PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE AND CORE VALUES
Ouimet Board
We were also saddened by the passing of two long time Directors – Dick Ganong and Peter Maich (page 56). I hope you can
take the time to look at the full list of other supporters and friends we remember on that page.
We added several new Board members this past year and will soon embark on a program to study our strategic plan for
the next several years. And, while we think of our future, we always need to thank our great supporters at the clubs and
other groups. One of the best is Ouimet Alumnus and former President Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Dick again stepped up this
past year as sponsor of our Annual Banquet and made a special matching gift pledge for our Board to help us get closer to
realizing our final goal on the Campaign. We are also proud to share the news that, in early 2016, Dick will be presented the
Frank H. Spellman Award by the Massachusetts Golf Association in recognition of his tremendous service to golf.
Scholarship and Staff
Being able to also report an overwhelmingly successful complete first full year of the online application process is
something our entire board and staff take great pride in. We have received such positive feedback from the Scholars on this
process and it has set a great foundation allowing us to streamline our communications with the families as well as the clubs
where our students work.
I would like to thank our dedicated and talented staff of Bob, Colin, Danielle, Jackie, Michelle and Ross who work throughout
the year with all our constituents, across so many programs, to help make the above success possible.
In closing, things are looking very strong for the Ouimet Fund following 2015 and I am encouraged by some of the steps we
have begun to take to make our organization even stronger for years to come.
Sincerely,
Gregory J. Gailius
President
OUR CORE VALUES
Mission Statement
The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund is committed to providing need-based
scholarship aid to students who have demonstrated a strong work ethic by
having completed at least two years of service to golf. The Ouimet Fund
rewards accomplishment through the competitive, renewable award. The
Fund is dedicated to providing the golfing community with an opportunity
to “give back to golf” and society by assisting youth in furthering their
education. The Fund also seeks to preserve the history of Francis Ouimet’s
contributions to American golf.
Vision Statement
• The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund promotes the character-building aspects of golf in the tradition of Francis
Ouimet. The Fund is unique among golf charities with great potential for growth through support from Alumni,
volunteer leadership and the golfing community.
• The Fund is dedicated to fostering growth of the caddie programs throughout the region thereby broadening the
scope of Scholars to create a more diverse group of Scholars and Alumni.
• Opportunities are plentiful for Trustees, Board members and volunteer leaders to participate and become
involved in activities that will move the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund to a greater level of financial assistance
for Ouimet Scholars.
