<strong>Paul</strong> <strong>Merson</strong> to give keynote at Premier Sports Network event<br />
LONDON (October 5 th , 2015) – The Premier Sports Network is thrilled to announce that former England<br />
footballer <strong>Paul</strong> <strong>Merson</strong> will give a keynote speech at its Player Management event, on November 20 at The<br />
Hospital Club in Central London.<br />
<strong>Merson</strong>, who is now a TV pundit for Sky Sports, is one of the standout English football talents of the last 20<br />
years, boasting 21 caps and three goals for England. During his 20-year professional career he played at<br />
club level for Arsenal, Aston Villa and Portsmouth and also spent a period in management with Walsall.<br />
The Premier Sports Network: Player Management will bring together leading names from across the<br />
spectrum of player management to discuss the challenges that face players, and their advisors, in a career<br />
journey starting at youth-level and spanning to retirement.<br />
In the keynote, <strong>Merson</strong> will discuss his journey from youth player to media personality, how he overcame<br />
off-the-pitch challenges and what the network of people working with professional sportsmen and women<br />
today can learn from his experiences.<br />
“Having someone of <strong>Paul</strong>’s calibre and life experiences in and around the world of football is a real boon for<br />
the event. Our delegates will gain a huge amount of insight from his perspective on the challenges that face<br />
professional sportsmen and women, and how he has forged a successful career in the media postretirement,”<br />
said Spencer Hidge, Executive Director at the Premier Sports Network.<br />
In addition to <strong>Merson</strong>, confirmed speakers include Ray Haughan (Team Administration Manager,<br />
Liverpool), Curtis Hughes (First Team Player Liaison Officer, Stoke City), Haydn Roberts (Head of Player<br />
Care, Manchester City), Martyn Heather (Head of Education, English Premier League) and Simon Sinclair<br />
(Elite Player Development Manager, Eastern Region, Northampton Saints).<br />
Representatives from all 20 English Premier League clubs have been confirmed as attendees, in addition<br />
to leading sports agents and organisations including the League Managers Association and Kick It Out.<br />
