The competition is open to all school students of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh,

Karnataka & Tamilnadu from 7 -12 standard in two Categories (Category I: 7 to
th th th
9 Class and Category II: 10 to 12 Class). The projects may be related to any
branch of Science and should be submitted in English.

The Winners in each Category shall get cash awards (the winning project to get
Rs10,000/=, first runners-up get Rs. 7500/= and the second runners-up get
Rs. 5000/=), Certificate of Award and Dr. K. V. Rao Science Awards at the
annual function.
Cash awards of Rs.1000/= shall be given to some inventions / models as
suggested by the panel of judges .
All entries selected for the final competition shall be given participation
certificates.
In case of promising entry: Sponsorship to develop potential idea by way of
help in developing prototype, registering patent in name of inventor, help in
getting government / institutional assistance etc. shall be provided.
Affidavit of originality of idea - that the proposal is not a copy. Should be filled
and sent along with the application.
Eligibility
The students applying for the competition

Should be from classes 7 to 12 (Category I: 7 to 9 & Category II: 10 to 12 ).
A team may consist of maximum four members only and from the same school.
Students from different schools are not eligible to form a team.
The participating student / team cannot take the help of a teacher / parent.

Evaluation Procedure

Preliminary Screening:
The student(s) shall submit an abstract of about 1000 words (in triplicate), in

English by 30 November, 2015.
The write up should mention
(I)

How the invention / idea works.
(ii) What improvements were made.
(iii) The application/s of the invention / idea.
(iv) Circumstances that led to the idea.
The abstract should be signed by all the students of the team and attested by the
School Principal with school seal.
A panel of Judges shall recommend the projects for final competition.
Final Selection
Only those Inventions / models / projects qualified in the preliminary round

will be intimated by 15 December, 2015.

Final Presentation shall be held on 9 January, 2016 at Hyderabad.
Full report of the project to be presented, along with Bibliography should be
submitted at the venue.
A Panel of judges shall recommend the projects for awards based on:
·Innovation, Creativity and Quality
·Utility and potential for productive use
·Prototypes / models and demonstrations (Making of expensive prototypes are
not necessary – in fact, discouraged; proof of concept sufficient).
·Relevance and Benefit to the Society
·Presentations and understanding of scientific principles governing the
model / idea
Important Note:
The decision of the panel of Judges is final and binding in recommending
the projects for the Awards.
All the team members should fill the registration form separately.
Two students (along with an adult escort) of all out-station teams selected for final
project presentation shall be paid to and fro second class travel fare.
