Editor’s Letter
As November nears, there’s a touch of excitement in the air. One has left behind the whispers from the
rows behind at the runway shows. Yes, it’s that time of the year when the ‘Fashion Weeks’ around the
world has come to an end. Along with exquisite designs, the shows brought us the gasps & fissures of
the improvised responses to the paradoxes of the fashion world.
Talking about gasping, we have been excited in putting together a very special first issue of Bride and
Beau.
Every bride wants a special wedding—one that is different from any other. We have put together something
for almost every taste. It is not our style to preach or tell you what to wear or what not to do.
We share our experiences with you, to may be pick up on something you would do differently or even
be inspired by some of our suggestions. We live in the times where there are added pressures on each
and every one of us to look beautiful, and act in a certain way. We say that everyone is beautiful, but
there are certain things, which we can all do to enhance what we already have.
No one should be apologetic for wanting to look one’s best and neither would we apologise for wanting
to suggest beautiful things, not to put on a show, but rather to feel what we wear. Once we feel what
we wear, we know exactly ‘how’ to wear it. With that thought in mind, we have featured some exquisite
designs from the renowned bridal wear designers together with some gorgeous accessories from a
selection of highlighted brands. We do affordable luxury just as well as we do out of this world luxury.
Gorgeous hair to beautiful makeup, we have all the must have edits in place. From stunning wedding
dresses to the sophistication of Tom Ford shoes, the possibilities are endless with Bride and Beau.
We wanted to create a digital magazine, which is very minimal yet which covered many aspects of weddings
in the UK and the associated luxury lifestyle. So the only thing that’s left for me to say is, relax
and enjoy some bubbles as you draw inspiration for your own special day.
Much love
The bride to be wanted something
from Paris, something haute couture to
be precise...
Starbucks were ordered on our way to Regents Park for an afternoon
of inspiration. Mark stopped and asked, “What exactly does our
friendship mean to you?” You make me laugh was my reply. Then I
went on to say, “we are best of friends with different sexualities and
yet we respect and love each other without any boundaries”. There
ought to be a course in schools on friendship. Of course, some people
are perfectly happy with just a few friends. And I am one of those
‘some people’ who would rather have a few deep and loyal friends,
than many superficial ones. Others thrive best when friends are everywhere
and numerous but if that works for them then I raise my crystal
to wish them well. If there is a God, then friendship sure is his/hers
greatest invention.
Over the years, I’ve seen, planned, organised and had mini breakdowns
over so many weddings than I care to dwell upon, but one
thing is for sure; the bond between a bride and her bridesmaids.
Whether they see eye to eye or have their claws out throughout the
year, weddings are a time they unite and show their true love and
appreciation for one another. Going back a few weeks, I silently witnessed
something extraordinary; the love of friendship.
A relaxing day was planned with some breakfast pastries from Harrods
bakery in Knightsbridge and a picnic in Hyde Park for lunch.
Just as I ordered my pastries, I received a call from a softly spoken yet
very assertive woman named Clarice. “James, I know that you don’t
know me but I need miracles to happen”. Honey, I’ve not even had
breakfast yet! The panic in her voice spoke of the urgency and we
arranged to meet over a coffee at Berkeley Square. A couple of hours
later, we were sat at Browns speaking about how to solve her dilemma
of her best friend getting married with all that she ever dreamed of. I
only had one question; had she found a groom yet?
© Depositphotos.com/konradbak
Groom was the only thing, which was in place. Everything else was
in such disarray that even I needed to have a bottle of red in hand
before even trying to organise something grand in just 36 hours. With
hardly any budget, well let me rephrase that. ‘With no budget at all’
I was asked for help by a total stranger to make everything happen. I
couldn’t help but fall in love with the love between two friends. So
wine was ordered as we started to put a structure to the miracle wedding.
Flowers, cakes, reception venue and wedding breakfast were
organised during the first bottle. Dress was a whole different ball
game. The bride to be wanted something from Paris, something haute
couture to be precise.
Hello! We have 36 hours and counting, we have menu tasting to do,
bouquets to create, venue to decorate, cakes to bake and you want to
go to Paris and have a dress made? “Darling figure out the term ‘haute
couture’ and you will have your answer. Okay let me just say, that it’s
not happening.” I had too much to do and organise to even offer my
own services for something British and with no budget at all, there
was no chance of pulling a stunning gown out of a bridal designer
without some kind of sedation. Then the soft voice of Clarice whispered
that she could sew. Hallelujah; now we are rocking! No time
for a second bottle, we rushed back to my studio to choose fabrics.
Ivory chiffon and French lace it was. Off you go darlings, sketch, cut
and sew.
As I woke the following morning, my iPad seemed to scream, “5am
and you have just over 24 hours”. I went to see the new bride to
be, expecting to arrive in middle of her first dress fitting. As I gave
my driver the address for my destination, he looked puzzled. It soon
became apparent as we drove into an industrial area full of old warehouses
at East London; I was not going to see anything ordinary here.
I called Clarice as I got out of the car, a little door way opened and I
heard, “we are in here James”. Reluctant as I was, I took the plunge
and walked in, only to see a naked bride at that god-forsaken hour in
the morning.
Clarice sat at a sewing machine, which resembled something from the
times gone by. “What is this place?” It was full of magical old charms,
with blowtorches to mannequins covered in dust, which seemed to
have been layering for a few decades. It turned out to be an old warehouse
where they made everyday necessities during the Second World
War. I was in awe of the simplicity and the ingenuity, which was in
display between two friends. The time had arrived for the first fitting.
It was as if fate was playing its part by keeping all that dust away from
the beautiful chiffon; yes, miracles were happening before me. A few
quick design changes and a few additions being left out, not because
of the time constrains but rather due to the beauty of simplicity. We
arranged to meet up in the afternoon to finalise the planning over
lunch. It was time for me to leave the East London couturier and be
on my way to pick up the flowers and baking ingredients I had ordered
the previous evening.
Needless to say that purity of the white avalanche roses set the tone
for the design of the cake. It was to be elegant, sophisticated yet be
understated with lightness. I am lucky to have wonderful people
in my team and they all rallied round to make everything beautiful.
Flowers were arranged to my specific design as well as three beautiful
Madeira cakes baked to perfection. A few coffees and it was time to
ice the cakes. Ivory pearlised fondant icing with fresh roses cascading
down the tiers like a beautiful waterfall. Phew time for a final meeting
over lunch. Ritz was the destination and tiaras were on the menu.
A quick stop on the way, borrowing a few pieces of jewellery and numerous
pairs of bridal shoes from a stylist friend to show and select, we had
arrived just in time. Lunch extended to a fine bottle of French as we talked
pearls, crystals and wedding shoes. Finally it was time for me to see the
bride in beautiful chiffon and lace Brit-couture. There was no place other
than the powder room. My patience was gifted with the most gorgeous
bride I had ever seen walking out of a powder room. We had made it all
happen and all because the bride was lucky enough to have a wonderful
best friend in Clarice.
We have to consider ourselves lucky in life just to have one best friend who
will move mountains to make us happy. If we are lucky enough to have
more than one, then we are living a dream. Appreciate and cherish are
amongst many words which are often used by us all, but when we realise
the true meaning, we start to act accordingly. Too often we loose sight of
the things, which our friends do for us. Just a smile in a silent moment
can say more than a hundred thank you. I was honoured to have witnessed
‘that’ silent moment between two best fiends, Clarice and Victoria that
afternoon during the champagne reception. Sadly Clarice left this world
three days after the wedding she gifted her best friend with. But her
friendship will stay in my heart forever.
