New Opportunity from
New Deltasig Partner
At Charles Schwab, we strive to see through
clients’ eyes and value making a difference in
their lives. We feel this strategy sets us apart
from our competitors, earning us recognition as one
of Fast Company’s 2015 Most Innovative Companies,
resulting in significant recent account and asset growth.
As we expand our business in order to support our
growing client base, we are committed to developing
talented professionals who can grow along with us
through the Schwab Financial Consultant Academy.
“I see the Financial Consultant Academy as a
tremendous opportunity for college graduates. We
designed the program to help provide a strong foundation
of knowledge and experiences to set participants up for
long-term success. Learning the tools of the trade in
the Financial Consultant Academy is important, but a
financial advisor’s job isn’t all financial. We’re looking
for college graduates with the innate ability to develop
relationships.” Brian McDonald, Senior Vice President
of Client Service and Support.
The Opportunity
FC Academy combines experiential learning with
a structured career path. The cohort-style learning
experience was designed to help build participant
knowledge, skills, and abilities as they gain real-world
experience servicing Schwab clients. Along the way,
participants receive coaching, mentorship, and access to
industry experts to make sure they’re equipped to enter
the branch network upon program completion. During
this immersion participants encounter a mix of formal
classroom training, coaching, and experiential learning.
Formal classroom trainings are led by industry
professionals and cover subjects ranging from basic stock
market knowledge to more advanced subjects such as
technical analysis, options trading, and asset allocation.
In addition to coaching that participants will receive
from their direct supervisor, they’ll receive careerspecific
coaching from a former financial consultant.
The “Cohort Coach” brings experience and knowledge
in four key areas: wealth management/relationship
building, managed investing, financial planning, and
portfolio management. Coaching is delivered in group
and individual settings. Lastly, it wouldn’t be an
effective preparatory experience without incorporating
our client focus philosophy. Throughout the Academy
participants will work directly with clients in roles of
increasing responsibility.
The first phase of FC Academy takes place in Client
Service & Support, one of Schwab’s largest business
groups. Participants are immersed on a team of Schwab
Financial Service Professionals while still engaging in
