@SYRACUSE?
Accounting@Syracuse delivers Syracuse University’s
Master of Science in Professional Accounting
program to students all over the world. With
classes and coursework completed online,
Accounting@Syracuse offers the same curriculum
content, faculty interaction, and hands-on learning
as Whitman’s on-campus accounting program.
Alumni of the on-campus program have gone on to
work at some of the world’s top accounting firms,
including Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PwC.
CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Whitman’s renowned curriculum prepares you for the expanding roles accounting professionals play in
today’s business landscape. Depending on your educational background, you will be placed into one of three
sequences of study:
Accounting Sequence
30 Credits
For students who hold an
undergraduate degree in accounting.
Business Sequence
42 Credits
For students who hold an
undergraduate degree in business.
Foundational Sequence
48 Credits
For students who hold an
undergraduate degree in any subject
other than business or accounting.
Before beginning your program, you will meet with an Accounting@Syracuse advisor who will help you determine
the exact number of credits and courses required, based on your prior academic work.
As classes and coursework are completed online,
Accounting@Syracuse gives you the opportunity to
earn your degree while maintaining a full-time job.
Students in all sequences will take advanced courses in:
• International Accounting & Reporting
• Taxes & Business Strategy
• Financial Statement Analysis
• Auditing Theory & Practice
You also will have access to a host
of elective courses that allow you
to tailor your studies to your unique

In order to deliver an online experience that is on par with our renowned residential program, we have taken
advantage of cutting-edge technology that brings the best of on-campus online. Accounting@Syracuse features:
Live Online Classes
Hosted via webcam in a face-to-face online classroom, our weekly class sessions
bring every student to the front of the class. You will be able to interact with
classmates and professors in real time, share documents, participate in engaging
discussions, and collaborate in small groups.
Self-Paced Coursework
Each week, you will complete assignments that include highly produced, multimedia
content. Coursework can be completed 24/7 from any Internet-enabled device or
downloaded to a mobile device to be completed with no Internet connection.
Accomplished Faculty
Classes average 15 students to ensure each student receives personal attention
from our renowned faculty members. Online classes are designed and taught by
faculty members chosen specifically for this program.

PREPARING FOR THE
CPA EXAM
The Accounting@Syracuse curriculum helps you
develop the skills you need to succeed on the
CPA exam.
A certified public accountant (CPA) is licensed
by a state board of accountancy. To earn the
prestige associated with the CPA license,
you are required to demonstrate knowledge
and competence by meeting high educational
standards, passing the CPA exam, and acquiring a
specific amount of general accounting experience.
The two most important aspects of becoming
a CPA are passing the Uniform CPA Exam and
meeting state licensing requirements.

accountants and auditors to more than $100,000
