Culture, Wine and Tuscany
Work at the Icario winery is based on three fundamental components:
culture, wine and Tuscany.
Culture is the keystone, the origin and justification of the winery's mission:
Andrea and Alessandra Cecchetti's commitment to the ongoing quest
for perfection is reflected in the range and production of stylish,
characterful wines representing a coherent balance of terroir, tradition,
research and innovation.
Icario wine is the result of obsessive attention to the land, and therefore
the vines, and in the cellar.
A constant commitment through research, knowledge and passion poured
into the Cecchetti family's 6,000 vines per hectare on the Podere Fucile
estate makes fine quality, very stylish wine worthy of its terroir of origin
in full respect of the best traditions.

Tuscany, the land that gave birth and life to the Icario project:
an area both beautiful and challenging, "terra grossa" as it is known
around Montepulciano.
A land to be indulged but also tamed.

Innovation and tradition: the ICARIO winery
The Icario winery was designed according to the most advanced
technological precepts currently available, based on principles
of functionality, innovation and perfectly natural blending with
the extraordinary surrounding environment among the green hills
of Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia.
The architectural style makes a strong impact, thanks to the use
of hand-broken Sienese stone for the exterior and the use
of a geometrical network of steel beams and glass surfaces in the design
of the interior space.

The highly technological fermentation process is counterbalanced
by traditional ageing in oak. This all takes place in distinctive areas designed
to accommodate the wine's various production phases and guarantee
a high standard of excellence from the arrival of the grapes, placed high up
outside, through to bottle ageing which is carried out in the underground
area of the building.
Technological and traditional materials exist side by side making this
a modern building that is also strongly rooted in the local traditional
architectural style.

The Icario Arte cultural project
Andrea and Alessandra Cecchetti
have designated part of the winery for cultural exhibitions
open to the public and offering a programme
focusing principally on Contemporary Art.
The Cultural Project organises two important exhibitions per year
- one individual and one collective.
Exhibitions by leading national and international contemporary artists
will be held in succession at the Icario winery,
in order to involve a wide and varied section of the public
including art enthusiasts and thus promote
the whole Montepulciano area.

Vitaroccia - Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G.
Icario's leading wine, produced in
the estate's youngest vineyards planted
by the Cecchetti family themselves.
This is the origin of Vitaroccia,
a highly prestigious wine made
in limited quantities and only
in the best quality vintage years.
Scrupulous manual selection
of the grapes grown in the Podere
Fucile estate, and ageing in small
French oak barrels give this wine
its lingering, harmonious qualities
and enable it to achieve excellent
balance after a long ageing period
in the bottles.
This reflects our ongoing research
into the quality of Vino Nobile which
focuses on one leading feature, aside
from excellent flavour:
outstanding elegance.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G.
A wine able to inject energy
and drive into the classic Tuscan
excellence that made Vino Nobile's
name famous.
In conformity with the winemaking
tradition of the Montepulciano area,
the grapes are always fermented gently
to obtain soft, elegant tannins
while preserving the full body typical
of the best Sangiovese.
After 18 months' ageing in small oak
barrels and barriques,
Vino Nobile Icario spends another
to achieve full maturity before release.
This noble wine reaches our tables
clothed in ruby red, well-structured
and confident with spicy aromas
Rosso ICARIO I.G.T. Toscana
Rosso Icario is a skilled
and never commonplace teacher.
It educates our palate, opening
the door to the Icario universe
and the philosophy of wines with
more considerable structure.
Obtained from Sangiovese, Merlot and
Teroldego grapes, it undergoes
a short fermentation which enhances
the fresh cherry and raspberry aromas
with studied complexity
thanks to around 6 months ageing
in oak barrels.
The product is youthful, yielding
generous aromas and sensations
every day, transforming the ritual
of a good meal into a continual
discovery.

Nysa - I.G.T. Toscana Bianco
Icario has tenaciously stepped up
to the challenge of pursuing quality
in a great white wine,
designed and produced with the same
scrupulous and constant care
the winery devotes to its red wines.
Thus in the extraordinary combination
of Montepulciano's microclimate
and terroir the Cecchetti family
has brought to life Nysa,
a white wine that combines
the elegance and softness
of Pinot Grigio grapes with
the structure and aromatic qualities
of Gewürztraminer.
Fermented and aged for six months
in 500 litre French oak tonneaux,
this great wine is the fruit of our
ongoing research into quality,
and the desire to pursue progress
ignoring prejudice.
