The Community Coalition & The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program<br />
The Community Coalition is the exciting initi<strong>at</strong>ive supported<br />
by Committees in New York and Pennsylvania to<br />
improve the lives of people in communities northwest of<br />
Philadelphia.<br />
The Community Coalition was formed in 1991 with two<br />
purposes:<br />
■ To insure th<strong>at</strong> member organiz<strong>at</strong>ions provide increased<br />
affordable and transitional housing, employment assistance<br />
to marginalized community members, one-to-one<br />
advocacy for people with disabilities, child care and<br />
family support, and promotion of civic and cultural life -<br />
in innov<strong>at</strong>ive ways th<strong>at</strong> respect and enhance the dignity<br />
of every individual; and<br />
■ To cre<strong>at</strong>e a collabor<strong>at</strong>ive, streamlined, low-overhead<br />
model for financial cooper<strong>at</strong>ion among non-profits so<br />
th<strong>at</strong> more of every don<strong>at</strong>ed dollar would go straight to<br />
the work of gre<strong>at</strong>est priority.<br />
The Tomorrow’s Leaders, similar to the Coalition Young<br />
Friends in Philadelphia, is a New York/New Jersey committee<br />
of younger adults who have a strong belief in the<br />
Coalition’s mission and who want to contribute to the<br />
better welfare of others. The Committee also strives to<br />
involve its peers in promoting social awareness, assistance<br />
and responsibility with positive, interactive projects.<br />
