Why I want to be a designer!
As a designer I try to create things for making the
world more liveable and come up with more fun and
happy values. Design as a perception is my tool for
working in different areas. Going through the world
in a open minded shape let grow my creativity.
Because of my conceptual approach, design research
plays a huge role in my process. Experience new
things, listen to stories of all kind of people or
being part of some expert talk let my ideas flowing
and bring my motivation spirit to the highest
level.
Since now I had my main focus on creating things
where people are allowed to interact with it, taking
experiences out of it or were treated to see
things in other directions. While my passions are
about nature, science and triathlons I definitely
love to explore these areas for new inspirations
and there I m also able to refill my batteries
again.
In my view creating is one of the most exciting
things and I never would like to miss it.
My Name is Julia, 22 years old and I have done my
first diploma in June 2015 in the studio of Fiona
Raby (RCA) at the university of applied arts in
Vienna (Austria). Im taking right now an exchange
semester at AHO, Oslo (Norway).

Urbanization and the growing
population waste soils in huge
amounts. As 2015 is the international
year of soils people have
started to recognize the ongoing
loss.
Millions of microbes and tiny
animals which have their living
environment under the ground
disappear. The earthworm (lumbricus)
as one of these creatures
produce soil in the way of
its lifecycle. Called as indicators
of the ground they are
just there if the soils are in
adequate quality.
To cultivate the poor soils with
earthworms will be the main aim.
A underground solid out of precious
soils mixed with chalk
will be the base including a
birth chamber with earthworm‘s
cocoons. With natural forces of
rain water and sun the animals
will be guided in the worse soil
environment. A interface for
humans will be given on top of
the ground to observe, feed and
interact with the earthworms.

Uopa calls a urine cosmetic product which is
a synonym for an exemplary healthy lifestyle.
Urine as a functional health indicator figure
out human produced precious waste.
If people give their body just the best ingredients
also the „waste products“ will include
it. People have to realize the fact that urine
can be really useful if they do it right. Work
with the body together should become principle.

microbial lightbulbs (team work/4 months)
looking at a world where many products involve microbial mechanisms Animate Ltd protect modified bacteria by patent.
the light producing photobacteria live in a complex ecosystem. for the consumer it is forbidden to extract the bacteria
to secure the companies property rights. the security system let the lightbulb’s bacteria die if the nutrition is
used up.
a protagonist hacks the lightbulb to keep the ecosystems and their life forms alive and extend the products’ lifespans.

Alive - Where the digital and
the biological meet.

UMBRA - meaning shadow - is a sculptured
dog out of wire, synonym for
caged animals.
Placed in the city park of Vienna UM-
BRA interactes with people. In kind
of a role reversal the huge dog distributes
typical pet commands.
The project shows the social behaviours
of passerbys.
Why?
- Cities hold many dangers for animals
- Not ideal environment
- Most people are not aware of their responsibility
- Too many strays, poor shelter conditions
- Awareness

- Accepting animals and helping make

Influenced by movements
Lots of people tend to ignore their environment while
walking through their daily life. What if people
would be allowed to influence utopique items? Would
it
change the aim of attention?
With its (infra) red eyes and futuristic aestetics,
this shiny creature detects the precence of people
and responses back by pulsing movements. Approaching
in a slow pace will create a calm response while a
hasty movement will make it stressed. When there is
given attention it becomes alive and gives feedback
to people´s movement. The focus has been on how to
reflect movements and inviting the audience to interact
and explore.

Experiments with cress showed that cress grow very fast. The possibilty
of using other plant seeds offers a huge spectrum - It can be decided
by different areas or seasons.Newspaper and package material is lying
around in the environment.
Recycling paper and cardboard could be benefit out of it and close cirle
when it start to grow again.

the graphic and advertisment department. Before
I get part of the company I absolved a
few internships there. I’m grown in the stone
sector and appropriated a fair know-how. Interested

stone design and technology events, which was
kind of professional development.
I have redesigned the firm sign as well as I
created a corporate design (business cards,
labeling Folders and product catalogues are
designed with the techniques of HCM (human
centered design) and psychological studies.

At my internship at Strassacker I got to know
the bronze casting processing, classical product
design as well as design concepts. The art
scene was a huge part of the company’s work sector.
I have worked in the design atelier, Mainly
I worked on a project for a lowcost-practical
grave concept. Therefore I developed a design
conecept ( ideation, sketching) created the
prototypes ( 3D modeling and physical objects)
and one of them I finished in bronze casting -
the entire process. I have also worked on the
BAMBI trophy project.
