School’s outstanding year of sport<br />
LYMM's veteran hockey<br />
international, Sarah Impey, is a<br />
European Champion!<br />
She was a member of the<br />
England Over 45s team which<br />
gained a gold medal at the<br />
European championships in<br />
Essex in August.<br />
It was the highspot of a<br />
successful season for Sarah,<br />
who was also in the England<br />
team which won the Home<br />
Nations <strong>co</strong>mpetition in June.<br />
Sarah now moves up to the<br />
Over 50s age group and travels<br />
to Jersey with the England team<br />
in October and then hopes to<br />
take part in the Masters World<br />
Cup in Australia next March.<br />
She paid tribute to fitness<br />
trainer James Hewitt for "getting<br />
me into shape" for the events.<br />
STAFF, pupils and parents at Oughtrington<br />
Primary School are celebrating an outstanding<br />
year of sport.<br />
The girls Year 6 cross <strong>co</strong>untry team won every event<br />
and were crowned “Team of the Year” at the Warrington<br />
School Sports Partnership Awards.<br />
The football, rugby, hockey and athletics teams all<br />
reached the <strong>co</strong>unty finals.<br />
The Quad Kids, the Year 4 golfers won their events<br />
at the “Road to Rio” and the archers were awarded<br />
the bronze. Year 4 footballers s<strong>co</strong>red 29 goals, not<br />
<strong>co</strong>nceding a goal until the semi-finals at the “Road to<br />
Rio”.<br />
The rugby 7’s team reached the quarter finals<br />
narrowly missing out on the semis. The Year 4 rugby<br />
team won every match at Warrington Wolves tag rugby<br />
festival.<br />
Year 2 gymnastics were awarded bronze medals in a<br />
Key Stage 1 <strong>co</strong>mpetition at Orford Hub.<br />
The lacrosse team won the first-ever Warrington<br />
lacrosse tournament, winning every game.<br />
The boys’ cricket team won the Lymm Cluster<br />
<strong>co</strong>mpetition and the girls came se<strong>co</strong>nd.<br />
Year 3 girls runners came first and the boys were<br />
se<strong>co</strong>nd at Bradshaw Primary.<br />
A spokesperson for the school said: “As a school<br />
awarded the Gold Kite Mark this academic year, this<br />
award truly reflects the hard work, dedication and<br />
passion of all our staff who have <strong>co</strong>ntributed to ensuring<br />
that our children’s experiences are at the highest<br />
possible level.”
