Last Day term 4
School finishes at 3pm
Suzanne (Suze) Osborne, teacher of the lucky Room 17 children, and team
leader of the Year 2 Team, will have her last day at school tomorrow before
taking maternity leave.
Suze and her husband Matt will make amazing parents and we wish them well
for the safe arrival of their baby in the coming weeks.
You are a wonderful teacher, leader and friend of us all Suze, and we look
forward to you returning at the beginning of 2017.
We welcome back Lisa Murray, who is well known to many of us and will be
teaching in Room 17 until the end of the year.
End of Year Tidy-‐Up
It is that time of year when we are starting to gather everything in.
• Do you have any DSS school jackets or shirts at home?
(Not the cricket ones as they are still in use)
• Have you noticed any school readers/library books that
are not being used?
If you have any of these we would appreciate it if you
could send them along to school. Thank you.
The deadline for ordering class, individual and team photos is
All orders placed by this date will be back to school prior to Christmas.
Ice-block Friday Tomorrow
Bring along $1 and receive a yummy iceblock at lunchtime.
All proceeds from iceblocks sold goes towards our Arts
programme at David Street School.

On Saturday 6 students from DSS went to a concert at
Waikato University to perform with 70 other students from
other schools.
It took a bit of time to get inside and, when we did, we got
separated from our family who had come to watch.
The 4 ukuleles were drowned out by the sound of the guitars
and the drums. It was really exciting playing in front of a big
audience filled with our families.
After that, we waited and waited and waited until finally
Mal [one of our teachers] called out “has anyone not played
yet?” All the DSS students raced down the stairs to get ready
to go on stage.
We were excitedly nervous and had been a little worried they
had forgotten us as we were the last school to
perform. While we were waiting we got jumpy and fidgety then finally we went on stage under the dim lights.
We played “Boots are made for walking.” That last song was probably the best and it was the finale for the show!
We had lots of fun and had a great time.
Gallery Concert
upcoming "Concert at the Gallery"
tomorrow celebrating The Art
Gallery's 5th Birthday since
opening.
The concert is on Friday 6 th
November at 11am and involves
students from kapahaka, middle
and senior choir, recorder, ukulele,
senior guitarists, aerobics, hip-hop
and cheerleading groups.
We hope to see you there.
Kahikatea Team (Yr 0-2) Tuesday 8 th December. This term the juniors are using their imaginations to design and make
their own creations using resources around them. We will be visiting Bowentown to consolodate this learning. The theme
around our town. We will be leaving school at 8.30am and will be back at school before 2.45pm
Kowhai Team (Yr 5-6) Every year to celebrate the things we have learnt and the time we have spent together, we go on a