Mum’s the word
It was indeed very emotional, the day my sister got married,
plenty of treaded emotions to say the least. Noisy as
the whole scene was, we girls were busy getting our hair
and makeup done. To add more confusion, there were
the great old aunts around (those nosey kinds but sweet)
giving my sister all the tips on how to make her marriage
a successful one. Hello! It’s her wedding day, church bells
are ringing and who would want to tell the bride to be
that her wedding wouldn’t be successful if she didn’t do as
they say!
Prior to all of this happening, my mother had to pass a
litmus test of her own, choosing the right mother of the
bride dress wasn’t easy. Yes, at a wedding, the main focus
would be on the bride, in this case my sister; however,
the mother of the bride too plays an important focal role.
And she needs to be dressed to the occasion. My mother
therefore had to have the right hue and fit, the hemline of
course had to be customised and my sister’s approval was
needed for the same. I laugh in my head as i say this, because
my sister and my mother have choices opposite one
another when it comes to fashion and clothing. Hey, it’s a
wedding and things happen, miracles too and for once, my
mother agreed to allow my sister help her with the mother
of the bride dress.
Mum needed to look gorgeous, not just the hair, makeup
and accessories, but with the right outfit for the event.
For this, mum and I first looked online and checked with
various designers. We chose peach as the colour for the
dress to be, and more so since it gelled with the wedding
colour theme. Once that was done, mum got in touch
with the mother-in-law to be, and informed her about
the fashion updates, leaving no stone unturned (a clash of
colours here). Traditionally speaking, this is how my family
has been doing it for a very long time. We also sent out an
invitation to her, to come along with us and shop.
© Depositphotos.com/stokkete
My sister and I, along with her would be mother in law
and our mum of course, went out shopping that evening.
Right from the colours chosen to the shoes and accessories,
we began making lists while our chauffeur chaperoned
us around the city. This had to be right and none
of us would settle for anything less. The list was simple
but long, and the girls were determined to walk in those
heels, try out almost everything for the two mothers with
us, have a shot or few of champers on the way, check out
some men too and have fun shopping. Needless to say,
mother over a glass of bubbles went poetic, reminiscing
about the days my sister in her nappies would express her
desire to marry Prince Charming.
A tip here, when you shop for the mother of the brides
dress, follow the colour wheel. If the dress doesn’t compliment
that of the bridesmaids dress colours, you surely
aren’t picking the best. Remember, the shutterbugs won’t
stop clicking at the wedding, and there would be a lot of
pictures of the two of you together. Ivory and white is only
for the bride darling, and mothers aren’t the brides for
the day, they are mother of the brides. Black can be a hit
or a miss, just remember that you aren’t mourning your
daughters wedding. Thank Heavens, we finally found the
right colours and the right fit, but the style?
I didn’t want mum to look like an aunt turned modern
trying too hard, get the drift? And I have seen many mothers
of the brides trying to compete with their daughters,
when it comes to styling and doling up. It’s not that I want
mum to look ancient, no. She in fact should dress for the
occasion and for her age. What my sister and I picked for
her was something fabulous. We kept back the two piece
country club looks shown to us by the groom’s mother
(god help her dressing sense), said goodbye to the dresses
with hemlines hitting mid calves, dont even get me started
on the strapless red number shown (grooms mother’s
idea, Lord Almighty) and chose a bolero jacket with a knee
length dress, which flattered her personality too.
Since mother is small at her mid-section, the dress chosen
came along with a belt that helped enhance her height.
There weren’t any top troubles and no muffin shapes to
encounter. Along with the dress, we picked shoes in champagne
for her, we thought of silver, but again it’s mother
who wasn’t too happy with the latter, so champagne as a
colour it was. The shoe had simple sling back heels, which
made her look stunning and as a mother of the bride in
the true sense. Paired this ensemble with a nice simple hat
adorned with feather, and my mother was ready to marry
my sister off right there & then.
Accessories too were minimal, a corsage on the left wrist,
and a thick neckpiece without the need for too many
stones on it. This would save her the energy of managing
it all while giving those million hugs. Phew! That was one
evening choosing the mother of the brides dress, my sister
now is well settled and happily married. Her mother in
law has better fashion sense now, thanks to me. And my
mother is now planning my cousins wedding, so I hope we
dont have trouble choosing another dress for her, she isn’t
a newbie now!
BEAUTY
I was awake even before my alarm was due to go off. The
excitement was incredible, four bridesmaids, two flower
girls and the beautiful bride for hair styling, and all before
1.30 pm. My normal coffee, shower, teeth, makeup (Clarins
concealer is a God send) and hair routine transpires. I am
dressed in all black and my hair is neatly tied in a plait, which
is sprayed with Elnett hairspray to keep it off my face for the
day. I blow a kiss to my beautiful sleeping children, who were
out late at their Nana’s the previous evening. My husband and
I have one last passionate kiss before I leave, I grab my bags
and I’m off. I will be seeing him in a few hours; he’s following
me down to style the Groom and his entourage. We are a
team in every sense of the word.
Walking to the tube, as I walk pass my local bakery, the smell
of freshly cooked croissants surrounds me, I give in to the
temptation. Only in London will you find a baker open at 5
am. I love this city...
The tube station was so quiet, eerily so. I hear the tube coming;
fantastic! Stepping on to it, I look forward to eating my
croissant during my journey to the countryside. Still warm
the chocolate oozes with each bite I take, sending me into a
daydream of what had happened the evening before...
My husband had arrived home from work with the biggest,
most beautiful bouquet of red roses. The smell of him was intoxicating;
it reached deeply into my senses. He often wears
my favourite aftershave, Farenheit by Dior.
What scent hits your spot?
He ushered me to sit down while he put the flowers in water.
A bubble bath drawn and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, I was
in heaven. He poured himself a glass and began taking off his
clothes. His soft sensual touch caressing me all over, massaging
my aching muscles. It had been a busy week. Washing me
with the soft soapy sea sponge, he cleansed every part of my
body.
Golden Honeycomb Sea Sponge
My head tilted back, he showers me with hot water, and it
felt steamy to say the least. Starting slowly he applied the
shampoo increasing his strokes more and more.
I hear the tanoy and I have 4 stops left, running through my
agenda I refresh my mind on today’s wedding. Off the tube
into a cab with my overly large baggage carrying all of my
tools, and hair products. My favourite product being my
Loreal Techni Art Pli. I never go anywhere without it.
Arriving at the hotel , it’s beautiful... I stand and look for a
few seconds, taking in all the scenery. Composing myself I
take a deep breath, exert myself towards reception, with my
luggage in tow. A porter, who kindly takes my bags, leads
me to meet my working room. I am greeted with a continental
breakfast, freshly squeezed juice and fresh coffee as
standard of course. I nibble whilst I set up my equipment,
croissants too, unfortunately no chocolate ones.
A knock on the door... the four giggling bridesmaids enter
the room followed by their butler with strawberries and
champagne. Their laughter is infectious... Kisses and hellos
before they sit down but continue to chat about the previous
evening and what fun was had. I curl their hair using my
GHD straighteners and Loreal Pli. It has amazing hold and
allows curls to hold all day. Discussion moves to the Groom
and his entourage of males... And how much their heads
will be hurting today?
I wonder why this is, partners getting drunk the night
before the most wonderful day of their lives and especially
when they are going to be in so many pictures! Plaiting a
finishes this most simple yet classic style.
