Director’s note
As young people, we’re all creative.
We draw, sing, build, and dream.
Yet somewhere along the way due
to the influence of others or our
own insecurity – many of us put
down these creative instincts.
But today we read of those who
simply ignore limitations and
break down barriers because they
have come to realize the best life
any one can live is life where all
your time is spent on the things
you want to do, things you love
without apologies. Irrespective
of where you are from, if you
really aspire to be a successful
entrepreneur and have the strong
motive you can turn your life into
one of the young multimillionaires
today. "Take up one idea. Make
that one idea your life--think of it,
dream of it, live on that idea. Let
the brain, muscles, nerves, every
part of your body, be full of that
idea, and just leave every other
idea alone.
This is the way to success." Swami
Vivekananda. This is the mentality
that most of young South Africans
have come to understand. They
didn’t give up on their dreams and
ideas they once had, rather they
invested their time, knowledge and
skills to make those dreams a reality.
With the current unemployment
rate in SouthAfrica at 25% from
the second quarter of 2015, all we
need is young
people with
entrepreneurial
mentality.
Those who are
willing to be
mentored and
at the same
time passing
the knowledge
back to others.
TAKING QAULITY AND
CRAFTSMANSHIP TO A
NEW
LEVEL
Rivoningo and Ntshembo are
both directors of Risuna Business
enterprise. A construction company
based in Cape Town.
Nov 2015 FAVYOU 10
Your relationship as
brothers and business
buddies?
As children My brother and I
we could not be separated, we
did almost everything together
and we began venturing into
businesses at a very young age.
We started selling sweets, then
we sold Litches, we sold amway
products, we sold juices, we loved
business from a very young age,
even when we got to university
we sold textbooks, we grew up
always looking for opportunities for
business. Said Rivoningo.

Where did it all start?
Risuna Business Enterprise was a
pre-existing company which was
started by Mrs NC Sombhane, our
mother in 2002. In the cause of
the years Risuna was no longer
functional. But in 2013 we changed
ownership of the business and
Risuna was renewed with a fresh
upsurge.
Why Construction?
“We went into construction because
we like challenge, we are addicted to
working hard, and construction is not
for the weak and timid. It is an arena
where the price of admission is a lot
of tears, sweat and long nights and
lost sleep, with peaks of enthusiasm
and depths of despair.
“It can feel like riding a roller coaster
operated by a mad man trying to
convince you to get off, get out and
go do something more relaxing.
Where to find you, How is
the business done and who
are your clients?
Risuna business entreprise is based
in Cape Town however we operate
everywhere around South Africa
offering Infrastructure development,
Construction services, Management
of projects and Social services.
Cover Story #Risuna Business
We bid for different kinds of
projects helping businesses
expand and also help build
homes for families looking for a
comfortable place to live.
And we usually employ general
labours from the areas our projects
are taking place so that we can
also give back to the community in
a way by making jobs available for
them.
What drives you?
The bible, is our manual for life
we get guidance to run both our
business and personal lives from it.
Word of advise
We would advise anyone who wants to start
any company to write up a plan for their
business, this written document will provide
a road map to get your company started.
Include your goals and outline the methods
you will use to meet those goals. Include
sections that address the financial aspects of
your business, your intended clients, required
tools, equipment and supplies, as well as
advertising plans.

Worcester Avian Park Library Construction
Then raise funds to start up your business, any method that would work best
for you, loans are always the last option you should look at. Get your company
registered and then begin advertising your new company in various media outlets
that appeal to your customers. Draw in some business by offering discounts to
your first few customers. Notify your friends, neighbors and relatives of your new
company. Ask them to spread the word among friends and coworkers.
Stop talking the ideas that you have and start to act them.
Success Story # Top Headboards
CUSTOM
MADE
BRILLIANCE
To see things differently, you have to think differently.
Great thinkers have the best vision, said Itumeleng Tlale.
Nov 2015 FAVYOU 14
An innovative, efficient and graceful
venture has encapsulated the
furnishing mainstream. Itumeleng
Tlale, 27, is the owner, founder
and designer of Top Headboards;
he has recently opened a factory
in Kroonstad, Freestate and he
is operating from there. Tlale
started small, the idea of designing
headboards began when he decided
he wanted to earn just pocket money
but things started to divert when
he posted his work on social media
and the reaction he got from people
encouraged him to go beyond his
vision.

Right now he is not only producing
the headboards but he has extended to
designing couches, pedestals and other
décor accessories.
Tlale’s work has a wide and unique
craftsmanship; his factory has
employed about 9 people involved
in the making of the soothing and
amazingly radiating beauty of the
designs. Before Top Headboards, Tlale
worked for Woolies and also landed a
job at Sanlam Sky and like most people
who started somewhere he received a
refuge, escaped and buried his life and
soul into something he had always had
a heart for. while growing up,
Tlale reminisced back when his
mother used to make money by
selling clothes, Tupperware and
to cleaning materials… he grew
up witnessing the drive behind
handling your own entity and he
said “I think that’s where I got a
knack for a business, is because of
my mother.” He also designs the
headboards depending on what his
target audience wants. Itumeleng
Tlale is a very spiritual person, he
believes anyone can do all things if
their focus is on God.
Success story # Royal Ice
Prevailed
Sipho Kenneth Skosana
Playing shop is not a foreign
concept to many of us. And
designing a label with uniqueness
begins with creativity and meekness.
Sipho Skosana is a self-employed
businessman; he began his
business after he graduated for
a Road and Safety Diploma from
Tshwane University of Technology.
Sipho hails from the dusty village
in Limpopo called Khathazweni; he
discovered he was into business
when his mutual friend heard about
his vision about business, he then
got referred to another person in
third party and joined in together to
start a business.
After a long two years in the
company, Sipho got dismissed in
the business because of minor
setbacks and miscommunication
with his business partner. He
initially got a clear vision and the
words that were uttered by his
former partner hauled him; he
said “I think it is better if you start
your own brand so you can control
it the way you want”. When he
quoted that I immediately saw a
sense of compliance… he quickly
returned the sentiment and further
explained that it was time he
elevated to other things.
Nov 2015 FAVYOU 20

