The mission of the Daniel Trust Foundation is to support students from low-income<br />

communities with their educational and career needs, and to honor teachers, who are<br />

making a difference in the lives of these students and communities in which they teach.<br />

We accomplish our mission through our scholarship program; the Daniel Trust<br />

Foundation Scholarship, our teacher/educator recognition program; the Kathy Silver<br />

Award and our mentoring program for high school juniors and seniors, the Daniel Trust<br />

Foundation Mentoring Program.


ABOUT THE DANIEL TRUST FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP<br />

The Daniel Trust Foundation Scholarship is a 4-year $2,000 scholarship awarded to students<br />

who are working to make this world a better place by giving back to causes they are passionate<br />

about in their communities. Students selected for this scholarship receive $500 per year to help<br />

pay for their college textbooks and other related college expenses. In Addition to the 4-year<br />

scholarship, our scholars receive mentorship and support from the foundation.<br />

Diamond is a 2014 Daniel Trust Scholar.<br />

She graduated from Central High School<br />

in Bridgeport, CT. She is a sophomore at<br />

North Carolina Wesleyan University<br />

majoring in English and Psychology.<br />

Micheline is a 2014 Daniel Trust Scholar.<br />

She graduated from Archer High School in<br />

Lawrenceville, GA. She is a sophomore at<br />

the University of North Carolina at Chapel<br />

Hill majoring in business management.

Henryriana is a 2014 Daniel Trust Scholar.<br />

She graduated from Bassick High School<br />

in Bridgeport, CT. She is a sophomore at<br />

Southern Connecticut State University in<br />

New Haven, CT majoring in Biochemistry.<br />

Jocelyn is a 2014 Daniel Trust Scholar.<br />

She graduated from Darien High School<br />

in Darien, CT. She is a sophomore at<br />

American University in Washington, DC<br />

majoring in Political Science.

in Bridgeport, CT. She is a sophomore at<br />

the University of Bridgeport majoring in<br />

Arts Academy in Hartford, CT. She is a<br />

sophomore at the University of Saint<br />

Joseph majoring in English.<br />

graduated from Serra High School in<br />

San Diego, CA. He is a sophomore at<br />

the University of California at<br />

Berkeley majoring in entrepreneurship.

at Georgia Institute of Technology<br />

She graduated from Stamford High<br />

School in Stamford, CT. She is a<br />

freshman at the University of Maryland<br />

majoring in business management.

Linzi is a 2015 Daniel Trust Scholar. She<br />

graduated from Archer High School in<br />

Lawrenceville, GA. She is a freshman at<br />

Mercer University majoring in Non-Profit<br />

Management.<br />

She graduated from Brentwood High<br />

School in Brentwood, NY. She is a<br />

freshman at Harvard University majoring<br />

in Political Science.

Meagan is a 2015 Daniel Trust Scholar. She<br />

graduated from Archer High School in<br />

Lawrenceville, GA. She is a freshman at the<br />

University of Georgia majoring in Biology.<br />

Daniella is a 2015 Daniel Trust Scholar. <br />

She graduated from New Britain High <br />

School in New Britain, CT. She is a <br />

freshman at Central Connec@cut State <br />

University majoring in Biological Science.


CYNTHIA<br />

<strong>OUR</strong> SCHOLARSHIP <strong>IMPACT</strong><br />

Since launching our scholarship program<br />

in 2014, the Daniel Trust Foundation has<br />

pledged $30,000 in scholarships ($10,000<br />

has been awarded) to 15 bright students<br />

who are attending prestigious universities<br />

around the country including Harvard<br />

University, Yale University, American<br />

University, and UC Berkeley.<br />

Our students are from 4 different states:<br />

California, Connecticut, Georgia, and<br />

New York.<br />

Cynthia is a 2015 Daniel Trust Scholar. She<br />

graduated from Central High School in<br />

Bridgeport, CT. She is a freshman at Yale<br />

University majoring in Computer Science.<br />

As we head into our 3 rd year of<br />

operations in 2016, our efforts will focus<br />

on developing and growing our local<br />

high school mentoring program. Students<br />

enrolled in our mentoring program will<br />

be the ideal candidates for the Daniel<br />

Trust Foundation Scholarship.


