It was at that time also clear that <strong>Concerta</strong> actually caused aggression, depression <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> tics.<br />

To quote from <strong>the</strong> <strong>MHRA</strong> assessment:<br />

“A causal relationship with <strong>Concerta</strong> was established for aggression, tics <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong><br />

depression.”<br />

I think you agree with me that <strong>the</strong> table over adverse events presented by J<strong>an</strong>ssen in J<strong>an</strong>uary<br />

2011, on <strong>the</strong> request of <strong>MHRA</strong>, was very clear (see my earlier letter) <strong>–</strong> <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> alarming. Here<br />

we have <strong>the</strong> <strong>an</strong>swer from J<strong>an</strong>ssen (with <strong>the</strong> table on page 84) <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> a summary of <strong>the</strong> adverse<br />

events reported in J<strong>an</strong>ssen’s own studies of <strong>Concerta</strong> for adults:<br />

Response Document from J<strong>an</strong>ssen (Johnson & Johnson) from J<strong>an</strong>uary 2011<br />

http://j<strong>an</strong>nel.se/<strong>Concerta</strong>.J<strong>an</strong>ssen.Response.11.01.2011.pdf<br />

I don’t think, Mr Hudson that you actually have read this document, forming <strong>the</strong> agreement<br />

between <strong>MHRA</strong> <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> J<strong>an</strong>ssen about such vital issues as <strong>the</strong> need for information about what<br />

emerged in J<strong>an</strong>ssen’s studies of <strong>Concerta</strong> on adults. If you had, it would be hard to state, as<br />

you do in your <strong>an</strong>swer below, that adults are being fully informed about <strong>the</strong> risks identified<br />

in J<strong>an</strong>ssen’s studies.<br />

Probably this is <strong>the</strong> first time that J<strong>an</strong>ssen’s “Response Document” is made fully known to<br />

<strong>the</strong> media, politici<strong>an</strong>s <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> <strong>the</strong> public in general. Everyone c<strong>an</strong> now verify that J<strong>an</strong>ssen, in <strong>the</strong><br />

“Response Document” 29 times (!!) repeats a version of <strong>the</strong> statement: “The Comp<strong>an</strong>y no<br />

longer seeks <strong>an</strong> extension of <strong>the</strong> indication to include adults with <strong>ADHD</strong>.” And: “The<br />

Comp<strong>an</strong>y <strong>the</strong>refore considers that no fur<strong>the</strong>r action is necessary.”<br />

I would advise you, Mr Hudson, before <strong>an</strong>swering this letter, to actually take a look at<br />

J<strong>an</strong>ssen’s document. In it you will <strong>–</strong> at <strong>the</strong>se 29 points <strong>–</strong> see what <strong>MHRA</strong> <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> J<strong>an</strong>ssen actually<br />

agreed to. After that you c<strong>an</strong>not <strong>an</strong>y longer state that adults receiving <strong>Concerta</strong> are being<br />

informed about what you <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> J<strong>an</strong>ssen know.<br />

Do you actually think Mr Hudson that psychiatrists say <strong>the</strong> following to <strong>the</strong>ir adult patients?<br />

“I will prescribe <strong>Concerta</strong> to you. However you should know that <strong>Concerta</strong> in <strong>the</strong><br />

Comp<strong>an</strong>y’s best studies had no positive effects after 5 weeks, while causing quite<br />

some serious harmful ones. Like aggression, depression, <strong>an</strong>xiety, psychosis, heart<br />

disorder. Just so you underst<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>: They have proven that you very likely will not get<br />

<strong>an</strong>ything positive out of <strong>Concerta</strong> after 5 weeks, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> that everything after that point<br />

is on <strong>the</strong> minus side. And all this comes from <strong>an</strong> extensive investigation led by<br />

<strong>MHRA</strong>.”<br />

Of course that would be impossible as <strong>MHRA</strong> has not communicated <strong>the</strong> results of <strong>the</strong><br />

investigation in <strong>an</strong>y official publication reaching doctors <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> <strong>the</strong> public.<br />

No, what doctors <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> patients are being told is <strong>an</strong>o<strong>the</strong>r message <strong>–</strong> a false, misleading <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong><br />

deceitful message from psychiatrists sponsored by J<strong>an</strong>ssen <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r pharmaceutical<br />

comp<strong>an</strong>ies.
