holes and one photo in particular a small border tear and
crease.
World Series Programs
943 1937 WSP At Yankees GVG ...............60
Scored in pencil, this has a tackhole running through the program
near the very top border that is fairly subtle. Program has
corner wear on the cover, and some general wear. Not bad at all
for the grade.
944 1941 WSP At Dodgers VG ..................60
Classic cover is one of my personal favorites. Lower grade but
not abused program has been folded heavily by the left side. Unscored,
the cover retains bright color and terrific display value.
945 1941 WSP At Yankees VG-Ex/Ex ....100
Fun program with a great patriotic cover. The spine is fairly
tight, and there is some very fine creasing by the lower right corner
of the otherwise clean cover. This has been scored in pencil,
with one loose but complete scoresheet.
946 1945 WSP At Detroit VG ..................60
Scored in pencil, this has wear typical of a VG program. There
are various creases, but the spine is tight. The program retains
bright, original color.
947 1948 WSP At Cleveland Ex ...................60
Very bright and crisp program is unscored, with very clean interior
pages. The spine is tight, with some very fine corner type
creases on the cover. The color is terrific.
948 1949 WSP At Yankees VG-Ex ............36
Unscored, this is a pleasing VG-Ex program with no technical
flaws, a good spine and bright color. Wear by the upper right
corner is the only real distraction. Popular World Series.
949 1950 WSP At Phlladelphia Good...............15
Unscored, a spine split and wear on the bottom and right borders
keep this at Good.
950 1952 WSP At Yankees Ex ...................60
Clean book is unscored, with nice interior pages. The spine is
tight, and the cover is a clean Ex or better with no flaws.
951 1957 WSP At Milwaukee VG-Ex ............23
Unscored, this has been folded at one time, otherwise Ex-Mt.
952 1958 WSP At Milwaukee NM .................45
Scored through 10 innings, this has a very tight spine and a
rather clean cover. A touch at the upper right corner keeps this
from being world class. Fine Near Mint program.
953 1962 WSP At San Francisco VG unscored .15
954 1963 WSP At Yankees VG-Ex ............18
956 1950 All Star Game VG-Ex ............75
Scored in pencil, this has not been folded and retains all of its
original color. The spine is fairly tight, general wear keeps this at
a conservative VG-Ex.
957 1951 All Star Game Ex .................100
Unscored, someone just wrote the names of a few players on the
scorecard and did not get any further. Very pleasing and attractive
Ex example of this condition sensitive program. This very
attractive silver and green program is very susceptible to wear
and is often found in terrible condition.
958 1952 All Star Game Ex ...................90
Somewhat elusive program, these are usually missing from these
runs. Unscored, the interior pages are quite clean. The cover is
rather clean, with some slight wear towards the bottom of the
spine the only possible distraction. Nice piece.
959 1954 All Star Game VG ..................75
Scored neatly in pencil, this retains bright color and has clean
interior pages. Moderate folding in the center keeps this at a
high-end VG.
960 1955 All Star Game Ex ...................53
Fun program has a great cover with the color pennants of the
various teams set above a stadium. Unscored, the interior pages
are particularly clean. Some foxing by the top border is the only
real flaw here. The spine is tight, and this has not been folded.
961 1956 All Star Game VG-Ex/Ex ......30
Pleasing mid-grade program is just shy of Ex due to wear. Cover
presents quite well, scored in pencil. 1950s All Star Game programs
do seem undervalued in this market.
962 1957 All Star Game VG-Ex ............23
Unscored, this has clean interior pages. Cover has been lightly
971 1950 Brooklyn Dodgers VG-Ex ................30