I always finish with my favoured hairspray Loreal Elnett Supreme
Hold, it hasn’t let me down yet. Absolutely love this
Flower girls are next; they are such cuties. Again using my
Pli to hold, I style an A symmetrical French plait into their
hair. With use of tiny little flowers I accentuate the weaves.
Stunning!
A knock on the door, it’s my husband, who arrives to style
the gents hair. He’s just popped in to grab his equipment
that he needs... With a cheeky wink he leaves the room.
I can’t wait till tonight. Yet more knocks, it’s the bride;
she glides across the carpet with sheer elegance. Greetings
made, I’m offered a glass of champagne. I decline for now.
Whilst we are conversing, she asks, “ So what’s the secret of
a happy marriage?” I reply “Don’t let other people interfere,
listen to each other and never let the romance die.” What
would be your advice?
I use my Babyliss Pro Curler, as her hair is very thick and
straight. Bumble and Bumble setting lotion is applied to
hold the curl without the hair feeling crispy. The curls have
to last all day so I am using the hottest heat setting. Pinned
up for cooling the make up artist enters the room and begins
the bride’s make up. I prepare the Tiara for placement
and check the florist has arrived.
BABYLISS
All running like clockwork, it is midday and the bride is
back in my chair. Sides twisted, knot tied and secured. Lots
of spray, the Tiara is placed through the twists to hide the
extra length. Pins to secure, the Bride looks it over and is
overwhelmed with the way she looks. A little tear appears;
quickly I grab a soft tissue as not to spoil her make up. She
looks incredible.
I make a call to the bridesmaids’ rooms to check if I am
needed for any touch ups. All is well.
I use my time to organise my equipment back into my luggage
bags, leaving out my necessity bag, which I will use to
touch up after the ceremony, before the pictures.
I receive a message from my husband informing me that he
is all finished and that he will meet me at the hotel he has
booked in a couple of hours. Excitement rises from my toes
to my tips.
The wedding ceremony was stunning; the most fragrant of
roses fill the room. I’ve never seen so many flowers, so intricately
planned. The Bride has her hair touched up for the
photographer and my work here has finished. My porter
helps me out with my bags into a previously booked cab and
I get driven to meet my husband at the hotel.
As I walk in to the hotel there is a fire blazing in the background...
What a romantic setting. I knew I could count
on him. We had taken the opportunity to have a night away
without the children. The husband dealing with all bookings!
My smile is bursting and I’m sure the concierge can
see the twinkle in my eye. Where would your perfect get
away place be?
My husband is waiting at our door ready to off load me.
Swept into the shower I go. Pure lust exerts and excitement
is building in me. I can’t wait for the surprise he has in store
for me. It has something to do with dark sticky chocolate,
my favourite. Dripping all over the floor I walk towards
the bedroom area... There on the bed are scattered red rose
petals, a bottle of Verve on ice and a huge fondue of the
richest dark chocolate. What a fun night I’m going to have!
Ever wake up in the morning, roll out of bed, eyes half shut, catch
sight of yourself in the mirror and just think, ‘Oh My God’! I don’t
remember looking like this? Then morning routine has to kick
in. For me, I’m usually still half asleep, I’ve never been a morning
person, thus getting ready to leave the house is usually rushed and
last minute.
As a beauty therapist it would be expected that we should probably
look immaculate to promote our businesses, however I very rarely
have a chance to have any ‘me’ time, so on a daily basis I tend to
do the essentials, scrub, tone and moisturise, then apply make-up,
get dressed and go to work. I guess it’s what the majority of us
do right? But if not, I would recommend that we should. Having
great skin is a fantastic base for any makeup! As I age I find serums
more suitable for my skin and use the Juviderm serum currently.
Weather tends to cause havoc with our skins too, so using SPF’s in
summer and good moisturisers/serums in the winter is advisable.
When it comes to coverage it is imperative to have a concealer and
foundation that will work with your skin type and preferably be a
shade lighter rather than darker, there are a wide range of products
on the market which will mean trying a few before finding
what looks best, textures, tones, thickness of foundation will make
a difference on the skin type you have, whether it’s dry, sensitive
or problematic, so choose carefully. To date I have used Boujois,
Maybelline, Max Factor, No 7, Mac, BB cream, Yves St Laurent to
name a few. Personally for my skin type I love using 3 in1 by Max
Factor, it covers well, has a matt finish and lasts throughout the
day. No7 concealer follows this, always apply with a flat brush, dab
and if doing under eyes try and sweep down towards your cheeks
rather than side to side. This will give more coverage, if you prefer
not to use a makeup brush then just pat lightly.
I then apply Mac powder; this will help your make-up stay in place!
Has minerals and provides perfect coverage, I’ve used other products
but highly recommend Mac makeup! I then bronze my cheeks
with Boujois powder to contour and make me look glowing, for
some blusher will be apt enough.
Use mascara that doesn’t smudge! Waterproof is fail-safe; especially
in the winter months or at events where we may get upset! In my
opinion, the thicker the brush, the thicker the application. L’Oreal
false lash flutter black gives my lashes the fullness they need. For
the evening, add eyeliner and/or false lashes for a more glamorous
look.
Eylure lashes have a fabulous glue, you don’t not need to be worrying
about unnecessary flapping or having your eyelashes becoming
For lips during the day... a chapstick or lip-gloss, very natural, providing
moisture and preventing chapping. If I was going out however,
a dual pencil/lipstick is rather handy, I tend to go slightly over
my lip border with the pencil to give the appearance of larger lips
and more definition, fill the inner lip with the stick and hey presto!
Luscious kissable lips!
Everyone has colour preferences, you can visit counters in your
local high street shops like Boots, House of Fraser, Bhs, where you
can product test and seek advice using colour charts or having a
mini make over!
In future publications, I hope to share with you more makeup tips,
product recommendations, offer advice or show you how to apply
makeup and what you can do to help maintain a youthful appearance,
talk diets, review what’s available on the market, get holistic
and answer any questions you may have in regards to head to toe
beauty!
I guess without realising that beauty actually has an impact on us
from a young age! Personally I remember from the age of nine,
wanting to wear lipstick and eyeshadow! I was a ballerina and
when we competed we were usually allowed to wear makeup. We
looked up to the older ballerinas who all looked beautiful and yet
so natural!
Now as a mother of three in my thirties, I have realised the importance
of eating healthy, supplements, maintaining healthy skin, nails
and hair, the dangers of skin damage, and trying to use products
and treatments that aid in the rejuvenation of my years.
Nowadays however, peer pressure, social media, advertisements
predict a standard that most of us want to ascertain and go to extreme
measures to get it!
Being bedazzled by beauty helped me decide to enter the industry
and become a beautician, I love it! Making people happy and feel
better about how they look, giving them the confidence that they
have somehow lost.
SHOES
VALENTINO
Love Latch eyelet-embellished metallic leather pumps
£650.00
What better way to unwind than with a glass of martini on the
rocks at the bar after a full day at my desk going through images of
shoes? This is how my weekend began; well let me re-live this crazy
story, which unfolded right in front of my eyes.
I was relaxing in the soft jazzy ambiance with a mixed crowd of
old and young. All of a sudden, I hear some very loud, all bling
and beautiful ladies laughing, sashaying and walking up to the bar.
