GOALS of Senior Schooling
1. Achieve WACE
– Western Australia Certificate of Education =
Secondary Graduation
2. Receive an ATAR [Australian Tertiary
Admission Rank] or Certificate II
• Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank OR
• Complete a certificate II or higher qualification

COURSE SELECTION
• Before selecting courses students need to
consider:
– What they enjoy studying?
– What talents/interests they have?
– What careers they find interesting?
– What does the University expect? Are there any pre-
requisites?
– Have teachers/parents advised for/against attempting
some courses?
– Are they choosing for themselves, or following friends?

How to Read the Grid
• SELECT 1 COURSE FROM EACH ROW –
all students must select 6 courses
• University pathway students select 5 pink
courses and 1 blue/green
• Non University Pathway & VET select 6
blue/green courses
• Full course names are located on page 9
and 10 of the course handbook

Graduation Requirements 2014
• 20 WACE course units – or acceptable
alternatives
• At least one pair of units from both List A
(Humanities) and List B (Maths/Sciences) in Year
12
• Average of C grade or better in 16 units – at least
half from Year 12
• English language competence – complete 4 units
of English and achieve standard
• Sit for WACE exams – unless exempt
These requirements change for students
undertaking VET or Certificate courses

OPEN CAMPUS
• We are located on the grounds of Curtin
University
• We also have the use of Kingsbury Park
during breaks
• We are very public

TIMETABLE STRUCTURE
• Each subject has two single periods and
one double
• There are 6 periods each day
• When we have single periods there is a 5
minute gap to get to next class
• Mentor is on a rolling basis throughout the
semester
• There are no timetabled classes on
Wednesdays

WHAT HAPPENS ON
WEDNESDAYS
• Some students do Structured Workplace Learning
• Some students attend Curtin VTEC (TAFE)
• Some Wednesdays have seminars running –
these can be for academic purposes and life skills
• Some subjects will have homework classes on this
day
• Students may have to attend if they do not submit
work on time

WEDNESDAYS
• Dancing classes are held for Year 12’s
• Sports training may occur for Country Week
teams
• Students are able to use College facilities
for as little or long a time as they like

• General Studies Block – bulk of Maths,
English, S&E and Computing
• Science labs
• Industry standard workshops along with
demountable trades area
• Commercial kitchen
• Childcare house

Where to for Phys Ed? Students undertake the
practical part of PE at various sporting grounds in
the city
