Robert Newman:
The Brain Show
Saturday 20 February | 8pm | £15 (£12 concs)
After volunteering for a brain-imaging experiment
meant to locate the part of the brain that lights up
when you’re in love, Newman (British comedian, author
and political activist and also best known as one half
of TV comedy duo Baddiel and Newman) emerges
with more questions than answers. Can brain scans
read our minds? Are we our brains? How can you map
the mind? The show includes a specially constructed
MRI-hat that will record Robert’s real-time brain activity
during the show.
“He is the funniest comedian I have ever seen…
a passionate, chaotically brilliant comedian.”
Rock ‘n’ Roll: Gene Vincent
& Jerry Lee Lewis
Thursday 25 February | 8pm | £13 (£11 concs)
Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent are two giants of the
rock ‘n’ roll era and they are back on stage for this one
off concert. Lars Young (Rock ‘n’ Roll Paradise, Be Bop A
Lula), creates an inspired and uncanny performance as
the mean, moody and magnificent Gene Vincent whose
rebellious persona and on stage attitude influenced a
generation. Jerry Lee Lewis was undoubtedly the first
wild man of rock. His stomping piano playing - filled
with crazy antics, was second to none. This is an
exceptional night of rock ‘n’ roll nostalgia.
Lizi Patch presents
personal conversation between a mother and her
son about online pornography went global. This play
combines live performance with animation and an original
score and explores the complexities of our relationship
with pornography, the dangers and redemptive qualities
of the internet, and the contradictory nature of our
feelings about sex, censorship and parenthood.