The tone of their laughter echoed the entire hotel lobby. God Bless
those couples who came in for a quiet and romantic evening! I
couldn’t help notice their shiny dresses and beautiful heels. I felt
as though I was watching the episodes from the housewives of the
far shores. As an act of pleasure for myself, I was quietly prying on
them with one eye digging in my iPad. I know you might call me
a meddler but I seriously needed something interesting to unwind
with, at that particular moment.
“Three cosmopolitans please and make it strong just how I like my
men” as she winked at the bar man. Now that’s something interesting;
just then, her friend Chloe laughed and said, “Ashley, it’s high
time you got yourself a man, look at you, wild and barren. Why
don’t you get yourself spruced up and buy those “tease me shoes”
and hit the dance floor tomorrow night? I’m going to wear those
red Loubies which I just got from Mount Street. Let my heels and
my ass do the teasing. It has been way too long, I need to get back
on that ride too.” Oh my
Ashley couldn’t stop smiling slyly as she sipped on her cosmo, and
poor girl, she dropped the penny by speaking out her dirty sexual
fantasy of her husband, which was rather fascinating. “Among all
my 4 husbands, Callum, my last husband was the kinkiest. He liked
me wearing my Prada heels and stockings held up by killer suspenders
while dominating him in the bedoom. I just knew that he
only wanted to experience me as a dominatrix in bed, worshiping
my heels over and over again. This happened almost every night. I
so lost it one particular night, in a furious rage as the spanks rained
down on him, I demanded for him to give my heels a rest as heaven
is all over here (pointing at her breasts). Who knew that would
turn him off; and he cheated on me for that flat chested waitress
living next door.” I had to take a gulp of my own drink as the old
couple next to me put their opinion across to ask, “Did you ever
wonder if he wanted to wear your Prada instead of you?” I nearly
dropped my rocks!
As they were laughing and fooling around, those cosmos were
kicking their brains. Chloe had no hesitation in sharing her story
of a one-night stand with the man she met in Dubai. She said his
name was Kumar, tall, weatish and raw, “You could tell with his
charm he was a womaniser. He walked up to me at this club and
used his tacky one liner in his wannabe US accent, hey, how you
doing? I guess Joey from friends influenced him way too much for
his capacity. I just took my drink and left. He was persistant as he
walked over to my table and apologised for his cheesy behaviour,
which I kind of forgave him for. He than sat at my table only to
brag about his family and culture.
Getting bored and with the drinks kicking my libido, no matter
how ugly the man. I wouldn’t mind wrapping that man face and
getting myself sexually liberated. I invited him to my hotel room
and thus we began to get intimate, only to be shocked that his
equipment was as small as my lipstick. As soon as he left I was so
frustrated, I reached for my handy pleasure weapon, which knew
how to hit the right spot. Oh what bliss!”
As I turned back round from ordering another drink, I saw that a
gentleman had joined them and the conversations went to a different
degree altogether. He was Charles with an impeccable dress
sense, hairy and suave, and the way he spoke which nearly turned
me on. Go Figure!
Now they were discussing the correlation between shoes and a person’s
luck. How his beautiful pair of Ferragamo loafers would always
bring him luck from dates to businesses. One day he met this
girl though a popular hook-up site and he invited her to his place as
he gave into his urges of some titilating stimulation. He invited her
to share a few drinks as an icebreaker. I nearly choked as I heard
that Charles has his regular ritual of only wearing his Feragammos
before sex. As things progressed, the door bell rang as they heard
screams from his mother, “Charles, I need you to come down”.
This was a moment of disaster, as he watched in horror, that his
precious loafers were covered in something other than their suede
protectors. From there on, Charles never stepped into his Feragamo
while getting himself pleasured.
It was getting pretty late and Emelia the divorcee said, “My man
should be strong, sturdy and gifted down there. He should look as
handsome and rich as my Manolo Blahnik and definitely pleasure
me just as my Balenciaga. Talking about the size and girth nothing
like my favorite pair of Tom Ford. Tough from the outside but beautifully
smooth inside.”
To which, Katerina replied, “My shoes should be shiny and glamorous
just as my movie stars. My boots from Jimmy Choos are like
Madonna, edgy yet adventurous and crazy, screaming sensuality.
My Dolce & Gabbana pumps are as classy as George Clooney. Never
complains! And not forgetting my Loubies, they are like Johnny
Depp, those heels only speak sex.”
As the chatters got louder as more cosmos were served, Vera, the
old lady next to me tapped on my shoulder to ask, “May I borrow
your iPad dear, I’m in the mood for some shoe shopping.”
It doesn’t matter what brand we wear, what’s important is that we
feel confident in them, after all they are a reflection of who we are.
Shoes are not a luxury, they are an important part of our makeup,
our character. They are the souls of our necessities.
The new season by James Turner
It’s November… it’s autumn! There is a certain change in the air and throughout our
wardrobes nationwide. As the month nears, I always feel it’s a fitting time to have a
shuffle of our attire. Out with our typical British summer-time clothing, which usually
consists of coats, jumpers, and maybe the occasional pair of shorts if we are graced
by the few days of sun, we call summer.
But its what’s coming in, which I’m excited about. I often feel autumn is the most underrated
season. Yes we are losing our sunshine and even sunlight but if we embrace
the slightly colder, darker days, autumn can become a scene of magic and mystery. I
feel autumn is the perfect time to take centre stage. The falling of the leaves in a variety
of colours, provides the perfect backdrop to express yourself with what you wear.
The homme colour palettes seem to be very extended this season. I see grey as the
colour to build our autumnal vibe around. I like to use grey as my base and use natural
pastel colours to reflect my mood. I think transferring our mood into our attire is
important as it portrays our emotions without the need to say a word.
For day-to-day casual meetings, desert sage and cadmium orange sit nicely. They show
subtle tones of autumn whilst remaining sleek and professional. However, for the days
where casual just doesn’t cut it, this season a deep red on grey enforces our dominance
and mirrors our confidence. Red, the symbol of danger and love ‘they’ claim
red raises our heart rate and quickens our heartbeat just by looking at the colour.
Yes, this might only be temporary but if we can use our burst of confidence and take
advantage of it; who knows where it may take us?
Many pastel colours will be used this season, and the beauty is that they are not hard
to combine. Melon yellow works well with blues and greys, whilst one can switch it
up and throw some cashmere rose white and purple in the mix. The advantage of using
such colours this season is the diversity in the outfits we can put together. Instead
of changing our whole outfit we can drastically change our style easily as they all
intertwine nicely together. Swapping the melon yellow for a purple can reform you
into a mysterious individual.
For a flawless look this season I’m extremely
fond of Dolce & Gabban’s cotton
poplin gold fit shirt. £215.00
Partnered with a grey blazer outlines
professionalism and elegance. The blazer
I would partner with this is the Ted
Baker bigspil jersey blazer. This keeps the
outfit settled without going too dressy.
£195.00
With regards to the trousers, the colour
black, ties the outfit together nicely.
If you’re feeling trim, go slim! This is
exactly what I would do with the Armani
cotton black jeans. £96.00
We will all need a jumper, thankfully Versace
has just released a stunning variety of
knitwear. My favorite is the barroco wool
knitted sweater. With this jumper you are
sure to stand out of the crowd for all the
right reasons. £670.00
Sticking with Versace I also believe, that
the Barocco jacquard sweater will have
the same effect. The exceptional design at
the neck of the jumper will have people
finding their way to your face and getting
lost in your eyes. £450.00
As for the trousers, I believe their role
is to keep you looking polished. I recommend
Ralph Laurens stylish looking
chinos.A true American classic available
in an array of colors boasting a zip fly and
button closure. £85.00
When it comes to everyday wear, Paul Smith offers a
great selection of high quality garments. Sticking with
the autumnal theme I have picked out a well-presented
dark red and black striped polo shirt.
