The ViBE EM4000 premium HD/SD encoder leverages<br />

<strong>Thomson</strong> <strong>Video</strong> <strong>Networks</strong>’ Mustang 2.0 compression<br />

technology to deliver a step up in efficiency for broadcasters<br />

seeking to deploy more HD <strong>and</strong> SD channels within b<strong>and</strong>width<br />

limits.<br />

The ViBE EM1000/2000 encoders represent the benchmark<br />

for SD encoding, making them ideal for satellite <strong>and</strong> terrestrial<br />

broadcast applications <strong>and</strong> other content aggregation types.<br />

The ViBE 4K is a real-time encoding solution for ultra-high<br />

definition (UHD) broadcasting. With 1-RU chassis, the ViBE 4K<br />

complements the Ultra HD portfolio, <strong>and</strong> is the industry’s most<br />

compact live 4K encoder.<br />

The ViBE XT1000 is a high-density transcoder for live<br />

applications, suitable for DTH, DTTV, IPTV, <strong>and</strong> cable services<br />

as well as Web TV <strong>and</strong> OTT service delivery.<br />

The first premium encoder to offer a density of eight HD<br />

MPEG-4 AVC channels in a 1-RU chassis, the ViBE EM4000<br />

now includes SD MPEG-2 to HD MPEG-4 switching features,<br />

making it ideal for a wide range of broadcast operations<br />

including satellite, terrestrial, cable, <strong>and</strong> IP television. Not only<br />

does the ViBE EM4000 save rack space <strong>and</strong> power (consuming<br />

less than 65W per video channel), it also allows greater<br />

flexibility in 8+8 channel architectures by enabling operators to<br />

change the configuration of a full transponder instantly.<br />

For SD encoding, the ViBE EM1000/2000 encoders combine<br />

compression efficiency features <strong>and</strong> the latest preprocessing<br />

techniques to deliver clearer pictures with increased depth <strong>and</strong><br />

clarity, giving customers a premium viewing experience.<br />

The ViBE EM series now includes automatic loudness control<br />

to comply with international st<strong>and</strong>ards as well as the U.S. CALM<br />

Act, ITU-1770, <strong>and</strong> EBU-R128. ViBE EM1000/2000 encoders<br />

also support built-in teletext-to-DVB subtitling capabilities.<br />

The ViBE 4K extends high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) to<br />

provide an optimal video experience to consumers through live<br />

compression of UHD sources at up to 60 frames per second,<br />

<strong>and</strong> in 10-bit color.<br />

The addition of HDR support for live content to the ViBE<br />

4K marks another industry first — an encoding solution that<br />

enables broadcasters to address both HDR decoders <strong>and</strong><br />

non-HDR-compliant deployments in a single stream, with<br />

minimal overhead for the HDR information carried in the signal.<br />

Through “pay as you grow” licensing, the ViBE XT1000 is ideal<br />

for rapid channel lineup expansion <strong>and</strong> for generating new<br />

OTT/multiscreen revenues.<br />

The ViBE XT1000 receives compressed TV signals over IP<br />

<strong>and</strong> transcodes video <strong>and</strong> audio from any-to-any formats<br />

(MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC, SD/HD, CBR/VBR statmux/ABR).<br />

Based on a high-availability, modular 2-RU chassis, the ViBE<br />

XT1000 supports up to 54 HD channels or 180 SD channels.<br />

Leveraging Mediaflex OS video operating system, the ViBE XT1000<br />

Flextream statistical multiplexing technology automatically<br />

controls <strong>Thomson</strong> <strong>Video</strong> <strong>Networks</strong>’ ViBE MPEG-2/4 SD or HD<br />

encoders by dynamically allocating video bitrates according<br />

to quality targets <strong>and</strong> service priorities. This ensures optimum<br />

b<strong>and</strong>width utilization <strong>and</strong> improves the resulting video quality –<br />

a constant requirement for direct-to-home satellite, terrestrial,<br />

or cable networks.<br />

With version 2.0, Flextream extends this technology to<br />

intermittent data streams. Instead of reserving a fixed amount<br />

of b<strong>and</strong>width within the multiplex for intermittent streams,<br />

Flextream dynamically adapts the video pool bitrate based<br />

delivered over ASI <strong>and</strong> telecom interfaces. NetProcessor is also<br />

<strong>and</strong> H.264-compressed content, Sapphire provides all the functions needed to ingest, process, <strong>and</strong> play back recorded video seamlessly.<br />

The Sapphire MPEG stream server is used for media archival, TV-on-dem<strong>and</strong> captures, <strong>and</strong> time-shifting applications, as well as for<br />

MPEG Scan is a media file monitor. Dedicated to QoS control<br />

tasks for video-on-dem<strong>and</strong>, broadcast monitoring, or digital<br />

cinema, it performs advanced conformity <strong>and</strong> quality verification<br />

of media files to help you avoid corrupt content going on–air.<br />

This solution removes the cost of a “manual” visual inspection.<br />

MPEG Scan supports a wide range of file formats <strong>and</strong><br />

Audio/<strong>Video</strong> codecs. In addition, it lets you define <strong>and</strong> perform<br />

both objective <strong>and</strong> subjective testing, including TR 101 290<br />

priority 1 <strong>and</strong> 2, multiplex <strong>and</strong> rate analyses, audio-level testing,<br />

template checking, <strong>and</strong> video freeze/black frame detection.<br />

MPEG Scan performs configurable actions based on its test<br />

outcomes <strong>and</strong> its software offers a complete <strong>and</strong> automatic<br />

a different range of content volumes. Directly manageable<br />

The Audio/<strong>Video</strong> Codec Analyzer is a file-based media analyzer<br />

offering decoding <strong>and</strong> efficient analyses for current <strong>and</strong> future<br />

generations of compressed audio/video codecs. It includes the<br />

widely deployed MPEG-2 <strong>and</strong> H.264/AVC compressed video<br />

formats <strong>and</strong> now supports H.265/HEVC (High Efficiency <strong>Video</strong><br />

Codec) format. In addition to video analysis, the Audio/<strong>Video</strong><br />

Codec Analyzer is suitable for a wide range of compressed<br />

audio formats – from MPEG Audio, Dolby ® Digital (AC-3),<br />

Dolby ® Digital Plus (E-AC3) to AAC. The analyzer measures<br />

loudness <strong>and</strong> displays audio characteristics <strong>and</strong> waveform by<br />

establishing crosslinks with the corresponding picture in the<br />

checks teletext subtitles, DVB subtitles, closed captions <strong>and</strong><br />
