QR celebrates 150 years

July 31st 2015 saw Queensland Rail
celebrate 150 years of rail service in
Queensland. In 1865, a track between
Ipswich and Bigges Camp (now Grandchester)
ran for 34 kilometres. This transported wool
and produce from the Darling Downs regions.
Then shipped to Brisbane’s ports by steam
train. 500 passengers took the first fleet
by four Queensland Rail trains on July 31st
1865 and was celebrated by history making
celebrations.
Today, Queensland Rail’s network is widely
developed across the Sunshine State.
Connecting the Queensland communities
by long distance, tourist and city network
services.
To help celebrate this historic event
QRI Lifestyle, RT Health and Railways
Credit Union teamed together to hold
a sausage sizzle at Bowen Hills and at
Railway Centre One and Two. Queensland
Rail staff enjoyed the sausage sizzle,
soft drinks and cake. Staff were also
encouraged to dress up as a station.
Creative ideas steamed from this
with one in particular station being
‘Helensvale Station’! It was a great event
enjoyed by Queensland Rail Staff, QRI
Lifestyle, RT Health and Railways Credit
Union. Many thanks to everyone involved
for a great day held.

What’s on
QRI Lifestyle hosted its annual charity golf day which
was held on 11th September 2015 at the Keperra
Country Golf Club. The golf day was organised to raise
much needed funds for RSPCA. The event was an 18 hole
Ambrose with a shot gun start, commencing at 7.30am.
It was encouraging to see 15 teams tee off with great
enthusiasm for the day of golf ahead. All players received
their QRI Lifestyle bags filled with golf accessories, drink
vouchers and golf carts were also included. Golfers also
had the opportunity to participate in novelty events like
the longest drive and closest to pin.
The day concluded with a wonderful prepared lunch by
the Keperra Country Golf Club and the winning teams
presented with prizes. A huge thank you to all players who
bought tickets in the raffle to win a wide rage of prizes
that were donated.
QRI Lifestyle would specially like to thank the sponsors
who contributed to the day. The major sponsors were QRI
Services, Allianz, Everton Engineering and Coca Cola.
Another thank you to the prize sponsors who donated
prizes to the raffle: Club Super, Le’Petit Gourmet, Peter
Roberts Promotions, Keperra Country Golf Club and
RSPCA who donated the huge cuddly wombat.
Overall the day was a success by any standard and all
golfers and sponsors should walk away knowing they have
contributed to a great cause.

on Sunday 16th August 2015, went off
without a hitch! From the feedback and

Interstate Carnival a great success
This year’s ANZRI Darts Carnival which was
held in August 23rd to September 4th in
Rosebud, Victoria, once again proved to be
very successful.

Thursday 15th October saw that time of
year again where QRI Lifestyle teamed up
with program partners.
This is a great opportunity to showcase
