Shop For Our Schools

The Summit Store will host Shop for Our
Schools on Friday, October 30, to benefit
the Loma Public Education Fund.
The Summit Store hosts two such fundraisers
each year, donating ten percent of
sales to the LPEF. This fund-raising event
is the final Friday of October and timed
with the start of the holiday season, the
day before Halloween, and a minimum day
(12:30 p.m. release) at Loma Prieta and
C.T. English schools.
“The Summit Store always supports
our fund-raising efforts on behalf of the
schools,” said Joni Thomas, LPEF president.
“This is a chance for our community to
support the store and the schools at the
same time.”
Expect Halloween treats and the culinary
delights that characterize the Summit Store’s
fall menus, counters, and aisles. Enjoy trickor-treat
supplies, a bounce house, and the
usual seasonal surprises.
“The schools are the foundation of our
community,” said Summit Store spokesman
Ben Abeln, who also serves as an LPEF
board member. “We host this event because
there isn’t anyone more deserving than our
students, school parents, and teachers.”
Los Gatos Community Concert
The Choral Project

The second concert of the Los Gatos
Community Concert Association’s 2015-
2016 season will be on Sunday, October 25.
The 56 performers are members in an
outstanding mixed-voice choir called The
Choral Project, founded and directed
by Daniel Hughes. The ensemble has
established a reputation for performing
choral literature that connects the text,
music, singer, and audience. The San Jose
Mercury News has called The Choral Project
“a Bay Area jewel.”
The performance will be at the Los Gatos
High School Theatre. The doors open at
2 p.m. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m.

Plein-Air Exhibit

A plein-air exhibit runs through October
31 at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting
Company. After 35 years of running an
architectural firm, Los Gatos resident Rick
Guidice is exploring the fine-art world of
plein-air painting. The paintings in this
exhibit represent his participation with the
Los Gatos Art Association’s plein-air group
that meets weekly. Four of the paintings
were painted at the North Lake Tahoe pleinair
competition, where he was awarded first
prize in the quick-draw competition.
Rick Guidice’s award-winning plein-art
paintings are on display at the Los Gatos Coffee
Roasting Company.
Halloween Fun on the Summit
Looking for some spooky fun on the
mountain this Halloween season?
Visit the Spooky Barn (if you dare),
and enjoy face-painting, pony rides,
and tours of the stables at Family Fall
Fun day at Bear Creek Stables, Saturday,
October 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Saturday, October 24, from noon
to 4 p.m., don’t miss the Loma Prieta
Boo Bash at the Gazebo on the Loma
Prieta Playfield, across from the school
on Summit Road. enjoy games, food,
prizes, and more.
Redwood Estates Services Association
hosts its annual adult Halloween dance
on October 24, starting at 8 p.m. at the
Redwood Estates Pavillion. This event
features live music by the Loma Prieta
Rockers, refreshments, and a spooky
good time.
Dress up your furry friends and bring
them to the Summit Veterinary Hospital
between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., October
26 to 30, for a free picture and to enter
the Halloween costume contest. Winners
will be notified on October 31.