This is a regular fit, which is relaxed around the shoulders
and the body. However, slightly tightened around
the arms, perfect for after the post gym work out!
£75.00
Ted Bakers polo range is becoming more popular year after
year. The detail put into each of the polo is exceptional.
From elegant floral designs to modish zigzag’s and stripes,
there’s a polo for every mood. I think this is a great looking
polo, the bright color will ensure you don’t go unnoticed.
£55.00
This months top high street pick has to go to Burtons
Forest wool blazer.
This captures the natural colour palette we are going for
this season combined with a clean-cut style. Remember
that perfect fitting is a must and ensure you never fasten
the lower button. £85.00

ELEMIS
S.O.S Survival Cream
£46.00
ELEMIS
Smooth Result Shave
& Beard Oil
£22.50
It may come as a shock to some people but men’s skin is totally different
to a woman’s skin, it’s richer in cologne and takes longer to age. However,
shaving everyday can cause havoc with our metabolism. Every day shaving
leaves our skin prone to dehydration and sensitivity, because it can remove
two layers of our skin during the process. I, like many of my friends
dedicate my skin regime to a host of different brands, the main one being
Elemis. This particular brand has many anti-oxidants and exotic oils in
many of their products, which leaves the skin smooth and refreshed. I am
going to touch briefly on few of the Elemis products, which line the shelves
of my grooming regime.
The very first product I invested in was the Elemis S.O.S survival cream. If
you lead a busy life and every minute is crucial then this little blue pump
definitely should be on your first to buy list! It is the equivalent to an emergency
call out! I have a plethora of Elemis products, however the S.O.S
survival is in my bag as a standard. It’s the perfect solution for sensitive, dry
and blemished skin first thing in the morning.
Although I prefer a quick shave most days, sometimes I do opt for a traditional
razor shave. Either way, one of my favourite products is the Elemis
Smooth Result shave oil. It’s the perfect formula to soften those bristles for
an extra close shave. And if you choose to keep your beard, then you can
also use this as conditioning oil. An alternative to this, which I have also
tried and liked, is the Elemis skin smooth shave gel. The active blend of Aloe
Vera and Witch Hazel is expertly combined with Chamomile extract and
cooling Menthol, which provides a very close shave indeed.
My skin is ultra sensitive due to the hectic lifestyle and one too many
glasses of alcoholic beverages. It needs extra care after shaving. During
travelling, I always pack the Elemis post shave recovery mask. It doesn’t
take long to work it’s magic! I am forever rushing to my appointments so
shaving is something, which has to be quick; I do not have time to spend
thirty minutes having a relaxing shave. Hence the odd little nicks and cuts
on my neck are inevitable. In my teen days, I used to put some tissue paper
on the cuts and wait for it dry; these days I rely on Elemis to do the job for
me. It takes care of any little cuts and leaves my skin feeling calm of any
irritations.
My next appointment is always with Elemis Daily Moisture Boost, it’s a hydrating
lotion, which soaks in really fast and leaves my skin looking natural.
There are plenty of products in the men’s grooming market which claims a
lot of things and believe me, I have tried plenty and always end up looking
like I have some kind of product slapped all over my face. This is where
Elemis for men is so very different. It does the job without looking like you
have seen a ghost!
As the years start to catch up with me, I have recently started using the
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream for men. It simply helps to firm up and
smooth those little annoying lines, which has recently started to appear.
Part of this routine, I also use the Elemis Time Defence Eye Reviver. Late
nights are inevitable just as early starts are irritating! This particular
product keeps me looking like I get full ten hours of sleep every night. My
skin is challenging for any brand of products, thankfully Elemis keeps me
looking smooth and feeling refreshed.
Daily Moisture Boost
£30.00
I often come home late in the evening after a long drive and those over
worked muscles are tired and aching. After trying many different products,
I came across the perfect one, which leaves me feeling completely relaxed
to enjoy the rest of the evening. The particular product in question is the
Elemis Aching Muscles Super Soak, which warms the muscles to help them
relax.
RELATIONSHIPS
Love, Luck & No.13
It all started with two numbers. The numbers of the breakfast
items at a downtown New York bakery. As I walked through Central
Park, I admired the beauty of the red maple trees towering
above, starting to welcome my favourite season... Autumn. How
nice it would be to be able to afford to live in this location!
When I first moved to the city, I dreamed of living in an apartment
overlooking Central Park. This wasn’t to be, however I got to live
somewhere, which inspired me more. As I received a call from the
Manhattan real estates about the most perfect apartment for me,
the voice on the other end of the call sounded nervous when it
came to giving me the address for a viewing; the address was number
13 at upper East side! Knowing that 13 was my lucky number,
my heart had already bought this particular place on the way to the
viewing. As I arrive, the taxi bill was $13. Could this really be happening?
The realtor was very keen to show me a glimpse of Central
Park, which could be seen through a slither of a crack if you hung
half your body out of the bedroom window! There and then I had
offered the full asking price for my first Manhattan apartment.
Love at first sight or was I just lucky? Yes that stuff does exist it
seems.
As I settled into my new apartment, my regular visits to the Central
park became a daily routine. Often I would lose myself in there
with a Starbucks in hand, wondering aimlessly. All the while, soaking
in inspiration from couples on romantic carriage rides to the
stillness of the lake, which mirrored the sadness of reality - a single
girl looking for love.
The morning of October 11th, just a couple of days after my
birthday with one too many cosmopolitans and a heavy head to
take care of, I decided to head out before the downtown rush hour
began. Just as I had arrived at my favourite breakfast bar, the smell
of a fresh autumn morning together with freshly brewed coffee
became intoxicating. As I enter, a pair of vivid blue eyes held the
door open (well, at least that’s all I saw) and like a gentleman, let
me in the queue before him. It is most certainly a crazy place to say
the least; orders have to be placed as per the number they are listed
against, on the menu board. The staff behind the counter constantly
and frantically trying to keep control of the numbers, which are
thrown in their direction like confetti outside a church! My mood
took me to number 3, extra skinny late with a dash of hazelnut and
a freshly baked croissant. The blue eyes behind me shouted number
10 as his choice.
As I paid and took a seat, I couldn’t help myself but to take another
look at those eyes. As clear as ice, yet dark like the moonlit autumn
sky... There it was; the voice spoke to ask may I? In a New York
minute I had invited him to sit opposite me for breakfast. There
were no words, just total silence until our breakfast arrived. We
had both received someone else’s order it seemed. I had ordered
no 3 and Mr. Blue had chosen no 10. In front of us there were
scrambled eggs with smoked crispy bacon and home fries. As it
turns out that was item number 13! In the madness of the morning
rush, the ladies behind the counter took the liberty of adding our
order numbers together and serve us both with lucky 13.
The following morning, as I rushed to catch the subway, fate had
decided for the same blue eyes to help me on the carriage before
the doors slammed behind me. What are the chances of that! An
exchange of smiles and an uncomfortable silence, after all neither
of us wanted to break the etiquette of public transportation and
actually speak to a stranger. As my mind spoke, to give me a tongue
lashing; he is not a stranger, he is Mr. Blue, number 13! Just before
I stepped off the subway, I nervously whispered a question in his
ear; same time same place tomorrow? Needless to say I only received
a cheeky smile in reply!
