Who was this man to you? What were his lessons? Who was he? How do you remember him?
From Hugh (PaPaw's) Funeral Service:
Mr. Sims lived a Christian life. He was a member of good standing of the Hepzibah Baptist Church. He loved and
served the Lord though his Church.
He served in many capacities in the Church. Among them: Sunday School Director, Teacher, Deacon and
concerned visitor for Christ and the Church. He was a member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class who
serve as honorary pallbearers today. Mr. Sims served as a Trustee and on the Executive Committee of the Coosa
River Baptist Association.
Mr. Sims was a family man. He loved his family and left some 40 heirs. The 40 roses on the casket represent each
member of his family.
He was a civic and community minded man. Lifelong resident of Talladega County, Alabama. He was concerned
about community, county, state and national affairs. Served as member of the Talladega County Cattlemen's
Association, Honorary Director of Talladega County Farm Bureau. A fifty year Mason and Retired Rural Letter
Carrier for the United States Post Office for 39 years.
Mr. Sims was interested in life and kept abreast of the times. He was able to discuss current events and knew what
was going on in the world. He had an optimistic outlook on life due to his Christian faith. He had a keen sense of
humor and was able to see the lighter side of things. When asked recently how he was doing his reply was, "Pretty
good for the shape I am in". He wrote a poem entitled, "On Day Before my 82nd Birthday".
One day before my birthday this is what I said:
