PRESS
RELEASE
This 34th edition of
ModAmont has had
its dates changed,
it will now take place
from Wednesday
September 19
to Friday
September 21,
2012.
297 exhibitors will present their collections
of trimming and supplies for the Fall-
Winter 13/14 season. While the market
and economic environment remain
unsteady, the trade show will host a
comparable and even larger offer than in
2008 (reminder: there were 291 exhibitors
in February 2008 and 302 in September).
We also appreciate the return of former
exhibitors who have not participated in
the show in recent seasons (Coespunt /
Completex, DA.RI.FUR, Dentelles Michel
Storme, Dora, Haco Etiquetas, Henri
Grüber, Labeltex, Scavini, Yves Salomon).
We also note the reinforced presence of
fur suppliers: there are no less than 8 fur
exhibitors : Ardigo Roberto (IT), DA.RI.FUR
(IT), Henri Grüber (FR), Rinfreschi (IT),
Salisbury (AT), Siozos (GR), Jean Terzakou
(FR), Yves Salomon (FR). Fur will be an
important trimming this season.
This high-level offer confirms the desire of
companies to reinforce their international
momentum commercially and open up to
new markets in this difficult period. In this
context, ModAmont confirms its role as a
leader in the trimming market.
24 new exhibitors will make their
appearance this season. Among them
are 3 producers of sewing threads.
These industry leaders will reinforce an
offer that has not been very present at
the show up to now: Amann (FR), Cittadini
(IT) and Gunold (DE). In keeping with a
desire to develop the offer of costume
jewelry components which now represents
15% of the exhibitors, we note the arrival
of 3 exhibitors in this sector: GSM (IT) offers
rhinestones and stones from the Czech
company Preciosa, Lartigianabottoni (IT)
presents jewelry and trimming in resin or
molded plastic and Shine Art (KR) specializes
in sew-on stones, jewelry settings
and rhinestones. Also discover the
heat-formed trimming and molded fabrics
from French company TFI R&D and
the incredible collection of handmade
feather trimming from the Italian company
Galeottipiume.
3.A REBOURS
Inspirations
Turntables and barking mad dandiysm
We accumulate, we juxtapose, we dynamite, and rework the
codes of good taste. A big, chic, kitsch bazaar shakes up
forms and colors in a collision of styles. Crazy humor and vintage
remakes, bizarre ladies and gentlemen turn the tables on an
esthetically incorrect, baroque style.
Styling
Extravagance and crazy kitsch
Giant fur hats in the style of « Dickens » hats and Dr. Watson
cape jackets, psychedelic brocades and velvet jacquards,
oversize knit scarves and huge pockets, tapestry bags and
fobs watches borrowed from Alice’s rabbit, X-large checked
tartan plaids and retro 50’s leopard prints, fusty lace and porcelain
Inspirations
Comics strips and detective novels
A seething, urban metropolis inspired by comic strips. Superheros
and the Batmobile, Catwoman and her feline seduction
blend in the black, sulfury universe of 40’s and 50’s American
detective novels. Lurking shadows and variations on black,
glowing lamplights and expressionistic chiaroscuros, Art
Deco details and Hipster elegance all reinvent tailoring.
Styling
Tailoring and fiction
Flattened-down felt and double-breasted jackets, lustrous
beaver collars or satin-lapeled dressing gowns with micro
motifs, we revive the elegant wardrobe of men from the 40’s.
Slashed smooth leather and zippers that open in back, shiny
Styling
Imaginative bestiary and petrified forest
Disheveled, bewitching fur, glossy salamander scales, nocturnal
birds and bronze chimaera cast their spell over us. Ghostly
where the air is so pure we can bathe in it,… let’s begin again
where the world began. » (M. Berger). Cristalized nature and
digital art, cryogenics and frosty transparencies let us wander
through our inner landscapes.
Styling
Experimental work on materials
Sheath pants and topaz-colored tunics, violet reflections of
amethyst and graded, airy pastels lighten up grey silhouettes
6th sense
The sense of accessories
A scenography that pays homage to
Beauty and the Beast, inspired by the
work of Jean Cocteau.
A mysterious forest, shadowy foliage,
graceful chimera and the unicorn, with
its legendary purity, draw us into the
showytale world of an extravagant, surreal
season.
A myriad of baroque hanging lamps and
nocturnal blues, the shadow-and-light
games of cut-out partitions and an
asymmetric ceiling immerse the forum in
the shimmery softness of a strange,
dusky atmosphere.