The following morning, I arrived early and waited at the exact spot
where that particular carriage door would open. The train arrived
but there was no Mr. Blue stood inside the doorway, the disappointment
must have been written all over my face for others to
see and for me to feel. In a split second I decided to give fate one
last chance and wait for the next train. As I waited, I found myself
asking, have I been looking out for the number 13 to appear in my
life or is it that it does really appear constantly in my life?
The next train arrived, the doors opened and I see a pair of the
most gorgeous blue eyes appearing from above the two hot and
steamy Starbucks! My heart skipped a beat as I stepped onto the
train; he took the liberty of bringing a skinny late for a Starbucks
date during the ride. Our first date, and yes when I checked my
iPhone it displayed 13th as the date on the screen!
A string of dates which always ended on my front doorstep with
a good night kiss followed for several months until one particular
evening during dinner when Mr. Blue surprised me with 2 tickets
to the city of romance... Paris.
As we checked in and received our boarding passes, there it was
in black ink, seat 13 & 14. We arrive in Paris, check into the most
gorgeous hotel for the weekend. As we approach our suite with key
in hand, I had to take a step back as I saw the number on the door
157. I added the numbers in a nanosecond to achieve 13. There
it was, the first time we made love was in the luxury of suite 157
overlooking the unmistakable Eiffel Tower. The night, which went
beyond the good night kisses on the doorstep, the night when my
world changed forever.
Mr. Blue, not only was the perfect gentleman, but he was a man
who loved making little romantic gestures throughout each and
every day. Be it just a single kiss in a blank text or a few whispers
of sweet nothings over a random phone call, the months have been
a plethora of constant romantic gestures. What girl could ever not
fall for such beautiful romance!
We were now eight months into our regular flights of romantic
weekends in Paris and all the decadence one can imagine, including
his birthday, which was 22nd of December. Now I am no genius,
but when I subtracted my birthday (9th) from his, I end up with 13
and when I added the two birth dates together, I end up with 31,
which seems to be number 13 backwards! Could this actually be
love, luck and number 13?
One must-do things on every trip for us, was an early evening walk
by the Eiffel Tower. It was a Saturday as we walked; Mr. Blue wanted
to grab a Starbucks for us both. He went in to get the drinks as
I sat outside at a typically French cast iron bistro table watching
the leaves float in the soothing breeze as the city welcomed in the
autumn. The drinks arrived as Mr. Blue handed me my Starbucks
accompanied with those three little words, which every girl likes
to hear. As I looked in the cup, there was no coffee but a red box!
As I opened the red box, I discovered a brilliant colourless rock
bound in platinum from a certain jewellers...
My fingers weren’t working, they wanted to dance elsewhere
The room was bright and so right that evening, while the rains
lashed outside. I sat by the window, waiting for Clara as she freshened
up; I had a romantic surprise planned for her. Clara and I are
University sweethearts, and today we are married. The rains got
heavier as the winds took speed, I could hear the screams of agony
as nature yelled by the windowsill. Clara sure was taking in a long
time, couldn’t blame her much, we just returned from our wedding.
My darling was the centre of attraction, with a long white evening
gown at the reception and the seductive moves on the dance floor,
with every step and grace. We danced as we did back in university
days, like two best friends back on the floor to burn and break a
leg or more. The first dance after being married an hour and a half
is what she stunned the audience and attendees with. Everyone
gasped at the sight of us entwined in each other’s arms. Looking
deep in her eyes, although I felt like a man, I couldn’t stop thinking
of the five long years of agony. It’s my wedding night, and life is
still but a dance. I just have to perform the right moves.
Back in the days and even at our first jobs, we were the best of
friends; you could ever imagine us to be. Nothing was hidden and
even though there were times when she or I was upset, we promised
one another not to get cross. This is what brought about the
honesty between us both, the fact that we could confide in one
another anything and everything. Our relationship always received
compliments, on how I was lucky to find such a lovely soulmate.
Sometimes friends and their beaus with one another compared our
relationship. Most of her friends asking their beaus to be the man I
was, I would laugh it all away.
“A little music and a drink darling” said Clara, as she walked out in
all her naked beauty from the en-suite. I could still feel her from
the wedding, when her lips were dangerously close to mine as we
danced our first dance. Never did I leave an opportunity to compliment
her looks. I always wanted to kiss her beautiful lips, sometimes
for no reason at all, and I did it. “A large or something small
to start with honey” I asked, as I reached for the vintage crystal
decanter.
“A large one please” she said, as she sat naked with her veil in hand
by the dressing table spraying her favourite perfume; Chanel No 5.
The past somewhat wasn’t going from my head that night. Flashes
of those days when she wanted to give it all up, walk away from me
and go back to the abuser who tormented her life, her ex. “Two
becomes one darling”, said Clara as she walked up to me and took
charge of the crystal. She looked deep into my eyes, sipped her
drink with a smile and slowly swooned to the soft playing music,
while grabbing hold of my hands and leading me on. “I forgive you,
I truly do Clara, I forgive you” said my mind as my hands travelled
down her beautiful body, till it reached her navel. “You cheated
on me with your ex, but I still love you and that’s why we are one
today” a thought ran again across my mind.
“Why is it that I cannot trust you and love you like I did, and yet
cannot stay without you?” my mind was talking but my hands were
caressing, I could hear her coo and moan as I tingled. Rewind a
year, as she was in a threesome with her ex and his woman, which
I only found out a week ago, and yet she looks so beautiful that I
cannot question her.
“I need to know what is what” and the plethora of thoughts just
filled me through, as my face dug deep into her. Clara started to
undress me, until the two of us were skin to skin. Clara guided
and pushed as I fell back on the stool by the piano in the room. It
seemed to me that the hotel room was well dressed for the occasion,
sombre yet bright; an amalgamation of romance and deceit,
the room knew it all.
She turned me to the piano and asked me to play her favourite
piece. “Just the same way you played the first night, play darling
play” said Clara. I lowered my face a little in a bid to hide my
feelings, Clara could read my mind most of the time. “The melody
from Dancing in the rain darling”, as she gently touched my neck.
My fingers weren’t working, they wanted to dance elsewhere. I felt
tired of hiding my emotions, and I couldn’t do a thing but to play
the melody, because... I am in love with the woman I just married.
Without a hesitation, I grabbed her by the hands and pulled her
close to me, as she dropped her glass and stared at me as if I was
about to kill her.
Clara freed herself and nudged me to play on, the last dance was
about to start. I got up from the piano chair and increased the
volume of the music that was playing; while being watched with
disapproving eyes. ‘It’s now or never’, I thought to myself as I
walked towards Clara and pulled her in. Our eyes met and we
danced slowly at first, and as the rains hit the panes harder, our
bodies soaked each other’s warmth. With deep gazes and kisses,
the winds outside were howling without mercy, as if they wanted
the truth to be out, the pain to go from my heart, of lies, sex and
deceit she played. I still loved her, looking deep into those eyes,
I gently kissed her soft lips, “I will always love you sweetheart” I
said, Clara looked at me; she knew the truth was known. Her head
on my chest, the music grew louder and the final dance had just
begun, only for two.
The five years of betrayal and games, of cheating and lies, of
everything null and void, now was coming to a final close. The last
dance is what healed it all, I still loved her and that’s why I had to
say, “I do”.
HONEYMOON
“It was testimony to the fact that our bonding had arrived well in
time.”
