CMS Data: What it Says and What You Should Do

Over the past few years, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have provided the general
public with increased transparency of information about business activities, which has created some unique,
new compliance opportunities and challenges. While just a speculation over the last year, we are now
hearing directly from enforcement agencies that this data is currently being used in active enforcement
actions, as well as for identification of new actions. The key theme is that companies need to know their data
better than anyone else and use the available data to identify issues before someone else does. Our panel
of chief compliance officers will discuss their perspectives on how CMS data is impacting their companies,
what they are doing to understand what the data says about company practices, and how they are using
this information to strengthen their compliance efforts. Panelists will also share their views on how this data
has impacted government investigation and their advice on what companies should be doing to prepare for
increased public scrutiny.
