Michael McDermott ’11 wrote to the La Salle faculty on
the occasion of his and many of his La Salle classmates’ graduation
from college: “I know that I speak for my class when I
say that we all would not be in the positions we find ourselves
without the guidance and care that we were afforded while at
La Salle Academy. Each one of us contributes to a generation
that is etching its mark in history with each passing day. The
contributions to science, art, and technology by each member
of this class are remarkable… I may be but one voice, but I
speak for us all in our overwhelming gratitude for the work
that you have done.”
The star of faith, our Signum Fidei, is not simply embossed
on school stationery or etched into the façade of the building.
The star of faith, that spirit of faith and zeal, lives in the
lives and hearts of the members of the La Salle Academy educational
community — its teachers, administrators and staff;
its students; and, its alumni. It energizes each of us to see all
things with the eyes of God and to act with ardent zeal, with
compassionate care and with burning love.
My prayer is that faith and zeal always be our core driving
principles, our inner spirit, so that Jesus might indeed live in
our hearts forever!