Sipho’s perspective on
life and business changed
when he began his first
encounter with author of
the book ‘Rich dad Poor
dad’- Robert Kiyosaki,
his book titled ‘Unfair
Advantage’ changed his
outlook and made him
want to pursue business
more than what he
studied.
And straight after that Royal-Ice was born,
and also the events management which take
place in Limpopo every December where
they host soccer tournaments which benefits
local businesses, this idea was brought up to
burgeon in a business function and also to
improve their marketing strategies.
Royal-Ice represents a faculty of superiority,
the diamond standard. He said ‘I chose retail
because I love ravishing designer clothes
because I feel Africa has become a nation of
consumers rather than producers, we take
too much pride in products that have nothing
to do with us… rather than exploiting us.
‘I feel like business should be socially
responsible too and that is where the idea of
the events management came up.’
For more information about his brand go
https://facebook.com/eyRoyal.Ice | twitter
Royallce7 | istagram royal.ice
And with his craft being
the stepping stone in
every fathomage of his
life, he’s remained calm,
steadfast and focused
on his career. After a
while speaking to him,
without any questions
asked he said ‘I want to
be bigger than Tom Ford
and change the fashion
game’- he laughed
after this statement and
further added ‘I want my
business to be a global
company and go beyond
Africa and put it on the
map.’
Sipho Kenneth Skosana
is one of the people who
are hungry to feed their
passion and they can’t
stop until they get to the
finish line.
Success story # Mapula Moshoeu
ONE TO
WATCH
Mapula Moshoeu
“All our dreams can come true- if
we have the courage to pursue them;
persistence and determination alone
are omnipotent.” Limpopo-born and
Johannesburg-raised Mapula Moshoeu,
16, agrees.
Going back to that Thursday evening,
I embarked on a journey with this
young lady, her persona bewildered
me the minute she opened her mouth.
The level of maturity and confidence
she holds stiff in her character shows
determination and great virtue for a 16
year old high school student.
Mapula Moshoeu is currently
attending at Crawford College,
Lonehill. And since Crawford has a
tradition instilled for their students
to take up eight subjects, was that
when she finally (reached) grade 10
she chose her subjects depending
on what she enjoyed in her previous
grade… in this instance she
picked History, Physical Science,
Accounting and Business Studies.
Nov 2015 FAVYOU 23

Mapula is a very firm believer
and before she could even think
about taking up the position
of a CEO of a community
based project, she had always
declared words of faith in
that aspect. The idea of being
a CEO along with her CO-
CEO Zach was incorporated
into their curriculum at
school to apply what they
have learnt in their theoretical
learning programmes. Lonehill
implemented a contest for all
the business classes of Grade
10 on creating a sustainable
recycling program for
Crawford.
One of the reasons she chose history is
because she indulges in reading the good old
books in 1400, Shakespearean or Scottish
books, basically historical romances though
she explained that she also reads fictional
books out of interest. One of the few books
she read was Divergent by Veronica Roth,
with a sarcastic voice she shrugged and said:
“terrible book itself, but the movies make it
look so much better… the movie got praised
so much that I got excited before reading the
book.”
The notion behind the
concept was also to give the
students the platform to
showcase their capabilities
and their knowledge within
the business industry, as such
they also received funding
marketing operations and
financial parts written and also
implementation plan in place
on how the school can also
reduce the costing on waste
disposal, but also reduce their
carbon footprint. The winner
of the project will not only get
recognition from Crawford
Lonehill but also receive
funding in implementing the
plan by ADVTECH which is a
JSE registered company.
Nov 2015 FAVYOU 24

She and her team and the other
participants from her school got the
privilege to present their concept to
Crawford as well as the ADVTECH
Company. And at the end of the day,
Mapula’s group were the best contestants
who incorporated everyone else in their
steepness.
She confidently said: “other groups
only incorporated paper in their angle
but we had the school, paper and also
the Lonehill community” that is what
differentiated them from other groups.
We journeyed throughout her project
and as she was taking me back to the
events of the presentation, I began seeing
the witty side of this young CEO.
She proudly told me the adrenaline and
excitement she got when the principal
announced that they have won… with
a big smile on her face followed by a
laugh she said ‘the principal said and
the winners are… and then they put our
company logo on top’, she burst in a loud
cheering they heard from the crowd. She
went on and gave an advice to young
people about occupying their space
reading books, one of the few things
she had learned was that one get to see
the world in a different perspective,
‘when you read a book you kind of get
transformed into the character, you
can predict what they are thinking
because you’ve analysed the behavioural
attributes from the first chapter, and
also teaches you that different people
have different views according to the
circumstances that they read and where
they come from.’
Success story # Mapula Moshoeu
According to Mapula, her focus in
life comes from the word of God and
knowing what you want and if you
don’t know what you want then you
cannot keep focused.
She sees the future of her project in
all the Crawfords in South Africa and
also the ADVTECH Company.
Her project is yet to be implemented
next year April. This is an evident
example that age does not restrict how
far destiny and dreams can go, it is
about the desire and knowing one can
conquer the inevitable. I must say; this
was a compelling experience.
Mapula Moshoeu is one of the
upcoming, influential teenagers in
South Africa, striving for something
life-changing; something that
teenagers should advocate, contribute
towards, validate, support and be
proud of.
