The “Summer Crush Games”<br />

are a CrossFit competition<br />

open to athletes worldwide,<br />

an event that tests fitness and<br />

capacity.<br />

The Games are designed to unite and<br />

challenge fitness enthusiasts. Our goal is to<br />

provide an avenue for these athletes to display<br />

their skills. Competitions are an essential<br />

source of motivation and acknowledgement,<br />

creating a stage to share the results of hard<br />

work with peers, family and friends.<br />

Events supporting the rapidly growing CrossFit<br />

community in America are in demand, and we<br />

have a clear perspective of what the fitness<br />

community desires in a competition.


ABOUT THE GAMES<br />

The Sport of Fitness<br />

Endurance, Stamina, Strength,<br />

Flexibility, Coordination, Agility,<br />

Balance, Accuracy, Power, Speed<br />

Using the CrossFit methodology fitness is<br />

defined as increased work capacity across<br />

broad time and modal domains. Athletes are<br />

challenged to rigorous training and consistent<br />

practice in order to increase their capacity to do<br />

real work over time.<br />

Training yields endurance, stamina, strength<br />

and flexibility. By contrast, improvements in<br />

coordination, agility, balance and accuracy are<br />

obtained through practice. Power and speed<br />

are adaptations of both.<br />

Olympic weight lifting tests athletes’ strength,<br />

speed, power and flexibility. The clean, jerk and<br />

the snatch, develop and improve coordination,<br />

agility, accuracy and balance. These lifts are as<br />

CrossFit workouts (WODS) are composed of a<br />

broad range of functional movements, such as<br />

gymnastics, Olympic and power lifts. These are<br />

the core movements of life, found everywhere<br />

and built naturally into our DNA. They move the<br />

largest loads the longest distances quickly and<br />

effectively. These movements form the basis of<br />

our exercise program.<br />

Only by testing all of these skills can we truly<br />

find who is “fit.”<br />

Through gymnastics we develop extraordinary<br />

strength along with upper body and trunk<br />

flexibility. Callisthenic movements such as pullups,<br />

push-ups, dips and rope climbing, develop

Who hosts Summer<br />

Crush Games?<br />

The “Summer Crush Games” event is operated<br />

by the “I Am CrossFit” family. With five locations<br />

in Miami, we are proud to be the largest CrossFit<br />

family in the world. The average CrossFit box<br />

holds 200 members. Our close-knit family<br />

consists of 2,100 members and counting. We<br />

are the leaders in the Southeast CrossFit<br />

community.<br />

Greg Glassman, founder and CEO of CrossFit<br />

Inc., regards us among the “Top 5 Affiliates” in<br />

the world. What an honor! We take pride in<br />

what we do and take nothing lightly…it shows.<br />

ABOUT THE GAMES<br />

We Made It Larger…<br />

In Every Aspect<br />

Due to the success of last year’s<br />

event we felt obligated to push the<br />

boundaries in 2012.<br />

The 2012 Summer Crush Games will create<br />

more opportunities (and rewards) for athletes<br />

and their supporters.<br />

Our mission is to provide an event that will<br />

recreate the environment and grandeur of the<br />

official CrossFit Games. Crossfitters, regardless<br />

of their fitness capacity, should feel the rush<br />

of WODing in a major competition. With nearly<br />

500 registration slots available and two days of<br />

events, this year’s games are twice the size.<br />

We have also added a twist to the team<br />

competition in order to add an element of box<br />

pride, not seen up until now. Teams register<br />

under the CrossFit box where they train. Once<br />

scores are tallied, we will combine scores for<br />

men and women training at the same box, and<br />

name the Summer Crush Games’ “FITTEST<br />

BOX.”<br />

5,000 SPECTATORS EXPECTED<br />

The Games will include live entertainment<br />

by popular, local bands and DJs. A centrally<br />

located stage placed at the heart of the event<br />

brings athletes and spectators together.<br />

Over a ½ dozen well-known Miami food trucks<br />

fuel the day. Families and young children enjoy<br />

the bounce houses, rides and games in the “Fun<br />

Zone.” Four-hundred fifty six athletes vie for the<br />

“Top” title in their respective divisions.

EVENT DETAILS:<br />

SCG will provide that stage for the scaled<br />

athletes on Saturday. The grand finale event<br />

will have all eyes focused on them. By Saturday<br />

night, we will crown a top male and female<br />

scaled.<br />

Rx will begin their weekend Saturday afternoon<br />

with the SCG Total, a test of strength, power<br />

and speed. These amazing athletes will need<br />

to put up big numbers if they plan on staying<br />

in the forefront going into Sunday. Sunday will<br />

showcase the RX athletes in fast, fun, yet brutal<br />

workouts. Sunday afternoon we name the top<br />

male and female athletes.<br />

The Teams Division format will be new in<br />

2012, dividing the teams into male and female<br />

divisions. 36 male and 36 female teams will<br />

compete in their same gender division to find<br />

the top three athletes. Top Male team and top<br />

Female team will be announced by the end of<br />

the day on Sunday.
