Albert Markes was a marine watercolourist who lived in Cornwall before
coming to London. He painted scenes on the east coast of England, as well
as working in Belgium and Holland.

Appian Way, outside Rome, with the silhouette of St. Peter’s in the distance.
Charles Potter was a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester,
who lived in Oldham and Tallybont, Conwy, and exhibited at the Royal
Academy and elsewhere from 1867 to 1892.
