The crowd at X278 BF Paranaque was
restless as bands began to set up, last
July 3rd--Riot Down South was something
of a rare treat in the south of
Metro Manila: a high-energy, highprofile
line up on a Friday night. Put
together by Black Sheep Entertainment,
this wasn't going to be an EDM rave
with regurgitated songs set to a drum
machine: this was a rock show.
The gig did not disappoint. Opening with the
explosive, punk-influenced, dance-driven
The Riot Act, the night started off in a
frenzy. Followed by the melodic, visceral
styling’s of Typecast, and the rockabilly
meets punk tunes of Hilera, everyone was
suddenly in a mood to get their groove on.
Heads nodding, bodies swaying, the entire
place was alive with the spirit of rock and
roll. The night ended with the crowd singing
along to an intense set by Chicosci, lighting
the entire place on fire as people raised their
hands, singing along. We came for a riot,
we got one.