ABOUT THE KATHY SILVER AWARD<br />

When students apply for the Daniel Trust Foundation Scholarship, we ask them to nominate an<br />

educator (teacher, guidance counselor, or principal) for the Kathy Silver Award. This award<br />

honors and recognizes an educator who has gone above and beyond to help our scholarship<br />

recipients succeed in school and in their personal lives. To date, we’ve honored 9 educators and<br />

have awarded $4,500 in cash prizes, to help these educators continue making a difference in the<br />

lives of their students and communities in which they teach.

KIM<br />

Our founder, Daniel Trust, created<br />

The Kathy Silver Award in 2013 to<br />

honor and recognize his high school<br />

Art teacher, Kathy Silver, for all she<br />

had done to help him succeed in<br />

school and in his personal life.<br />

In 2014, the 2 nd Kathy Silver Award<br />

was awarded to Dr. John Casper, a<br />

science teacher at Bassick High<br />

School in Bridgeport, Connecticut.<br />

Dr. Casper was Daniel’s science<br />

teacher and Volleyball coach.<br />

2014 Daniel Trust Scholar Micheline Amisi<br />

nominated and presented her College and<br />

Career Counselor, Kim King, with the Kathy<br />

Silver Award.<br />

In 2015, our 7 scholarship recipients<br />

nominated and honored teachers and<br />

educators who have gone above and<br />

beyond to help them succeed in<br />

school and in their personal lives.


ABOUT THE DANIEL TRUST FOUNDATION MENTORING PROGRAM<br />

In December of 2014, we created the Daniel Trust Foundation Mentoring Program to help high<br />

school juniors and seniors who are from disadvantaged communities prepare for college and the<br />

real world. Students who are enrolled in this program receive support with searching and<br />

identifying employment opportunities, we teach them about financial literacy and how to<br />

manage their personal finances, we help them obtain their learner’s and driver’s permit, we write<br />

them letters of recommendations, we proof read their college and scholarship essays, we take<br />

them on college tours and so much more.


<strong>OUR</strong> MENTORING PROGRAM <strong>IMPACT</strong><br />

6 high school seniors currently participate in our mentoring program. These students attend<br />

Bassick High School and Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut.<br />

We’ve helped our mentoring program students with the following:<br />

Ø Find employment opportunities<br />

Ø Obtain their learner’s permit<br />

Ø Open their first bank accounts<br />

Ø Taken them on college tours<br />

Ø Reviewed their college essays<br />

Ø Written letters of recommendations


We introduced our internship program for college seniors in 2014. To date, we’ve had 6<br />

students from Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticut, Albertus Magnus College,<br />

University of New Haven and Fairfield University intern with us.<br />

Most notable, Djess Jacques from the University of Connecticut produced The Seeds of Trust<br />

video, which has received rave reviews. Heather Mooney from Fairfield University is the<br />

producer of our new YouTube talk show, which is also getting a lot of buzz.


<strong>OUR</strong> SCHOLARS ARE SUPERSTARS<br />

3 of our 2014 Daniel Trust Scholars have appeared on<br />

3 different Connecticut daytime talk shows. Scholar<br />

Anmol was interviewed by Gwen Edwards of News 12<br />

Connecticut for her Our Lives Show, Scholars Jocelyn<br />

and Eric were interviewed by Teresa Dufour of News<br />

8 on her Connecticut Style Show and Scholar Keyana<br />

was interviewed by Kara Sundlun and Scot Haney of<br />

Channel 3 on their Better Connecticut Show. Our<br />

scholars are superstars in their own right. J
