Sarah’s a
European
champion!

School’s outstanding year of sport
LYMM's veteran hockey
international, Sarah Impey, is a
European Champion!
She was a member of the
England Over 45s team which
gained a gold medal at the
European championships in
Essex in August.
It was the highspot of a
successful season for Sarah,
who was also in the England
team which won the Home
Nations competition in June.
Sarah now moves up to the
Over 50s age group and travels
to Jersey with the England team
in October and then hopes to
take part in the Masters World
Cup in Australia next March.
She paid tribute to fitness
trainer James Hewitt for "getting
me into shape" for the events.
STAFF, pupils and parents at Oughtrington
Primary School are celebrating an outstanding
year of sport.
The girls Year 6 cross country team won every event
and were crowned “Team of the Year” at the Warrington
School Sports Partnership Awards.
The football, rugby, hockey and athletics teams all
reached the county finals.
The Quad Kids, the Year 4 golfers won their events
at the “Road to Rio” and the archers were awarded
the bronze. Year 4 footballers scored 29 goals, not
conceding a goal until the semi-finals at the “Road to
Rio”.
The rugby 7’s team reached the quarter finals
narrowly missing out on the semis. The Year 4 rugby
team won every match at Warrington Wolves tag rugby
festival.
Year 2 gymnastics were awarded bronze medals in a
Key Stage 1 competition at Orford Hub.
The lacrosse team won the first-ever Warrington
lacrosse tournament, winning every game.
The boys’ cricket team won the Lymm Cluster
competition and the girls came second.
Year 3 girls runners came first and the boys were
second at Bradshaw Primary.
A spokesperson for the school said: “As a school
awarded the Gold Kite Mark this academic year, this
award truly reflects the hard work, dedication and
passion of all our staff who have contributed to ensuring
that our children’s experiences are at the highest
possible level.”
