Birthday Parties!
Give your child a party to remember with Emerald City Theatre School! We will provide a creative and
fun experience for all guests as we use our imaginations to create fantastical characters, sing and dance
to popular songs, and even write our own stories together! The birthday child receives a special Emerald
City t-shirt decorated by the birthday guests! Come to us or we will come to you!
Party Locations and Prices
Both of party locations (our Theatre School on N. Southport and Theater Wit on Belmont) are perfect
for our theme-based theatre parties! Depending on which party location you choose and which is
available, there are different prices and add-ons from which to choose.
All Party Locations include the following:
1.5 hour themed party
Lead teaching artist and assistant teacher
Theatre activities for up to 35 guests depending on party location
(including birthday child)
Themed craft for each child to take home for 3.5-5 year old parties,
optional for 6-12 year old parties
T-shirt for birthday child
Cutlery, tables cloths, silverware, cups and napkins provided
Mini-performance for parents at the end of the party

Drop-offs are encouraged at this party location due to amount of space.

THEME: $75 for creating own theme
This custom theme option is at the discretion of the education department. While some special themes might be desirable,
not all work well with the theatre-workshop birthday parties Emerald City hosts. Our Education Coordinator will work with
you on creating your custom theme and provide experience-based advice on themes that are most successful. The theatre
workshop and mini-performance will include games and activities based on the custom theme. A theme-based craft, chosen by
the teaching artist, will also be provided by Emerald City (depending on age group). Emerald City does not guarantee specific
crafts or decorations for custom themes unless the birthday family provides them.
TIME (at Theatre School Location) $75 for additional ½ hour (may include
time for traditional birthday party games, story time, time to open birthday
presents/take group pictures, pinata)
FACE PAINTING: $100 (includes additional ½ hour. Only available at Theatre
School location.)

experience for those wanting a party in an actual theatre space on a stage!
Themed craft for each child to take home for 3.5-5 year old
parties, optional for 6-12 year old parties

Can accommodate a total of 35 children including birthday child (3
teachers required for 25-35 children)

THEME: $75 for creating own theme

Let Emerald City provide the entertainment in your own party space. Perfect for larger birthday parties where
you can bring a theatre workshop to you for a creative, adventurous party! Our professional teaching artists will
lead guests in a 45-minute theatre experience. Choose from our themes above or pick one of your own, we will
work with you to create a party to remember.

Party Themes for 3.5-5 year olds
Princess and Knight Boot Camp
Embark on a magical journey where dragons, princesses, and magical
beings live! Guests will create their own fantasy world, incorporating real
and magical creatures. Perfect for princess lovers who need training in
the field and for knights who want to save the day! Guests will create a
princess and knight themed craft and perform their proper royal etiquette in a miniperformance
for their royal subjects at the end of the birthday party.
Pirates and Mermaids
Ahoy Matey! This party is for the child who loves to explore the
swash-buckling characters above and below the high seas. Guests will
embark on a magical oceanic journey as they develop their very own
pirate and mermaid characters, solve treasure hunts, and meet
creatures under the sea. Guests will make a pirate/mermaid craft to
use in their final mini-performance. So walk the plank straight over to
Emerald City for a party you won’t forget!
Superheroes
If you could be a superhero, what special powers would you have? Let
your super powers come to life at this exciting birthday party. Perfect
for small people with heroic minds, we will be designing magic capes
that harbor special powers and help us rescue the audience from
villains! Show off your newly discovered powers in a mini-performance
at the end of the party and save the world!
Pinkalicious
Boys and girls will both enjoy this party! Come join Pinkalicious and
her brother Peter on their journey of turning totally pink! Guests will
read the book and explore how eating too many pink cupcakes might
be a bad idea. Then guests will create their own Pinkalicious tale to be
performed for parents in a final mini-performance.

Wild Things
Let the wild rumpus start! Join Max and all his wild friends as you travel
to a magical land where having a party happens every day! Guests will
read the book and create their own untamed craft to use in a final miniperformance
for parents. So get ready to roar your terrible roars,
gnash your terrible teeth, and roll your terrible eyes at the most
outrageous party of all!
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake
If you give a cat a cupcake, be careful or soon your whole birthday will
be filled with chasing that cat all over town! Guests will read the book
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake and create their very own craft to use in a
final mini-performance for parents. We’ll follow cat into a full-fledged
fiasco from the kitchen to the beach and back again. Be ready to have
a meow-velous birthday escapade!
New for Fall 2011 Only
Hocus Pocus Birthday Party
Celebrate your party in spooky style where monsters roam
freely, witches brew bubbling potions, and Halloween-y
adventures await you at every turn! Birthday guests will create a fall-themed craft and
develop a story to perform together from the eerie depths of the theatre. Children
could learn the dances and words to favorite tunes such as Thriller or the Monster Mash.
Everyone is invited to dress up in a costume. Hold onto your broomsticks as we zoom into
fall!

Party Themes for 6-12 year olds
Wizard of Oz
Follow the yellow brick road to our Wizard of Oz themed birthday
party where you and your friends will develop a mini play and/or musical
based on the scenes from the famous story and movie! Dance and sing
along to tunes such as "We're Off to See the Wizard," "One Short Day
(from Wicked)" and "Merry Old Land of Oz!" Gather your courage,
wits, and heart about you as you journey through Oz together with your guests, but
watch out for those lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!
Willy Wonka
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do, we've got a perfect birthday for you!
Use your "pure imagination" to go on a candy-filled journey with Charlie
and all his friends in this Willy Wonka themed birthday party. You and
your guests will get to travel inside the famous candy factory as you
develop a play and/or musical based on scenes from the deliciously
decadent book and movies. Dance and sing along to the tunes "The Candyman," "Pure
Imagination," and "I've Got a Golden Ticket," but make sure to keep hold of your
everlasting gobstopper and watch out for Slugworth!
Glee
Don’t Stop Believing that your birthday party could be one of the most
fun parties in Chicago! Guests will sing and learn dance moves to songs
featured on the hit show, Glee, such as Don’t Stop Believin’, Lean on Me,
or Thriller. For a complete listing of possible songs, please contact our
office. Guests will perform for parents in a final rock star showing as
the finale to the party.

Fairytale Musicals
Bippity Boppity Boo! Does your child love enchanting musicals like Into
The Woods, Wicked, and Cinderella? During this imaginative birthday
party, guests will travel through the magical world of musical theatre
and fairytales as they share stories, meet witches and wolves, and
perform their adventure for an audience of parents and friends at the
end of the party.
Jukebox Musicals
Jukebox musicals are all the rage! This swinging musical theatre
birthday party will get guests jumpin’ and jivin’ to songs, choreography,
and scenes from shows like Mamma Mia!, Grease, and Hairspray.
Guests will rock this town as they practice and perform their moves for
cool cats at the end of the birthday celebration!
Improv Party
Freeze! Get ready to let the laughs and good times roll out at this
unique improv-themed birthday party. Guests will get an opportunity
to create characters, use costumes and props, and play improv games
as an ensemble of actors. Everyone will perform in a few of their
favorite games for audience members at the end of the party.
