WHAT’S MISSING? ARE YOU BEING SERVED? The WTC has a wide range of services to make life that little bit easier when you are working long hours. We asked WTC workers if there were any facilities they felt were missing. PEPIJN GROEN, GYS HOUGH & WOUTER VAN SCHAIK INNOPAY WOUTER ‘I would say a PostNL pick up point for parcel deliveries.’ GYS ‘I think these boys covered the basics. I stand with Pepijn on this one, bar wise. I’m not into parcels that much.’ PEPIJN ‘A decent bar. If I look around I don’t see any place I would go for a drink. That is a problem; we need that. We go to the Blauwe Engel because it’s the only bar to go to, but there’s not really much choice.’ DAYENNE LO-A-NYE LUSTROUS LAW ‘I’d like to see a pharmacy and maybe a few more shops with accessories for women, or perhaps a gift shop. We have Sissy Boy near the station, but I don’t really like their clothes.’ ACHMED IBRAHIM & JOHAN GYLLENSWARD ERIKSSON ACHMED: ‘A delivery point. It’s always a problem for us to get anything into the building. We have to go to this loading bay. It’s always an issue for any big deliveries.’ JOHAN: ‘Maybe more variety in terms of the restaurants. The choice is pretty limited.’ 6 WTC TODAY - AUTUMN 2015
VOX POPULI PHILLIP GENTIS & GERT WOLF MEAD JOHNSON NUTRITION PHILLIP: ‘I think it’s quite complete already.’ GERT: ‘ A pick up point for groceries. For after hours.’ MITZY HEMME COGNIZANT ‘It seems pretty complete. I saw a dry cleaners, a cobblers, a coffee bar. I saw a gym, a 20 minute work-out with personal training, that’s pretty cool. It’s a rich environment.’ MONIQUE MEIJER BANK OF NEW YORK MELLON ‘Maybe a post office. It’s always easier to have one in the neighbourhood. Perhaps they could combine it with a tobacconist, like AKO.’ [Editor’s note: PostNL closed the WTC post office last year.] SASZA BRYZA & JORIS DE WIT INTERNS AT MICHAEL PAGE SASZA: ‘I think for professional people it would be really good to have a gym or a fitness room, to do something after work to relax.’ JORIS: ‘I’ve been walking around and I’m already a little bit baffled by how many things they have here. Maybe when I’ve been here a long time I would love to have a tropical swimming pool for after work or something! But for now, everything is fine.’ WTC TODAY - AUTUMN 2015 7
