Cleaning an Maintanance Advice for LUCEM

Preface
Dear customer.
Like any product of daily use, LUCEM shows marks of use. The more the surface is used, the more often
a cleaning and maintanance procedure should be renewed. When following the descirbed rules, the
marks of use will be reduced to a minimum and you may have a long time a very nice LUCEM.
Surface protection
LUCEM light transmitting concrete will be impregnated with a hydrophobic surface. Thus, the entire surface
provides a conservation. Anyway, it still is a concrete surface, with the intention to suck liquids.
Please handle carefully in combination with colored liquids.
If any colors or colored liquids should have been applied to the concrete surface, please remove immedeately
with a dry sponge and finally cleaning with water.
Grease
Coarse grease should be removed with a ceramic glass cooktop cleaner. After that, cleaning the area
with a glass cleaning detergent and wiping with a dry towel.
Acids
Genereally any acid can leave makrs on LUCEM light transmitting concrete. The intensity of the marks
depends from type of acid, concentration and exposure time.
Heat
When high temperature devices or open fire come into contact with LUCEM in case of short term exposure
nothing typically happens. When exposure time becomes too long, the optical fibers start to degenerate
resulting in irreparable damages. Try to avoid temperatures above 140 °C.

Scraping
Generally LUCEM is very resistance against cutting and scraping marks. Please avoid the use of abrasive
cleaning detergents or cloths for cleaning LUCEM panels.
Cleaning
We suggest to use pH-neutral and non-abrasive detergents or natural stone detergents for cleaning.
Please never use acids, e.g. vine- gar, benzine, turpentine, acetone, antiseptics containing phosphoric
acid or alkalinous products for cleaning because they may attack concrete surfaces.
Before using, please try the effect of the cleaner on a nearly invisible spot on the LUCEM panel. For cleaning,
a sponge or a cloth should be used. The use of abrasive cleaning cloths or sponges should be avoided
to protect LUCEM panels against scratching.
All cleaners should be applied sparingly on a cloth or on a sponge, not directly on the concrete. Cleaning
should be made with regularly circulating movements. Any colour differences that may appear after
cleaning will disappear automatically. The use of water jets for cleaning will damage the concrete‘s surface
irreversibly, please avoid this way of cleaning.
Maintenance
The effect of the impregnation may decrease due to supply level and cleaning frequency. For maintenance
of LUCEM, the hydrophobic effect should be refreshed regularly from time to. Please try the effect
with a drop of water. If the water dripps off the surface, tthe impregnation is still effective. A refreshing
of the hydrophobic effect can be progressed at any time. We suggest du use Lithofin Fleckstop W for
concrete elements. Please pay attention to the processing and safety instructions of the fabricator.
