CalciAIM
NPN 80033077*
CalciAIM provides highly absorbable calcium along
with the supporting nutrients that are crucial to proper
skeletal function and overall wellness.
As we age, our stomachs cannot produce adequate amounts
of the acid required to absorb calcium properly. Your choice of
supplemental calcium is important.
The Physician’s Desk Reference states, “The average person
can only absorb twenty percent of calcium from tablets and
thirty percent from capsules. Solubilized in a beverage,
calcium powder provides approximately 98 percent of its
bioavailable elemental calcium.” When you supplement your
calcium intake with beverages made from CalciAIM powder,
you have made the right choice.
There are 206 bones in the adult human body. Along with
cartilage, those bones comprise the entire skeletal system, and
their strength is imperative to good health. Proper bone density
is dependent upon adequate amounts of calcium, the most
abundant mineral in the human body. Ninety-nine percent of
this nutrient is stored in the bones and teeth to support their
structures. The consequences of a calcium deficiency range from
an increased risk of fractures to osteoporosis, and more.
According to the 2009 Canadian Community Health Survey,
an estimated 1.5 million Canadians over the age of forty reported
having been diagnosed with osteoporosis (porous bones and
deterioration of bone tissue). One in four women over the age of
fifty and one in eight men over the age of fifty have this disease.
However, research shows that decreased bone mineral density
can occur in a much younger population.
Osteoporosis is referred to
as the silent thief because bone
loss happens without perceptible
symptoms unless a fracture has
occurred. Over time, bone tissue
is slowly stolen from the skeletal
frame to extract the calcium
required for the other biological functions in the body. Bone is
a living tissue that continuously renews itself in a process called
remodeling. Two types of cells performing opposite functions
are involved: Osteoclasts break down bone tissue and remove
it, and osteoblasts rebuild. As our bodies age, the problem
is osteoclasts become more efficient than osteoblasts. This
imbalance in cellular activity leads to decreased bone mineral
density or osteopenia—a precursor of osteoporosis. Supplying
bone tissue with sufficient amounts of calcium and supporting
nutrients on a daily basis is the best prevention.
Getting enough calcium through diet and supplementation
are vital in maintaining strong, youthful bones. Healthy
diets should include the primary food sources of calcium—
kale, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, sardines, tofu, eggs and
low-fat dairy products—and other nutrients that support a
healthy skeletal frame. Regular exercise and sufficient sleep are
also contributing factors to good bone health.
Although calcium is synonymous with bones and teeth, this
is not its only biological purpose. This mineral is also required
for proper muscle contraction (including the heart), central
nervous system function, and hormone secretion. Recent studies
have linked high-calcium diets to weight loss. Calcium stored
in fat cells aid our metabolisms in burning off fat. Research also
suggests that a diet high in calcium may help lower and maintain
blood pressure levels.
The AIM Companies recognizes the importance of calcium to a
healthy skeletal mass and overall well-being. CalciAIM underwent
careful formulation to determine the most beneficial types of

calcium, the most effective method of delivery, and a combination
of nutrients to help achieve superior whole-body health.
Medicinal Ingredients: (per one rounded scoop 8.33 g)
Calcium (lactate/gluconate/carbonate) 400 mg
The CalciAIM formula provides three beneficial forms
of calcium. Soluble, organic calcium lactate is bioavailable
throughout the digestive tract. Calcium gluconate is a highly
soluble form of calcium that enhances its absorption by
stimulating bifidobacteria in the intestine. It also increases the
solubility and absorption of magnesium and inhibits kidney
stone formation. Calcium carbonate is one of the most abundant,
naturally occurring forms of calcium on earth. When water is
added to the blend of calcium salts and citric and malic acids in
CalciAIM, insoluble calcium carbonate transforms into soluble
calcium citrate and malate, and better yet, the most absorbable
form—free-ionic calcium.
Each one-scoop serving of CalciAIM supplies 400 mg
of absorbable calcium. Health Canada recommends 1,000–
1,200 mg daily for both men and women. However, the latest
research indicates that our bodies can absorb only 500 mg of
calcium at one time; therefore, two servings of CalciAIM
should be taken several hours apart.
To complement the three forms of calcium, CalciAIM
contains several other nutrients that support good bone health
and maintenance:
Magnesium (citrate/carbonate) 104 mg
Magnesium is a mineral involved in hundreds of biochemical
reactions in the body. Along with assisting in calcium uptake,
magnesium plays a role in carbohydrate metabolism, muscle
contraction, nerve transmission, and bone mineralization.
Magnesium also has a vital role as a catalyst in enzyme activity,
especially for enzymes involved in the production of energy.
L-lysine (L-lysine hydrochloride) 150 mg
L-lysine HCL is an essential amino acid that must come from diet
or supplementation. L-lysine can enhance
the absorption of calcium into the
bloodstream and limit its excretion by
the urinary system. This amino acid is
also involved in the formation
of collagen, a protein found
in skin, tendons, cartilage,
bone, and other connective
tissue.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) 30 mg
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can improve
immune, gum, and dental health. In addition, when paired
with L-lysine, the vitamin can improve the development and
maintenance of cartilage.
Zinc (Zinc citrate) 2.5 mg
Zinc is important in calcium absorption. Studies reveal that
a low intake of zinc and low blood zinc levels can result in an
increased risk of osteoporosis for men and women. Zinc also
supports the immune system.
Copper (Copper gluconate) 500 mcg
Copper is an essential micronutrient and a critical functional
component of cuproenzymes such as lysyl oxidase, which plays a
role in the formation of bones.
Vitamin D 2 (Ergocalciferol) 300 IU
Ergocalciferol is a natural source of vitamin D derived from
plants. Vitamin D is required for bone development and growth
in children, maintenance of bone in adults, and prevention of
osteoporosis and fractures in the elderly. This vitamin helps in
the absorption and utilization of both calcium and phosphorous.
According to the Vitamin D Council, maintaining adequate
levels of vitamin D has been linked to a decreased risk of several
degenerative diseases including diabetes, osteoarthritis, and
multiple sclerosis.
Recommended use: Helps in the development and maintenance
of bones, cartilage, teeth and gums.
Recommended dose: Adolescents aged 12–18: Take one scoop
daily with a meal. Adults aged 19 and over: Take one scoop
twice daily with meals. Mix one rounded scoop (8.33 g) with
240–300 ml of cold water. Take a few hours before or after
taking other medications.
Risk information: Consult a health care practitioner prior to
use if you are following a low protein diet.
