FLUTE, JAZZ AND BRASS
Study for an MBA in the WTC
Is there really a university in the WTC? Yes,
there is. Webster University, the only accredited
American university in the Netherlands, has an
Amsterdam annex where you can study for an
MBA or other Master’s programme part time,
while forging ahead with your business career.
On October 10, Webster is holding an open day
This autumn’s lunchtime concerts offer something
for everyone. On October 9, the sound of
Emma Zoe Elkinson‘s flute will fill the central hall
accompanied by the rich sounds of viola, violin
and cello. Emma is Irish and a passionate and poetic
flute virtuoso who is at home both in classical
performance and Irish traditional music.
On November 3, swinging jazz will be centre
stage, featuring Nataly Masclé on vocals, Jean-
Louis van Damme on keyboards and Eric Timmerman
on bass. The trio have performed together
for years and produce a smooth, flexible
and intimate sound.
The traditional December concert takes place on
December 10 and will create a suitably festive atmosphere
with a brass quartet, led by Erwin ter
Bogt. The music will be a medley of old music,
jazz, pop and, of course, some Christmas tunes as
well. For more information:
for prospective students at its Leiden campus –
just 30 minutes door-to-door from the WTC via
station Zuid. ‘Our classes are small, you really get
to know your teachers and it is a great way to
build up an international network,’ says spokeswoman
Joijcelyn Hoost. Classes take place in the
WTC one or two evenings a week.
BIG DATA
IS COMING
TO YOU
Everyone is talking about it but what actually
is Big Data, how can you use it and what does
it mean for your company? The WTC Amsterdam
Business Club is organising a special
event on November 10 to bring members up
to speed on the implications and opportunities
offered by Big Data. A panel of four keynote
speakers – who are still being finalised -
will be on hand to expand on their views and
answer questions. The session will end with
networking drinks, where you can meet the
panellists face to face.
Make a note in your diaries too about the
Business Club’s New Year drinks party on
January 27. Dutch central bank chairman
Klaas Knot is giving the keynote speech
about key issues facing the Dutch economy.
