Due to the mass massacre of Chinese
by VOC in Batavia 1740, the fighters
of the Chinese were supported by
Javanese patriots united to counter
attack VOC post. This war ignited by
revenge named as Sepanjang War
or Chinese Riot. The war took place
between 1740 and 1743. This was
the biggest war in Java during the
occupation of VOC and it covered
large territory.

Indonesian of mixed Chinese origin had
been given a negative stigma, however
this community could not be separated
from Indonesian nation. In reality, the
presence of this community, as a result

the period of Dutch colonization. This

out by Iwan Santosa, a journalist of
Kompas daily newspaper, between 2001
– 2012. This book explores the other

mixed Chinese origin and many relative
of diverse Indonesian ethnic, apart
from political prejudice created by the
authority.