You never know where he can surprise you, for me it was at a
friends wedding where he announced his proposal to marry me.
Yes, that was indeed a surprise, one that I had no hints about at all.
We now owe each other a magical experience of a lifetime, for the
interlude he already brought forth. The reason why I say we owe
is because, an engagement isn’t a one-time affair, and it is a magical
process that goes on for life. It has plenty of emotions and love
in it, yet being rational at the same time, commitment wise. For
my marriage, I know it is going to take a lot of maturity, love and
above all patience to make it an unending love story.
The engagement for me was a sneak peak to what comes ahead,
the rest of our lives depended on it. We have been with each other
for quite some time now, but marriage and to wed one another did
raise a few questions, concerns too. Marriages bring about adjustments
and compromises, and both of us have a role to play in it. It
also demands, honesty and love along with compassion as well.
The honeymoon was a blessing; it was a time when I left
© Depositphotos.com/konradbak
everything, including my day job as a freelance fashion writer.
When I look back, I see my husband and I went on it with an aim
in mind, to understand one another and to adjust with each other.
The frantic aura of the fashion world, the glitz and glamour, the
fast life et al, I left them all behind, just to be with him. He left his
corporate job, those phone calls and plenty of client meetings, just
to be with me. What we envisioned for the honeymoon, were long
relaxing moments in each others arms, dinners that spoke of intimacy
and love, sex that was more emotional and attached, walks
that let us hold each others hands as we moved ahead in life.
We both have our own passions and desires, for him it is sports
and for me, my writing. Living in London for a long time, we were
both thrilled to be on a week long honeymoon at Hawaii, where
he could have all of me, well for sometime I would have fashion
updates from the beach strollers. Absurd I don’t think so darlings,
thrills come and go as and when they have to, you just have to soak
them up.
My honeymoon as I pictured was an intimate one for two. I remember
him waking me up to the sound of the waves every morning,
whispering, “Love you baby” in my ears, as the salty sea breeze
of the early winds blew through our bedroom. Breakfast on bed
was great, with him eating off me at times, and I off him too.
The hotel we stayed in had a couple’s spa; newly married couples
weren’t disturbed all day long. Discreet attendance and customer
service made everything great and romantic; I was living a fairy
tale romantic honeymoon, but yes, a compelling one too. At times
he would wander off for a walk, which was okay. Sometimes I
needed space for myself, the pleasures of making love was too
much to handle on day three.
Sightseeing and catching a moment with each other, while other
groups ventured ahead were unplanned but exciting. It was testimony
to the fact that our bonding had arrived well in time.
The honeymoon suite was decorated with white roses. The side
boards had white roses neatly placed in bunches. Our expectations
in all forms were now matching, compromises were happening,
and at times I was grinding my teeth, but we managed it well.
It’s been a while since we tied the knot, and I am happy as happy
can be. There was a longing for hysteria and pleasure, which the
romantic getaway got for me. Right from the time at my friend’s
wedding when a piece of the wedding cake had my proposal ring,
to the time we made love at the honeymoon suite, and now, I am a
happy woman with the man of my dreams. I reach over him at the
dinner table, just as I did at the honeymoon every night for the last
bite to share. When his lips touch mine, the food obviously tastes
better, and I know it’s my man who is now mine.
I am joyously celebrating my life as a married woman, very happy
to be content in all spheres of a happy marriage. A honeymoon
somewhere exotic and discrete does teach you a lot, even if the
location is a popular haunt, there would be virgin places undiscovered.
Go right ahead and make that honeymoon special. This is a
time for the two of you to bond.
Amalfi Coast
With towns tumbling down to the sea, towering cliffs and views to die for, the Amalfi coast in Italy is
certainly a dramatic setting. A regular star of the silver screen, it’s a magnet for both the glitterati and
literati. It’s an ideal place for romance between yachts and luxury villas. Leave the car behind – it’s fun
to get around here by boat, local bus and the odd taxi. It’s the perfect season to visit this coastline during
it’s sleepy yet authentic period for an unforgettable romantic break.
MUST SEE & MUST DO
The Amalfi coast drive
Stretching 50km east from Positano, the white-knuckle Amalfi coast drive
– a road clipped into the edge of a vertiginous cliff face – is Italy’s most
spectacular coastline.
Take a sunset cruise along this famous piece of coast, champagne in hand.
Sail off to the Isle of Capri, visit the blue grotto and try the local Limón
cello. If history is more your palette, then you can visit the near-perfectly
preserved remains of ancient Pompeii. Drive along the Amalfi coast and
have your breath taken away.
Positano
Chocolate-box Positano is a must-see as the beautiful setting of John Steinbeck’s
1950s novel of the same name. Browse the town’s little galleries
and bijou shops and people-watch from the terrace of one of its glamorous
hotels.
Ravello
Hovering at the top of a 1,000 feet clifftop, lofty Ravello is everyone’s
favourite beauty spot. Visit in the autumn for Ravello’s open-air music
festival, when al fresco opera in an exquisite setting above the sea offers the
perfect way to spend a summer’s eve. If rain gets in the way, there are plenty
of cafes to wander into for a consoling shot of Limón cello.
Amalfi
Be sure to visit the town of Amalfi itself, sprawled at the foot of the cliff
beneath hilltop Ravello.
Sorrento
Sorrento was believed by the ancients to be home to mythical temptresses
who lured unwitting mariners towards the cliffs with their wistful songs.
The town seduces today’s visitors with stunning views over the Bay of Naples.
Isle of Capri
Take a boat ride out to the millionaire’s playground of Capri. While this
glamorous island can heave with tourists in the high season, the crowds
magically melt away in the upper village of Anacapri, whose cable car takes
you right to the island’s peak.
Isle of Ischia
Less well known than glamorous Capri, Ischia is easily reached by
boat or hydrofoil from Naples and smaller towns along the coast.
Less cosmopolitan and more Italian in feel, it has some lovely
gardens and secluded coves.
Salerno
South of the Amalfi coast, Salerno and its surroundings make
a great base for visiting the Greek temples of Paestum and the
nearby Cilento national Park. There’s plenty of scope for water
sports along the coastline.
Maratea
Two hours south of Naples and an hour from the Amalfi coast,
the city of Maratea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and begs
exploration. You’ll find some 44 churches among its narrow medieval
streets, and plenty of wild coastlines nearby.
LE SIRENUSE
Glamarous and dreamy address in a chocolate box setting. Chic
and regularly showered in awards, Le Sirenuse has played host to
scores of celebrities over the years. Luxurious suits and rooms
feature Wi-Fi, I-Pod docking stations and DVD players. You’ll
want to splash out for a sea view. Junior suites have front row sea
views as well as everything a luxury establishment should have.
You can dine on Neapolitan dishes such as linguine with frutti
di mare, served in the glow of 500 candles. There’s also a champagne
and oyster bar on the terrace, where you have fabulous cliff
edge views. You can take a sunset cruise on the hotel’s own boat
and let someone else steer while you kick back with a cocktail.
MAISON LA MINERVETTA
This is a plum designer address bursting with visual vroom.
Architect Marco de Luca has created a stunning boutique hotel
here on Sorrento’s cliffside. Maison La Minervetta feels more like
an airy Mediterranean style loft apartment than a conventional
hotel. All rooms have soundproof walls and doors, Sky TV, Wi-Fi
connection and direct dial phones. There’s a panoramic terrace
and access to a private beach. Almost everywhere you walk in this
boutique hotel, the views are absolutely stunning and the captures
your imagination for a true romance of the Amalfi. Room
8 was our favourite, with its wrap-around glass where only the
waves can watch you.
