Intention<br />

Through depthmap <strong>analysis</strong> <strong>and</strong> comparison of different competition proposals, this documentation<br />

tries to show the potential of the <strong>analysis</strong> method for large scale architectural<br />

competitions.<br />

Competition Hunzikerareal<br />

In 2007 the “Genossenschaften” (cooperative hous<strong>in</strong>g enterprises) of Zurich celebrated<br />

their 100 year anniversary.<br />

They decided to launch a project where they wanted to f<strong>in</strong>d new ways of contemporary<br />

liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> realize a hous<strong>in</strong>g project that is a contemporary prototype for residential architecture<br />

<strong>and</strong> susta<strong>in</strong>able liv<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

In 2008/2009 a competition was held where the participants had to present an <strong>urban</strong> plan<br />

of the whole site as well as one build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> detail where they presented their idea of contemporary<br />

liv<strong>in</strong>g. The analysed proposals are entries of this competition.<br />
