SCHOOLS’ COMEDY SHOWCASE
The young people of Leicester are a funny lot and it gives us great pleasure at Regent College to once again host a showcase of their comedy
work. Learners from several schools including Sir Jonathan North Community College, St Paul’s School and Bushloe High School come together
for an evening of fun and laughter. Each year the comedy changes reflecting new trends in humour. These are the Stand-Up stars of tomorrow.
SEA MEN (A NAVAL TALE) - LETLUCE
Charmingly anarchic breakthrough duo LetLuce were wholly responsible for 2014 word of mouth hit Show Pony. Put your lovely armbands
on for an absurdist, magical voyage and more “excellent surreal mayhem” (Sunday Times). Join LetLuce as they voyage into the ridiculous
with the cockle-warming tale of an unlikely friendship, set in the heart of The Atlantic Ocean. “Skilful, joyful, old-fashioned clowning” Guardian
SEAN HUGHES: MUMBO JUMBO
Multi award winning comedian Sean Hughes is back with a new show called Mumbo Jumbo. Though out his life he has been battling to
stay on the right side of sanity. This is because in middle age he has realised that the two sides of his brain are in constant conflict. There
is common sense against mumbo jumbo and mumbo jumbo seems to have the upper hand.
SEAN MCLOUGHLIN - WHATEVER IT TAKES
After finally clawing his career out of the toilet and towards the stars, Sean McLoughlin should be at his happiest, right? Unfortunately
this long-awaited improvement in career has coincided with an astonishing collapse in his personal life. Sean has beaten the system and
yet finds himself at the mercy of it. From these two conflicting circumstances a question has emerged: Can a man rise and fall at the same time?
SEAN MORAN - ROLE MODEL
At 35, Sean Moran is definitely an adult. But despite being a dad and former teacher, what sort of role model is he really? Mixing
personal anecdotes with observations on politics, religion, celebrity culture and driving etiquette via the odd impression, Role Model is
a hilarious look at the difficulty in setting a good example when it’s hard enough trying to convince everyone you know what you’re doing.
