Mr. Duke reviewed the information regarding the Mid-<strong>City</strong> Plan by the RDA.<br />

Mr. Duke informed the <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> that the <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> staff<br />

participated in the Mid-<strong>City</strong> Civic Association Roundtable reviewing the ordinance<br />

changes for the Government Street Overlay and replacing that with the Urban Design<br />

Overlay.

Mr. Duke reported on the continued work with Fregonese and Associates on<br />

improvements to landscape regulations and the upcoming meetings with the Tree<br />

and Landscape <strong>Commission</strong> on August 5, 2015 and with the Zoning Advisory<br />

Committee and the American Society <strong>of</strong> Landscape Architects on August 6, 2015 to<br />

go over the current draft.<br />

He reminded the <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> <strong>of</strong> the upcoming webinars on the United<br />

States Supreme Court decision in Reed vs. Gilbert dealing with sign regulations and<br />

what local governments should be doing with regard to those regulations and the<br />

second webinar the following week on the same issue.<br />

The <strong>Planning</strong> Director announced that the next <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> meeting is<br />

August 17, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.<br />

He wished a Happy Birthday to Jason Engen (July 24).<br />

Chairman Wicker congratulated Kenneth Moye, Planner II on being named Employee<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Month for July.<br />

Mr. DuCote requested the identity <strong>of</strong> the current Building Official <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>-<strong>Parish</strong>.<br />

Mr. Duke responded that Carey Chauvin is currently filling that role.<br />

Mr. Ducote asked whether State ethics requirements applied to members <strong>of</strong><br />

advisory committees created by the <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>Commission</strong>. Mr. Messina promised an<br />

answer by the August meeting.<br />
