has been ‘Cook, Learn, Grow.’ This fall was her first time playing
soccer with LTYA. Gabe has been working in his spare time with
some local not-for-profit organizations to help provide them with
a text-based solution that allows people to donate via text. This
included an event that was done to help benefit the Wimberley
flood victims as well as a fundraiser for the Bastrop fires. I volunteer
when I can at Serene Hills Elementary and am an active Life
Group member through our church, Lake Hills Church.”
“We LOVE the holidays. Especially me – I get so excited from
Halloween through Christmas and we try to make things really
fun and festive. During the month of October, Gabe and I
like to watch as many scary movies as we can. We also have to
have turkey on Thanksgiving (no hams, please!) and I have to
put up Christmas decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving.
We always do 2 trees— 1 real and 1 artificial. I have justified
this over the years as we started out with just a small “Charlie
Brown” tree when Alaina was a baby, thinking we needed a place
to display all her special ornaments -- in addition to our regular
living room tree. Each year though, her tree gets a little bigger.
Last year it was bigger than our artificial tree! We’ve been fortunate
to have our Elf on the Shelf, Felly, return year after year,
as well. We used to live in a neighborhood where we had amazing
block parties and hope to start some new block-party type
traditions in our new neighborhood!”
So what’s their favorite part of Rough Hollow? “Alaina said her
favorite part of living here is her school, Serene Hills and she
loves her new bedroom. However, her Dad and I know that she
also really loves the pools, activities and Kid Venture camp in the
summer! Honestly, we love pretty much everything. This area
has more to offer than we ever imagined prior to living here. We
asked Alaina what tip she would give anyone new moving into the
neighborhood and she said “It’s a very fun place. The restaurant
here is really good!” If you ask Gabe or I--we’d say it’s the people.
Everyone here truly seems to care about making RH a tremendous
community to live in. One of the neatest things about living here is
that everyone has chosen to move here and we are all in the same
boat of being new to the area and wanting to establish friends and
grow that sense of community. Many of us don’t have family that
are local which I think adds to the general desire of our residents
to get to know each other and contribute to our community. This
place feels like home – and we truly feel lucky to live here!”