VILLA CIMBRONE
Arriving at Villa Cimbrone is rather like walking into a living
temple of art. We were instantly captured by its incredible hilltop
INTIMACY
“Sweet pancakes & morning after”
As the silk sheets blow with the morning breeze and the sun beams
gently on his face, I kiss his cheek, there is nothing sexier than
listening to him wishing me in that husky morning tone “Good
Morning”. As I remember the lustful playtime from the night
before, the thought of showering together and making love once
more, his deep passionate kisses against my gentle skin, his fingers
tweaking and playing with my nipples or maybe his manly legs entwining
mine was overwhelming.
The morning has begun and we are hungry. A Thought; a hungry
lion is indeed more ferocious than a lion well fed, and I am talking
about ‘sweet pancakes the morning after’.
The creamy delights of pancakes with a touch of raw chocolate,
oh yes chocolate always keeps his energy going and strong, and I
always recommend chocolate for more action, if you know what I
mean. I caress the silver knife to cut a generous piece to tease his
lips lovingly, as we inhale the freshly baked aroma of the sugary
bases, a taste he would never forget. In return I hear, “you just
have to ask and it shall be done.”
Right from the moment we sat on that breakfast table, naughty
thoughts of the night before running in our heads, especially
his, the sweet smelling and delicious pancakes are served hot and
piping, just like the way he loves it. Even God himself would go
down for some more of these steamy delights. I can’t help but lick
my fingers as I pour the velvety double cream over the crispy base,
softly holding the fresh fruits like a heated palm on my wanting
body. Some plain ones too, oozing with delicious juices from a
freshly squeezed lemon. All the choices are here to tingle and tantalise
those taste buds, ready for some post breakfast affection.
He kissed, as I tore his pancake with my fingers to tease a little.
We walked towards the coffee table, where tea for two, sat pretty
in all its shimmering glory. As he pulled me gently on his lap, I felt
tenderness, realising for the first time whom he was; the man I
married, a total rival to any Greek God.
Just as the pancakes came juicy and delicious with generous toppings,
so did my man that morning, as his hand went exploring
while I fed him the first serve. He leant back, while I used my
finger for a teasing portion of some thick double cream. As he
relished the cream from my fingers, his hot wet tongue met mine,
for I was hungry too. That’s when the crème played naughty once
again; my hands now were filled with strawberries as he bit them
off me, one by one.
The chocolate sauce on the next pancake was the naughtier one to
have, I drizzled it teasingly on his abs. “Oh I’m sorry”, said I while
he smiled with a twinkle. He complained at nothing, but chivalrous
as he is, my man bent lower to feed me the remains, from his glorious
lips to mine. We smelt and tasted of chocolate and strawberries,
while pleasuring one another with our hungry taste buds.
As he reached for some more pancake, I felt his breath on my neck;
it took me to a place of pure seduction. I could feel him grow
with every breath with every touch as his whites fell loose and my
breakfast thus got served. The hard times lasted for more than what
I could have imagined, as he dipped his enormous thick long fingers
where it was needed. Softly as I moaned, he licked the cream
and devoured the remains from my bosom. Uncontrollably I let
out a satisfied moan, a long and strong one. He unlaced my lingerie,
while I grabbed on to the last pancake on the table. With more
cream, chocolate and strawberries thrown over me, I felt his hands
treating my body as a platter of delight. He stroked and played and
went down on me stronger than ever before, knowing exactly how
and where, to make me lose all control.
Breakfast was served as we kissed till lunch!
WANT THAT GROOM
In most cases, and believe me when I say this darling, men would
hardly ever let you know when they need some intimacy. Most of
them are shy, no matter how much they show off in public, and
there are in ‘the mood signals’ a man shows, which helps him tell
us he needs a sexual punch.
Take a look at his erection, oh no, not down there darlings, I mean
his eye erection. Do you see the dilation of his pupils? If you closely
look into his eyes, do so romantically, and you would notice the
black part of the eyes go small from large and vice-versa. This is a
sign, he needs you and he needs you now.
Sometimes, a man would put his thumbs down there, inside the
loops of his belt. Well most men do that publicly too, but when he
is with you and does a gesture such as this, he usually wants some
attention down there. This is his way of showing you the airport
tarmac, which tells you a lot about the mighty airline, which needs
to rise.
Unless your man has a cold, he wouldn’t be rubbing or touching
his nose too much. Studies have shown that erectile pleasure and
the nerves are interlinked to the nose too. So if he touches the big
nose there, you know what else he wants you to touch. And you
surely know the connection of the nose with something else, don’t
you.
I particularly fancy men with deep voices, the deeper the voice the
deeper they go and which of us girls wouldn’t like that... However,
when I am with him and his voice gets husky and deep, I know
my man wants me on the pillows and now! Sometimes, when we
are out and he starts talking sweet nothings, he rubs and cups my
shoulders, sometimes on a subconscious note, but that’s a sign
enough for me to grab the opportunity and take him home.
Now take a look at what your man or groom to be does, and
thinks. Is he a fine piece of meat/ real estate/ the Greek God you
always had orgasmic dreams and thoughts about? Is he fine with his
clothes and without his clothes? You deserve being with a man, a
man who knows how to use every part of his contoured body well.
However, a man who knows how to mentally turn you on too.
Luckily, through all these years of dating, I finally have found my
man, my soul mate, who knows how to keep me hooked.
Your man needs to be different and not run of the mill kinds. Never
compare him with the rest, to movie heroes and celebs, that’s
wrong and morally may not be correct. I think what most of us
women are looking for, apart from companionship and love, is the
sexual satisfaction a man can give us. Of what use is a marriage,
when we women don’t get the action in equal measure from the
one we marry?
My husband to be knows how to do things differently. He makes
me a meal when I come home tired, my bath is ready with the salts
in, pours me a glass of wine, eats out of my hands at dinner, and the
night is hot and steamy (few times a week and sometimes more).
This isn’t a fairy tale I am living, we do have our ups and downs
like every other couple, but we know how to manage it well. Expectations
be dammed, we go with the flow, surprise one another,
talk sexy and play naughty games now and then.
He understands my every mood and me (training darling training),
he knows the right spots to tickle and tease. He knows how to
comfort my physical and mental needs too, and this is what make
the two of us gel so well. There is a strong emotional connection,
intimacy assured and physically we are bombastic with one another
in bed. While making love, he is raw, passionate, wild, sexy,
emotional, expressive and understanding; all of which makes great
sexual games even more intense. While having sex, he goes out of
his way to give me extra minutes and sometimes an hour of ‘women’s
needs’, he goes down on me well, caresses me teasingly, while
we cuddle naked and indulge in foreplay.
He says the right things at the
right time, and that’s what makes
me ecstatic and looking forward
to meet him back home every
evening. Darlings, if you want to
excite your man, you have got
to understand how to please him
down there. We women can make
or break a man’s ego, and pull him
out of the clutches of the ‘momma’s
boy’ syndrome.
Perfection is what I personally
think is a myth; we only get better
at what we do or with what
we have. No one is born perfect,
but when we train our minds and
search for the right husband to be,
nothing is impossible. He should be
someone who is very realistic (I’m
so done with the popular romantic
notions of husbands to be), knows
how to manage his work and
home, and also keep me happy in
bed (well I am a woman with needs
too). And that is what makes a sexy
husband, who wouldn’t want that