FORUMS
The special « Bag & Shoe Corner » forum
features exhibitor components destined for
the fashion accessories industry.
At a time when we seek new reference
points and our thirst for novelties is
confronted by an uncertain future, we have
decided to organize this forum in stories.
They will satisfy a desire for metamorphoses
and a need to transcend the
everyday.
They will help us more clearly show our
differences and cultural subtleties as we
project ourselves into the future.
This « Ariane’s Thread » will tie four legends
together to let us to play the suggestive
against the surreal.
This multi-level optical game will sublimate
components that are ideal for Winter 13-14
fashion accessories.
Baroque aristocrats
Meanwhile, Beauty goes back to the castle to find the dying
Beast who, under her loving gaze, will be transformed into a
Prince Charming and whisk her off to his royal kingdom.
A colorful, folklore approach, a taste for childhood and gaiety
The metamorphosis continues through this colorful personality.
Tlaloc, the master of thunder, either transforms man into an
element of nature or gives nature human characteristics.
Romantic frenzy
This young girl, the symbol of unhappy love, sits on a rock that
bears her name, singing her captivating song.
Sailors pass by in boats and hear her. Betwitched by her lovely
voice, they forget to steer the boat and wreck their ship.
Shifts in time and space
Strange, interplanetary spaceships move through space in an
undefined time. We dream of discovering new asteroids and
lost monoliths or of uncovering the mysteries of the galaxy.
JEWEL
CASE
This imaginary place begins at a mirrored
« showy » lake with a «golden tree» and
mysterious stone door. Overrun by
brambles, covered in moss, this fantasy
garden is inhabited by showies who cast
spells on anyone who enters.
The grass is yellowed where snow has
broken its graceful sway and shriveled,
russet-colored ferns cover the winter
ground in a carpet saturated by extraordinary
colours. We hear the ivy grow, the
trees shiver… and the song of the wind.
Back to the present, twigs, brambles
and roots metamorphosize as natural
jewelry. Branches tighten around quartz
medallions, climbing ivy is transformed
into interlaced necklaces and engraved
metal bracelets imitate bark. Tapestry
cameos unveil their secrets. Enameled
foliage hides berries like semi-precious
stones. Nettings in spidery metal entrap
antique bronze chimeras.
This season, the Jewel Case forum
slips on a magic coat!
Enchanted accessories and creations
escape from a bewitching tree that visitors
will discover as they wander through
a forest of golden branches. Inspired by
the world of showy tales, sublime
legends, Art Nouveau influences and
a collaboration with artist and jewelry
designer Tzuri Gueta… this forum will
cast its spell over you!
TZURI GUETA
TZURI
GUETA
Designer, artist, craftsman, scientist, explorer,
Tzuri Gueta is a hard man to label.
After earning a degree in textile engineering
at Shenkar College in Israel, Tzuri Gueta
arrived in Paris in 1996 and went to work
for Trend Union, a trend forecasting
agency founded by the legendary
priestess of style Li Edelkoort.
Then he met Thierry Mugler. It was the
first step on the way to success and a
real interchange developed between the
two men. Since then, there have been
many fruitful collaborative projects with
the Haute Couture industry including the
fashion houses of Christian Lacroix,
Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Dior,
Armani and lately Chanel and Issey
Miyake.
At the same time Gueta pursued his
quest for material. One encounter was
to prove particularly decisive: silicone. It
quickly became his material of choice.
He invented a technique that he called
“lace fed with silicone” and took out a
patent for the method. Spurred on by
this impetus, he founded, with a jewelry
designer, Caroline Auraix, a company,
Silka Design, and began to produce his
own line of jewelry made of a mixture of
textile and silicone. These pieces were
imbued with such an innovative spirit
that they almost immediately won over
designers at the vanguard of fashion
as well as venues dedicated to artistic
creation, such as the Printemps du Design
boutique at the Centre Pompidou in
Paris and the MoMA store in New York.
But the sensitive, organic and futuristic
world of Tzuri Gueta is not restricted to
textiles and fashion. With the designer
Tony Jouanneau, the multi-faceted artist’s
explorations in design earned him the
Grand Prix de la Création awarded by
the City of Paris; and the adventure
continued into the territory of art with
a one-man exhibition at the Tel Aviv
Museum of Modern Art.
The latest of Tzuri Gueta’s many hats to
date is that of gallery owner. To celebrate
his tenth year in France, Gueta is opening
his own workshop cum gallery under
the arches of the Viaduc des Arts -
a prestigious place that is sure to continue
to spark enthusiasm.
